You don’t have to remove the trim above the wheel to remove wheel. Just turn the wheel 90 degrees to access rear of airbag.

This is true just made my life easier 👌🏻

Just done mine. Don’t connect the battery back up before you’ve connected airbag back up. I did to check steering was straight as it wasn’t before I started. Put it all back together with airbag light on no horn. Got the vcds code boxes ticked for mfsw. Still nothing worked light horn buttons etc. Retraced the wires and re did the tap connections and then it worked horn. lights on wheels and mfd but unfortunately no stereo controls. Stereo is kenwood ddx4dab. Anyone got any ideas.

Did you use the airbag from the original wheel?? Would love to see a detailed video on connecting the buttons up. Keep up the videos buddy 👍

Adam M 👍 yes bud, used the air bag of the original t5 wheel. Hopefully that video will be out soon.. just got to get my head round it 🤞👍

I have now done this on my t5.1 and is all working also added some functionality to the dials. Let me know if you want a hand doing yours.

Did you have any issues with the horn not working? I'm planning on doing the exact same thing with my T5 and I've read on some of the forums that the horn will not function with the new wheel. Cheers Matt

Oddly no.. it’s usually when the radio is removed for a period of time..

How did you get on with getting the buttons working? Great video by the way 👍 about to do the same with my van

Probably needed a new Multifuncion Unit (Its a small rectanglue unit under the steerng wheel.) May need to be reprogrammed with "VSDG"? cant remember the program name)

Did you do another video to get the buttons working? Got a link?

Hi Tom. Is the steering wheel from an another Transporter? I have same retrofit on to-do list at future but I need to collect all the parts before. There is a lot Passat's steering wheels much cheaper than T5 steering wheels but dunno do they fit together.

This wheel is from a mk6 golf, same as the Passat and a straight fit with your air bag 👌🏻

@@tomtdubz ty man. Do they include the wire for the buttons? I have heard that the otherside works as you put the steering wheel to its place but the otherside needs the wire to work properly. Ot at all. If the wire has to buy separately, do you know the partnumber?

Don’t no the part number sorry, the wheel will come with the loom in the wheel, you’ll need to then get the loom and possibly upgrade your bcm too

Okay. Not sure do i have to get a new bcm, cos i have cruise already.? I have read that 086 bcm should work with mfsw and 087 mfsw+cruise and etc. Should work right away after coding.

No not yet I need to upgrade my bcm module under the steering wheel. Then program it to add the features👌🏻

@@tomtdubz basically I got a 6r polo..so what I did was swapped a wheel from my polo to my transporter. The wiring look for airbag was straight plug in. I just checked the polo and the horn works on there..so I’m assuming wire might have came lose..I’m going to take it off now and have a look 😌 I’ll keep you updated 🤙🏻
