Thanks Adam! We were quite relentless with ours, we only had weekends to work on it, so they were sometimes 14+ hour days to get the work done. We were under pressure with time as this was a replacement van. Someone crashed into our previous one and wrote it off so we had to get the new one done in time before our trip away at Christmas :) We finished it with 2 days spare!

Sorry hadn’t seen your reply, we used hidden clips to attach the ply to the van, we got them from Mega Van Mats 😊

To start with, an awesome journey that you've shared, thanks....the final product is beyond amazing!!! Do you have a website with more details of your pre-planning notes? Although its an awesome build & video, I'd love to learn more about what went in in the planning stages....or was it "fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants" kinda planning? What are the "units"? They look like puzzle pieces that were made to fit the van..... (Actually they remind me of Ikea for vans!!!!) Was this your 2nd conversion? How did you get it layered? how did you plan the bed? Thanks so much ... and have a life-time of memories!!## Lauri

Windkisssed hey! We don't have any plans as we sort of just did a bit of online research and went from there (also whatever annoyed us on the last van, we looked at coming up with a solution to fix it) our last van got written off so it gave us the opportunity to improve the layout. The units were from a company called Evo Motion Design, its cnc cut flat pack units designed to fit a T5 so you're right, a bit like Ikea for vans 😊 You can pick different layouts to suit your needs. We chose this one to optimise storage space as much as possible. For the bed, we didn't have much to choose from, we wanted as much storage underneath it as possible and to keep it within budget. This one fit our needs the best. We'll be uploading a van tour soon showing how everything works and where we store everything 😊

You all did a great job. I love it.

Juliocyp hey! Thank you very much! The van itself was £10200 and we got it from a van centre in Wellingborough. It's a 2l engine, 102 bhp, long wheel base, startline model 😊

Juliocyp no problem, we got the foil insulation really cheap from Aldi (supermarket) think it was about £6 a roll and we used less than 4 rolls in total. They don't have it in all the time but if you can wait for one of their DIY weeks, it saved a fair bit of money 😊

jwgmail there is undeniably an amount of research that’s needed but I can guarantee it was nowhere near 200 hours 😊 we learnt a lot of things as we went along or just asked for advice in one of the many support groups available online 😁

I reckon you could renovated a full house with the same amount of work. Nice team work. I take it you guys don’t have kids yet.....

Zachy Zoo Agree. Whilst good for an overview, and Benny hill style comedy, personally l find the high speed technique without any pause, a big distraction, stressful and literally a head ache.

absolutely incredible! Something I really want to do so thank you for the videos and list of suppliers. It's a pipe dream at the moment due to cost, but at least after seeing your video, with the result and level of quality it something more achievable that buying a pre-converted van which appear massively out of our price range.

Simon Johnson it can definitely be done cheaper than what we spent (we know as our last van we converted cost us significantly less 😊) but we’d always recommend converting your own if you’re happy to invest the time, we saved about £4000 doing it ourself over buying a pre converted one or paying someone else to convert it for us. Hope your dream becomes a reality soon!

Nice job! I've done a few vans and I know the trial and error. I remember having carpet and wood on the ceiling with posts coming down are the "bar" area. I sat there one late night and it just wasn't coming together- it didn't look right. So, I took a hammer to it which made me start over, The 2nd product was perfect. I could have just left it, because it was done and nobody would ever noticed. But ME. So I appreciate what you did. Again, great job.

davep6977 thank you so much! Yes we’ve done how managed to convert 3 vans now due to people crashing in to them! So we know the pain of having to re do stuff! We also ended up going back on things we weren’t happy with, again no one else would have noticed but it bugged us! Glad you got there in the end 😊

Really stuck between buying a ready made campervan or saving some $ and doing a DIY one myself. Love this vids guys, makes me wanna go the DIY route more now! Great job!

David North thank you so much 😊 there’s definitely a lot more advantages to doing a self build than just the money saving. We got a layout that works perfectly for us and how we use our van and most importantly we know how absolutely everything works and where all the important components are, so if something breaks or fails (which is more common than you’d think) we know exactly where it is and how to fix it without having to pay someone else to do it for us 😊

Hi, I have just recently started to think about buying a campervan and follow California Camping on KZread. I have watched a number of vlogs by a number of people, some well known, others not so much and I stumbled across your channel and watched this video which I really enjoyed. Brilliant that you were able to do all of this yourselves. Looking at your other videos, I like it that you manage keep the van clean and tidy as some other vloggers put up videos that would turn a lot of people off van life as their vans are in a constant state of disarray and quite frankly look as skanky as the people in them. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment Steve :) Lizzy and Shaun are lovely and their videos are great! Good luck with your search for a camper :D ultimately having a white van interior does mean it takes a lot of effort to keep it clean and looking smart. Our view is we spent so much time and effort converting it, that it would be a shame to let it get a mess. Don't get us wrong, it does get dirty as white is an impossible colour to keep clean, but we make sure we clean up as much as we can to keep it tidy :)
