Welcome to my van conversion series.
Follow my videos as I buy my first van and go head first into the deep end with no prior experience of van conversion work.
Please bare in mind these clips are a couple of weeks old and at the time I hadn’t told anyone about my plans to travel Europe on my own as at the time they were just thoughts and ideas in my head, hence why to some the idea of pulling apart a perfectly fine van seemed a waste of time!
I got my van off Facebook marketplace and viewed it In the dark in a questionable area of Birmingham with a lovely chap in a tracksuit. Not by any means the way I’d recommend buying your first van but I was getting good vibes off it.
I’m trying to make it a living space for myself to travel across the whole of Europe whilst learning a thing or two along the way and sharing my journey with you. I’ll be making plenty of mistakes and probably have second thoughts about some things I do but it’s a race against the clock as I aim to leave the country on July the 4th to enjoy the back end of Summer 2022.
The van itself is a 2001 Volkswagen T4 in Fresian Green, the colour stood out more than anything with most campers being white, black or grey which appealed to me. It’s got a lot of “character” for sure… it’s a 1.9TDI with 67 of the finest brake horsepower with the engine just broken in at 191,000 miles! When it gets up to 60mph it sounds like a Boeing 747 except the only thing taking off on this van could be the solar panels!
Special shout-out to my dad for helping me on the interior, lots of it wasn’t filmed as it was just all hands on deck given the timeframe we all had to work with!

Thanks! Yes I was toying with the idea of doing that but happy with how it’s turned out. Full van tour in a few days once I’m packed and ready to go!

Cool van I've got 1998 t4 hightop planning some nice climbing and bouldering trips in it .. done cmd arete to the ben couple of month ago awesome trip

Oh man I’d love to see that! Hightops are getting so hard to get hold of in decent nic. Yeah I bet that was mega, I stayed in the Ben Nevis in last year and summited in the winter, would love to go back and do the CMD

Done it twice now and both days were fantastic weather alot of snow on the top of the ben the second time north face car park is a great park up too . The hightop is great for storage bouldering pad ropes etc it just makes life alot easier having the storage

Yes was thinking that. I’ve been doing indoor bouldering for just under a year haven’t had the chance to go outdoors! I wouldn’t know where to go or who with! I’ve got my climbing gear with me for my trip though I’m sure to find some places

Outdoor is harder as a rule I havnt been climbing that long where u off on ya travels ? I've got a couple of books with tons of places all over the UK
