    Own a 2011 1.4 in SG. Owned it from 100k mileage to 145k currently. Soo far i changed, - brand new mechatronic - fuse in gearbox - battery - radiator - took out the O2 sensor / emissions - changed tyre - changed rims (LOL) - 4x servicing / 1 gear oil change Other than that, have to say i love this car. Super value for $ if u know how to take care of it 🙂 And less common to leak compared to similar age BMWs

  • @Underp4ntz_Gaming_Channel

    @Underp4ntz_Gaming_Channel

    The mechatronic is almost indestructible IF you service it every time... but sadly MOST people dont care. VW and VW dealers always say. be sure you have changed the DSG oil (wet clutch) every 55k kilometers and you wont have an issue. i know people who drove 270 miles with the same clutch and same dsg without power loss, just service those bitches, dont do launch controls (btw VW has a LC counter) so they can see how many times you launched the car. and try not to do traffic jams a lot.

    Drove approx 60000km in 2 years now, fixed my alternator & fuel pump & ignition key turn. I changed my mechatronic twice soo far in 2 years But love the dsg , gear has almost no lags when serviced properly Also just overhauled my gearbox , i changed it every 30k km previously but now probably gonna service it every 20k, as my car is coming to 13 years of age. Noted on the jam, heard a fren mentioned it as well, usually i put the car in neutral if im staying stationary for long. Headache when it spoils but i love the drive man :3

    It’s amazing! I used to tinker with vw’s about 20 yrs ago. I had mk3 gti, mk3 vr6 and mk2 g40 polo. Thought about getting a scirocco 1.4 as a basic work runner and came to check reliability. I said to myself “as long as it doesn’t have the ‘old’ electrical problems!! 🤣😂 how is it possible that they still carry electrical problems 25 yrs later?!! I needed an auto electrician to rewire half my golf gti and most of my vr6. I was lucky he was a family member, but i dread to think how much it would have cost to replace all those little rubbed bare wires!!

    Might be worth noting, the timing chain issue only affected 2.0 TSI engines pre 2012 (gen 1 + 2) The gen 3 engines don’t suffer with this. Also would’ve been worth talking about the carbon build up on the valves on the older models. The gen3 has secondary injectors to combat this. Also those headlights are the best ones 😂. The pre facelift suffered with fading and micro cracks so badly 😞 Great video 🙌✌️

    The chain rattle is a tsi engine issue, I'm going to assume the 1.2 versions are the same if they use chains. It's a chain thing. I have a 1.4 122hp model on a 2012 plate with just over 80k miles now and every now and the the chain rattles until warm. I've only had mine just over a year, but not had issues with the headlights as you described. Obviously it's hit and miss from car to car.

    The electronical issues are bs... idk what he's talking about but im in a Vdub club and NEVER heard about electronics, the windows yes... with frost its a big issue. Also the 1.4 version is pretty good and packs a punch and if you tune it... its even more fun. And indeed the water pumps of the TSI 2.0 engines are trash. but most were replaced during warranty or service. The wiring looms are all the same of the MQB (JUUUST a lil bit diffirent in lenght). but they should be near identical. The DSG? yes be sure you service them every 60k kilometers, do a oil change every 2 year if you dont drive a lot, but use premium oil of well known brands and if you dont yeah its on you.. most issues with cars is mostly due to user error.

    Good interesting video, but I wouldn't put people off the 1. 4 models. Unless you are always owning R spec type cars or higher performance then they will seem underpowered even the twin charge version, but they are still quick for what they are. I've owned various cars over the years and some even much quicker than my current car which is the 1.4 122hp model, I could've afforded a 2ltr or R, just mileage/price comparison at the time however I wouldn't say it was slow for the car. It's faster than the astral gtc 120hp model and having driven an abarth 500 135hp before I settled on the rocco, it felt as quick or quicker. It drives really nice and pulls well. Again just depends on why you're use to or what your expectation are.

    The only problem on scirocco is it is TOO HEAVY. it has fewer features than passat and some variant of golf, and less doors than golf, smaller volume, but still weight that much? lol!

    I wouldn’t trust this guys opinion if he says the 1.4 tsi isn’t too bad. It’s literally known as the chocolate engine in the vw world. Known for blowing piston rings, even when maintained to high standards you will rarely see one of these engines reach 100k without a rebuild. We had one at50k miles and piston blown, rebuilt top of the engine and guess what happened six months later… pistonring blown! Check auto trader I doubt you will see many 1.4tsi with high mileage on there in comparison to the larger engine models.

    In Germany / Netherlands you see them 150K+ kilometers, maybe they are better build? the lower QC cars moved outside of europe? idk... but we got laws for vehicle callbacks so everybody probably did a piston ring / piston replacement during the callback. but a lot of people dont even care or dont know if there was a callback. maybe thats why they blow? I know all VAG engines had those issues with piston rings, most are recalled in fact you even got 10 years warranty after it was done. The TSI 2.0 had same issue with piston rings, (oil burners).

    1.4 tsi twincharged are the worst engines vw ever made. They drive amazingly, but reliability is horrendeous, cracked engine block in a brand new one at 40k km.. cracked pistons etc. Dont buy it guys. The most reliable scirocco would be the 2.0 tdi(either 140 or 170hp)
