The clock was classy & looks way more premium to what they have now . the likes of Bentey & Maybach have an analog clock , not a hazad light switch

Thank you Brian&Autogefühl team, another brilliant job. I've been waiting for Passat facelift video. I used to own 2012 B7 Passat for 5 years and now I have 2017 B8 Passat. I have to say that I am very happy with Passat for more than 7 years. It really is a good all rounder, you can enjoy it in the city (even in a big metropol like Istanbul) and long journeys in motorways. Thanks god it never dissappointed me and my family. If I will have to say something with the facelift nothing looked changed dramatically which is a good thing. Technologically it looked like a lot to offer though. I'm not sure if I want to change my car with the new one. Especially without an analog watch in the center console, I think I shouldn't. So please VW engineers and managers think again and replace this weirdo looking flash sign with analog watch. Thanks again. #VWBRINGBACKTHEANALOGWATCH

The green alltrack looks nice.

B5 was a huge jump forward, that put the passat already on the neighborhood of premium class. It was a very reliable car to.

plus they got rid of some of the blank buttons around the gear shifter, moved the park assist buttons there. still wish there were no blanks on a fully loaded model tho.

Got a 2018 2.0 Tsi 220 GT Dsg. Can't see that the new model has changed much at all.

Volkswagen is the best car brand in the world, they are the only one who are thinking 2 times before they do something. I like the review!

Alltrack looks very good !

So now you have all your switches on the infotainment system with no physical switches. So when the infotainment system fails how do you switch things on and off?

Still have my B7 with the 2.5, and keeping it. I agree with the rest of the comments. Would love to have that green one here in the States

Is the facelifted Passat offering a real Head up display, actually projected on the front shield, or is it again just a piece of glass sticking out of the dash?

Love the Alltrack in green. The MIB 3 looks fantastic and the integrated safety features are very exciting. What a great all- round car the GTE would be for the real world. VW is bringing us the future! The only concern is the complexity (Mk7 GTI driver here with recent water pump and heater core issues).

The 2006 Passat was the nicest looking one, and it had led tail lights. The newer ones, look like a step back

Yet another great review by Bryan! I have one question though: several times a video about behind the scenes look on lighting at VW is mentioned. I don't see it linked in the description, nor I can find it in the channel. Can anybody please share the link of this video? Thanks!

I have the Passat GTE 2017 and a happy customer, great car. The improvement of range is the most important and the removal of the analogue clock is a mistake. Not worth it to upgrade to the new model is my verdict. I am waiting for the Arteon hybrid GTE with +350 hp and 4wd, that would be something VW could sell a lot of and still charge a hefty price.

Well done Volkswagen. Talking about the GTE makes me thinking about the Winter time. Volkswagen should really think about an GTE 4motion! That would be the car I‘m definitly going to buy right away.

I don't understand why they replaced the analog clock in the central console with that ugly "passat" writing...looks so cheap, ruins the look of the interior. They could have at least made a metal badge then or something, not just cheap silver paint on cheap black glossy plastic.

Also - having USB C in the cars end is a bit weird. How many things ship with a C > C cable? I think 99% of all phones comes with A > C cables.

16:48 that's good that they redesigned that space for the mobile phones......on my current B8 Passat I can't fit an iPhone Xs Max in there.

Im sorry but why would you ever choose a vw product with that absolutely lazy design over something like a pug 508 or a mazda 6, both of which are way better in terms of aestethics, and fucntionality of the interior space.

Spring i guess!

I thought i'd miss the volume knob - but i don't. I mean who adjusts volume on the media unit nowadays? - ya use the steering wheel. Also the steering wheel in vw cars have long not had a mute button, but if you tap the power button the touchscreens it does exactly what the mute button would do before (pause your music or mute radio etc). There's really no use for the volume knob anymore, unless you just like taking your hand off the steering wheel to twiddle a knob instead of using steering wheel controls.

When you need mute the radio in second, using steering wheel buttons sucks. Nothing compares to knob :-)

It’s always nice to have the button...look at Volvo...all out with the touch pad solution but with a big stylish volume and mute button right there in the center console

Day running LED light are the same as on facelifted Captur wtf?

Europe gets the best looking, better engineering, better tech and better everything Passat than the USA. The green Alltrac is REALLY nice!

@@Wyde_Boi True VW also lost money on each one they sold ,If i remember right VW lost money for like 10 years straight selling cars in the U.S. before they built their factory in North America .

There is some thing missing in all cars, option to put drinking water system for dogs , or at least a slot for water bowl in boot for dogs

hmmm seems like I would still go for the 2020 Opel insignia grand sports 4x4 OPC line instead of this but the new Passat is great but people are now complaining that it doesn't have the clock on the dashboard as the old one. Also i don't see fake grills or anything just people complaining about the exhaust.

I could not see the radar in the front grill. Is it moved, or is ACC now camera based? VW has a great ACC, so I hope they have improved it even more!

@@autogefuehl Did you pick up where the radar is now located? The previous placement in the grill has had some issues in snow (though much better than most other cars). A radar in the windscreen etc would be much more robust imo.

Why can’t we have this in the US market. Oh yes...we are required to buy only SUVs. But can we at least have the diesel? No.

The car looks refreshed, I like its tail lights more the previous. Sad to loose analog clock in favor of odd Passat writing. The most impressive part is online features of the new infotainment system. I wish I had it in my current B8. USB C is great by itself, but guys - to put it on top of the console is like saying “let’s collect same dust and break some connectors”. And the most terrible thing is that Alltrack and Variant are lost for Russian market due to low demand and probably due to expensive certification for local market. Thanks for the review. Mini Eggs doubt it...but at least have the map working on the driver display even if it has no directions. Some cars don’t allow this at all. But I’m sure Thomas will test this

there's a chart in the video, but there are 4 diesels: 1.6L 115hp(88kw) 2.0L 150(110kw) - 190(140kw) - 240hp(176kw) don't know the co2 emisions yet. but I would recomend the GTE if you don't need to travel more than 40-50km a day, if you do get the 1.5tsi it can easelly do 5.0l/100km if you try and it's sooo much smoother and quieter

The production quality has really been taken up a notch, also really great music in the b-roll! On another note, I think removing the analog clock is a bit of a misstep as it gives the interior a bit more class, also I feel the analog clock gives a better "sense" of time, rather than just looking at the digital clock and see its 10:48, you notice that its almost 11 o clock, which perhaps gives you a sense of urgency, if you are late for a meeting or whatever the case. Also, you didn't really mention the seat materials, I'm guessing it's going to be leather for the top specifications only?

I think 55km WLTP and 70km NEFC...the last is better comparable to the old 50 km for the pre facelift version I am driving myself

@@oykkh29 hmm not really comparable. Depends on your needs for daily driving. If 70km, better. 50km in real world, is sufficient, GTE could be your car. But the Neo is potentially cheaper than the GTE

@@oykkh29 no, my Passat GTE is too new to think about buying a new car. Neo will be cheaper not because it is not premium but the GTE has two engines which makes things expensive. The smallest Passat should be even cheaper than the Neo

Looking at the AllTrack head on it looks like a Ninja Turtle.

The analog clock was very significant for the premium feeling in the interior of the Passat. This new logo looks bad and i think they made a big mistake taking the clock away!

Would be nice if VW sold a Passat station wagon (estate) in USA. Of course VW wants buyers to get one of their ever growing line of CUV and SUV. Would like to see you guys do a review/road test of the Corolla Touring Sports hybrid. Some of us hope to convince Toyota to sell it in North America. Looks like we may lose the Golf Sportwagon, so the Corolla wagon would be a great replacement. Amazing how popular station wagons are in UK and Europe.

Not even remotely worth upgrading from a 2015 B8, looks exactly the same with small tweaks.

I would have liked an AWD GTE, but I guess I have to wait to the next generation.

This emphasis on digital cockpits and infotainment screens is alarming to me. How much time do drivers actually spend looking at the road then? First, cars are being packed with all these distractions. Then they will be packed with even more electronics to get drivers to do that which they should do in the first place - focus on the road.
