My cables came with no instructions and I've spent the last 2 hours trying to work this out. To make matters worse I cut the cable tie when I thought I'd almost got it and then the central spindle came away as the tension made the central regulator come away. Your's is the first video that actually shows how to retrieve my situation, because you show how much wire should go around the spindle. Thank you so much for this video, it has literally saved the day

Wher did u get the kit?

From my own left front regulator on my 2006 convertible new beetle, it looks like your spool casing is facing the wrong direction. It should be facing down relative to the wire side of the rails. Still, a very helpful vid. Thanks

it almost appears he has used the passenger side rebuild kit on the driver side - it is confusing the heck out of me also?

There is a cotter pin on the large spring of the Bowden cable that holds the spring back. Does this cotter pin have to be removed after installing the window regulator mechanism?

The link you have in the description comes up with an error message - do you have another supplier for the driver side regulator repair kit?

Would anyone know where the broken peice of black plastic bracket went that fell out when i pried that inner cover w/all the wires on it off? (this is the part you remove in order to get to the regulator) I am afraid i am going to have to try to find this piece now before i can install this repair kit? 2010 VW Beetle Convertible.

I purchased a similar repair kit from E bay part # 1y0837462f Had to shorten outer cable housing by one inch to be able to pull everything together, I believe i have the window track with the larger track wheels making the cables about one inch short, my cabriolet is a 2005. A Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel does the job take your time don't cut the cable there is a plastic sheath inside gives some protection. installed in car works perfectly.

​@@truenorthproduce8862 You have the older version with bigger but thinner Pulley? If have to buy a complete set with the smalller wheel and wheel housing, then you must cut 1,8- 2cm from the cable housing that goes to the white spring (only this one) don't cut more, the cable must be very tight! It get longer over time.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I sent a couple parts back, same part number, believing they were the wrong parts. I cut about an inch off the cable housing as you suggested and it now works great. So glad I ran across your post.

There are at least two different cable mechanisms for the beetle Convertible from these year, some have a small but fat Pulley, others have a lager Pulley, other Spring mechanisms too. They are not compatible to each other! Cable sets for the lager Pulley are not available on the Internet.

Looks like I'm in the same boat with my wife's 04. Need the passenger side regulator and ordered what they said would fit but the one cable end is different than the one in the car originally plus the pulley that goes to the motor was the large skinny one originally not the shorter fat one included with the repair kit. Now I have to figure out where to get the right one. I'm curious if getting a full repair kit that includes that center black part the motor mounts to would work?

this is the passenger side - you need to inverse it for the driver side. :(

Looks like the camera has the image flipped. It is that easy and I didn't have to modify anything.

this is not the "left" side window regulator - this is the right side assembly! I have been looking at this video and comparing it against assemblies I have in stock and when I assembled one using the rails you have pictured it ends up being the passenger side and not the driver side! I assembled a driver side using this video and the whole mechanism is backwards! You need to reshoot this video with the correct rails! :(

Not easy it took me hour and a half not fun glad it's finished.
