When the battery terminal is off , you can hold the horn down for 30 seconds , that will drain all stored power for airbags so you don’t have to wait . Thanks for the seat info , it helped a lot

Can you attach the battery terminal after you get the seat out and drive the car with the seat still removed? Or does the seat need to be put back in before driving?

I had the battery disconnected for close to an hour and still had lights, and tried your method and the horn didnt function at all without the battery connected. Any other tips?

Bj beej yeah you can drive it fine without the seat, there are just lights on the dash

You can but you will get an airbag dashboard light and some mechanic will fail your annual safety inspection for the light. You can use a jumper harness connected to the airbag harness that connects to the seat and it will fool the airbag module into thinking the seat is plugged in and someone is in the seat.

Now I can get the dropped drugs in between the seats outta there! Thank you!

The bit you are referring to is called a triple square bit, German cars use the here and there and are are defined by having 12 points, basically 3 squares overlapping each other to create 12 points. Some times you can get away with using a torx bit but the chances of stripping is much greater because torx bits only have 6 points. Good video man

No, Torx only has 6 points. This has 12.

Are the mk 6 Jetta & golf seats compatible? I'm looking to upgrade the cloth seats in my Golf TDI

I have a 2014 vw jetta GLI mk6 and I don't like the original seats! and I'm thinking of exchanging them for a leather vw mk5 GLI! My question, what functions would I lose if I make the change? Electrical functions of the heater, etc.

Correct but disconnecting the battery is always a good idea.

Dear bro, I really need your help, I bought an American Golf 6 in Spain, and the seat on the right does not have the airbag control unit under it, nobody is able to help me, I need to know the reference of the control unit to buy one. Could you give me the one with your Jetta? I would greatly appreciate it.

What kind of tools do you need?

Do the seat bolts have to be torqued to a cartain amount?

It's probably in your best interest to torque them with a medium-strength thread locker.

I added electrical seats to my MK5 jetta s model. All I want is to be able to adjust seats. Where would I get the power from? Which is the 12v power cable? I know brown is ground. Can anyone help? Thanks

It's an MK6 That I have, not MK5.

I see that the chair you took out of the car had an airbag but no other option. So, I wonder why such chair has four connectors for the airbag.

I had the battery unhooked for close to an hour, and still have multiple lights, what else can i do to make sure i dont get the lights? They are airbag, traction control and something else. I have a 2012 jetta tdi. Also i tried the horn thing and the horn didnt work while the battery was unplugged at all

Usually when I disconnect the battery the lights won’t go away untill you drive for 2 mins (down the street, like a functions check) then all is well I’m also scared to remove my seats for cleaning 😮.

would these fit in a mk5 jetta?

I believe the seats are interchangeable between MK5 and MK6 Jetta from what I've read on forums, have also seen someone install Golf GTI MK6 seats into Jetta. I just don't think the airbag harnesses match between MK5 and MK6, who needs those anyway!!
