VW IDE 06141 CAYE Injector compensation adaption Part2

A short video to demonstrate the procedure in gaining security access correctly using VCDS on the Conti injection system on this engine series.
If you do not enter the sub routine in this fashion the sub routine hangs and enters an infinite loop.
The vehicle in question is a 2014 VW Caddy 1.6TDI CAYE engine.

    I have CAYD. I have reset everything. Did the same procedure as you. The engine just revs up to 800rpm and stay there.

    @@enginemanagementadventures7305 I just performed the injector deviation, with the genuine injectors the system calibrates the injectors. However other type just send the car into a loop. Thank you for your support and I always watch your videos.

    I've done this and I get press pedals, release pedals then press accelerator and release and it says running but I never get any revving. it just stays around 800rpm the whole time, even after 10 minutes or so. any ideas?

    Hi, i have tried to do this function on my VCDS 19.6.1 as per your very detailed instructions. However once security access accepted and basic settings IDE06141 selected go. It then askes me to press the brake and the accelerator together and keep them pressed ?. My engine rpm remaines at 800 and nothing else happens even after 5 mins. I dont understand why my VCDS procedure is different to yours which oviously works,whereas mine does not. Do you have any thoughts on this,is my version of VCDS to old? If the 1DE 06141 is listed you woul;d expect it to work,but it does not.

    Nice video mate , I’m changing my rocker cover on my 1.6tdi soon so got to pull injectors out , so will give them a clean etc , is it worth doing this after I’ve reinstalled them

    Tks Man. This is really for new injectors/changed injectors - deleting learned values and running this just set the cylinder balance offsets faster - the sub routing is constantly adjusting anyways at idle. I'd leave it TBH - sometimes running it can cure a lumpy idle but often this is caused by somthing else anyways - worn flywheel etc.

    I have a seat leon 1.6tdi and it is kind of misfiring on cold but it's ok when warms up. I check the injectors deviation on idle when cold c1: 0.57, c2: -1.20, c3: 1.34, c4: -0.72mg/stroke. Do these numbers look good to you? Thanks

    Hi, I am sorry to bother you,can you please tell me , what are acceptable values? Is there a range of values? I am getting -0.56, 0.45, 0.37 and -0.31, that seems kinda close, but on the other hand not so close. 😊 Please ease my mind a bit 😊 Thanks 👍😊

    The ECU can compensate appropriately 8% depending on system for discrepancies between injectors due to wear etc, watch for differences of one injector over the others. This should be followed up by a leak off test. Yours look normal. Remember that injectors with 300k will have wear. My 09 A4 2.0 tdi has 340k on the clock on original injectors all compensation values similar. Injector wear problems are closely linked to poor quality fuel and people misfulling etc.

    I changed injector 2 on a golf 1.6 TDi cayc for a brand new Conti vdo, deviation quantities are well out now cyl 2 -1.8 cyl 3 1.7 ish, tried to run the program but it won’t start coil light flashes but never revs up? Should the rpm increase straight away or can it vary? I followed the video and had engine at 90c. We’ve had the golf since new and never had software updated (not even the emissions scandal thing) software version 9052. Any ideas?

    Just got a VCDS and I'm about to do this. I was about to throw the car off a cliff. Everything started with the bolt of injector 1 and 2 snapping off and spewing oil all over the engine. Got the car to the mechanic, he knocked the injectors so hard that I got the car the next day with intermittent solenoid issue on injector 4. Replaced injector 4 with a refurbished one then all of a sudden I noticed that the car was regenerating every 40km! So, I'm thinking one of the others must be leaking. Checked injector fuel deviation and two had over 5mg/str difference!Replaced two more injectors with used ones and now the car shakes and jumps on gear 1 and 2, blue smoke coming from the exhaust and regeneration every 20-30km! Overall really terrible experience (never getting a diesel German car again). Toyota Prius here I come!

    Is it the CAY 1.6 engine? Very reliable engine actually. Injectors are not solenoid, they are Piezo. Any knocks to the piezo pack on the head will damage the crystal wafer pack. Clamp bolts break either because 1. Bolt is reused 2. Wrong torque 8nm +180degree. Used Injectors are a gamble at best. Hope it works out man 👍

    @@enginemanagementadventures7305 Compared to my 25-year-old Honda, this goes under my 'unreliable list' and I'm not trusting it ever again. Last time the injector bolt was removed was from the dealer (10 years ago) to do the exact same job. Breaking bolts (due to design fault...the bolt is an M6!) and replacing injectors with a cost of 1000-2000 every 10 years I don't consider it a bargain. Hopefully the car will get fixed and I'm selling it the next day.

    @@enginemanagementadventures7305 sorted it out. VCDS, coded the injectors properly but car was still shaking. Turns out that I had to recalibrate the DSG as well. The clutch was old so a recalibration fixed the 1-2 gear shaking. Feels like a brand new car!

    Yes it should work with your engine. This particular video deals with the original CAY series of 1.6tdi using the Siemens/Continental injection system. Your 2011 is most likely a CAYC engine.

    Hi, l like you have tried to do this function without success static rpm no reving.I am wondring if your ECU software needs to be at a certain version level to compleat this function. My ECU software version was only at 2010 version 8831. Do you know what version ECU software you had?

    @@gonmigu7464 I would imagen your best bet is to contact an engine tuning specialist,preferabily on which specialises in VW/AUDI. They might be able to upload a new original frf file to your engine ECU

    Hi we have a issue with a vehicle, we have a 2011 vw golf CAYC, we changed a injector now the car has a injector knock and slight missing, all injectors have been tested, when we carry out the minimum deviation it’s just stuck on “running” and nothing happens apart from the glow plug lamp flashing, tried absolutely everything, car won’t rev up like yours is can you help?

    I tried to do the adaptation but nothing happent after press brake and gaz pedals. Since this atemps my car seems to be stuck in a infinite adaptating loop : big rumble and not proper running at rhe first start then, if i drive with full throttle in 4th gear then let rpm down 4 or 5 time, the engine turn propely. If i turne off and on, the engine forget the settings and start to turn badly. How to get out of this infinite loop, please help ;)

    Hi EMA Thank You very much for quick reply to my post. Unfortunately you've been right I've got two faults which I can't erase 19CAN GTW (0010) can snan-01044 crtl module incorrectly coded 44STR ASS (001) A while ago ago someone been trying to fit to this car cruise control and operation failed. Probably I need to find the way how to reset/recode can unit to reset default settings. Thanks for your help and support

    2.0 is Bosch ecu think you just delete adaptions and ecu learns itself after injector replacement.

    In a Caddy? Well double check that you rebooted and entered security access exactly as I did in the video. I have done it on a CAYD recently no problem.

    @@enginemanagementadventures7305 Yes. Caddy. I tried several times. No problem at mine, either. It just blinks and idles, also no problem after 10min when I stopped the adaptation. I looked in the VW Workshop manual, and after changing the injectors, it just sayd to code them. Nothing about adaptation. I'll try these days to adapt them with Launch.

    Yes this option is not available for the EA 288 generation engines which switched to bosch. In any case the software will adjust itself with time.

    @Auto H 203 yes its available for CAYD as that's an EA 189 gen with siemens engine management. The last Caddy I did took 2 attempts and if you miss any step regarding power cycling engine, starting engine at idle b4 entering security access establishing comms from scratch with vcds etc it will not work.     Just tried this with my caddy says brake and clutch then acc pedal and says running on the Vcds screen but just sits at idle waited approx 30 mins and no deviation on throttle, any help appreciated

    It works only at newer soft. I had 8789 and it didnt work. I upgrade it to 9972 and the procedure finished correctly.

    Can you only run this if you have changed a injector or can you reset you current fitted set . I have 3 injectors close in -0,3 and 1 is at 1.2 .

    Hi Sean, the reason your smooth running compensation offsets are different is because you ECU is compensating duration to balance idle as injectors wear, this procedure is generally for new injectors fitted, it cannot fix a worn injector and the ecu performs this procedure over time in any case - we obviously use it when a new injector is fitted to update the settings straight away. I would let it be.

    @@enginemanagementadventures7305 2.0 tdi BKD. It has rough idle and engine shakes but it drives amazing. In the morning on a first start it throws bluish smoke for a sec and after it is fine.

    @PRC I see, I guess check the egr system for any leaks, was the inlet manifold ever cleaned? Check swirl flap condition and was the cam belt done? Check the torsion value with VCDS if available it should be 0 if possible

    @@enginemanagementadventures7305 new egr, inlet manifold and throttle body taken off and cleaned. They looked like new. It doesnt have swirl flaps it is a metal intake. All belts new,water pump, and all tensioners and it still has rough idle. I didnt checked torsion value. It had rough idle even before all the belts were chandged. Everything that can be done on this engine, has been done and still nothing. Injectors on vcds are flawless.

    @PRC I see all sounds good, with the EA288 16valve PD's the free flowing nature of the head lead to unstable idle, the indexable cam pulleys effect the injection timing, aim for a torsion value of O - it dramatically effects smoke on warmup.

    Doesn't work on cayc. Just idles for 1hr and gave up. Says it running and also glow plug light flashes all the time.

    Glow plug light should flash - did you enter security access directly after ECU power cycle. Also non genuine VCDS cables can cause problems.

    I have come to the conclusion this will only work if your engine ECU software is at least version 9972. My 2010 ECU software version is only at 8831 so not compatible with this test procedure .This is in relation to 1.6 TDI CAYC engine. If you disagree and have hands on experience,please comment and correct me.

    Hi did you ever get this to work with your softwear version? I can't get it to work with ours after changing an injector. Our version is showing 8803. Will it adapt itself by just driving the car?
