1.4 tsi can have 220 hp on stock internals, that's just amazing, but can't do it without a turbo, so turbos are in fact amazing

I have the same car with the same motor . Its automatic and I managed to reach 224 in the 7th gear with the rpm around 4000. Smoothest engine so far. Just love the drive on Autobahn as i m also living in Germany. In Germany we love to drive fast without aggression. Golf is absolutely a hot hatchback. One of my favorite for the life ❤

It’s pretty fast for a small engine! Just for 150HP it’s amazing

233.97km/h@5200rpm, as its real speed(calculated from gear ratio). It's excellent for 1.5-litres, 150bhp turbo unit.

You cannot calculate the top speed only from the gear ratio, you have to consider also weight and cw x A!

This is incredibly fast!

Honestly did not expect this from 150 hp.

Toyota had a more reliable 1300cc engine with 140hp in their small cars in 1990. VW are crooked assholes that make plastic junk that's designed to break and go in the landfill.

the manual gear box is a bit clunky and sluggish unfortunately, especially from first into second gear and third into second gear eventhough it feels pretty solid.

I have the same engine and gearbox in the Leon, with that kind speeds expect 8/9. But on normal driving with lower speeds i do 6/7s easily.

Germanic cars is the best in the world. I like German cars. Incredible!💪👆

Very good driving style! As fast as possible, but unaggressive against slower drivers!

These VW 1.5 TSI engines usually produce a bit more than stated.. and you can get around 20-25hp / 50nm more out of them with a chip tune without voiding warranty or exceeding max allowed turbo pressure. I got octavia mk3 late 2018 with 1.5 TSI. once I got it tuned it really woke up between 2.5-4.0k rpm where it was kinda eh before. It pulls really nice for its weight. Doesn't need revving out either once you got a good map on the ECU. Plenty of torque below 3k to pull its 1.3 tone weight. That said, I can not overstate enough - these engines NEED oil change every 8-10k kilometers. Especially since they're so low tolerance built and there's not much oil in there, only just above 4 liters.

A VW apenas tem previsao para manter no mercado brasileiro a anterior versão deste bloco, o EA211 de 1,4 litros. Isto porque esta nova versão tem uma complexidade de cabeçote, eletrônica, e lubrificação bastante grandes que dificilmente se adaptaria ao mercado brasileiro, por via das leis de lubrificantes e manutencao em vigor no pais. Por outro lado a VW nao vê lucro em fazer as adaptações necessárias para tornar viável essa entrada no mercado brasileiro, visto que o 1.4 tem sido sucesso pelo Brasil.

Cause he stays on the speeder.. It is just a bad shift.. Modern guys does not have a clue on how to shift a manual gearbox, they are grown up with DSG and others for handicapped people with no arms and legs..

By daily driving you will not notice the difference at all. Only at very hard acceleration with very high rpm's there is a slightly difference, but it is marginals. ;)
