VW Camper Bus Restoration | Underwood Garage 5
Ойын-сауық
Join my wife and I as we do our best to get this old VW camper bus back on the road.
In this episode, I update everyone on the bodywork and rust repair that has been completed or is in process on the VW bus.
We hope to do some traveling in it once it is restored and roadworthy.

You all are entertaining no matter what you do. It's like watching Mister Rogers working on a VW bus. Very zen to our ears.
I wanted to restore an old van until I started watching this series. Thank you.
shorter and more often!! I always love seeing some of these videos poping up, doesn't matter how long they are!
Shorter and more often!!! You guys are doing an awesome!
I saw you two in public tonight and thought better than to interrupt your evening. I really enjoy your videos and your witness. Thank you for all the work you do to produce these vlogs. Continued blessings!

Oh man! Would have loved to meet you! You are so welcome and thank you for the kind words!
I just bought a 1971 transporter bus.. I really love the way you make your videos. Anything is cool with me. You and your wife make a good team. I love that Doug
A KZreadr doing whatever a youtuber wishes is always the best kind of youtuber. And ps, thanks for the videos!
Clark, if only everyone could have a neighbour like you two! Truly you are a ray of sunshine. All the best over the holidays and in 2018! From the frozen white north!
I love your videos, the combination of DIY, life, and your (the two of you) sense of humor is the secret sauce that make them memorable. I think your current length and pace of release is working well. Bravo, keep up the good content!
Short, long doesn’t matter... bus is looking great 🚌🚌🚌
Shorter and more often! Can't wait to see you drive it!
Can’t wait for another update!!! I would also prefer the shorter videos more often ❤️ you guys are doing an amazing job!
Shorter more often vids please. Keep it up! I’m 12 years old and I want to live out of a VW when I’m older. So these videos really keep the dream alive. I have no idea how I’m gonna restore one because it looks really hard by these videos. So yeah, keep it up!
First let me complement you on your Mr Rogers sweater, you rock it Clark!! Second, the Westy is coming out awesome! You took on another HUGE undertaking with this one , just like the first one. And as far as the videos go, Im spoiled, and would love to see one every week, but also know that it takes a lot to produce them. But i can never have too much of the Underwoods!
"whatever you do, do it gracefully" is my motto!😎 It's good to see u guys no matter how long or often. My old van ('68- Marylou) went off to the UK last year😥I'll probably never see her again. It's good to know that I'm not alone with my 'madness' of loving old (& new) VW's. p.s. So your van's name is 'Sandy'😂
8 minutes isn't a long video, about right....great work...
I enjoy the mixture of projects and living life. Any length of video is great! Keep up the goods!
Woohoo, another bus update. Feels like the last one was a lifetime ago. Not bothered about video length or frequency, whatever works for you - just so long as they keep comin :)
Short long don’t matter you guys are awesome 👏
I would like the shorter/more often! Every video provides a smile and usually a chuckle! So more smiles in 2018! IMO:)
Medium size videos weekly and definitely more VW focused. #teamberta
Clark - always look forward to your videos... I was told, never leave steel bare, never touch it with bare hands -oil from a skin will cause problems, and use a respirator - my friend paints trucks for a living - all are those I learned from Jason Haag... also that sanding block is to move at 45 degree angles...and sandpaper has a really short life...
I would prefer more short videos, like covering baby steps.
You guys are the best! Even more than the content, I just enjoy watching the two of you. Thanks for putting a smile on my face. PS. Really good idea to ask for feedback - you get what you ask for, right? Now we all (almost all 😉) hope it'll give you the energy to make small updates a bit more often!
Big chunks. Excited.to see the progress.
Where the next stage.. love vw combi, really nice restoration..❤️❤️ from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Hey Clark! Use some primer surfacer over your filler spots, it’s made to build and fill surface imperfections, just make sure to spray etch primer on any bare metal as well before surfacer! -Joey
Love your vw restoration vids man, just you guys do the videos what ever way you want and we'll keep watchin, they're awesome :)
Hey Clark! Really love how you guys r coming along with the VW! I'm fixing up a 74 Kombi with my Mrs too and we'd looove to see how you do the welding work !! :-0 Shorter videos more often would be awesome! Just snippets of each little part u do would be great - can't wait to see more guysss 💪💪❤🔥
Definitely more shorter videos, you guys are making great progress and I'm always looking to see if you updated!
Yeees dude that’s looking really great. Just upload when you’re feeling good. More vids are more content to watch for us so let’s roll’it
Oh Clark, you make me smile.
Yep, me too: shorter Videos and more often ;) Ist nice to see something from you guys. greatings from Germany :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! keep up the good work :) can't wait to see more!
Your doing a great job . Front end is coming together
I Love These Restoration Videos !!!
Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. I really liked it. These VW restoration projects are wonderful to see. Have you been watching the Kombi Life videos? What a quality lady you’re with there. Intelligent, charming, funny, and easy on the eyes. Wishing you both well, and best of luck with the bus.
Dude you made my coffee so much better this morning. I could watch bus video's all day long. So short or long it does not matter. Maybe lots of updates with a monthly overview of progress. I hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!
As long as you upload continously videos, its fine. I'm exciting about the result of the restoration!
Can't wait for the new update man
Love you guys....On the videos what ever is easier for you.
longer chunks is always better!
Love the video man.
I kinda like the videos just like this one. Shorter, more frequent videos would probably be a bit more work and a drain on your zen-sanding time. I loved how you clarified that this isn't a "how-to" video but rather a video of how you did it ..... truth in advertising, I love it. I had a 1965 VW factory camper in 1970 and lived in it for 1.5 years and loved that bus. Drove it all over western North America and never spent a night in a campground. So many fond memories :-) Can't wait to travel with you guys in your camping adventure phase with it. Keep up the great work and Merry Christmas to y'all.
Shorter and more often! That way you won’t forget to include as much 😜
Do what YOU want to do and don't worry about us.

Ozarks Hillbilly , Love your canned Opossum pic . That made me laugh ! When my kids were little , they always wanted to know what I was cooking on the grill. Always told them it was possum. So they would ask for possum at every place we ate out. Grandma was shocked when they claimed to love possum ! LOL ! Love those Ozarks ! Eat more Possum ! 8 )
Shorter videos.....manyyyyy !!!.....this is way better than pewdiepie
Man so much respect! I'm trying to fix up my old 1970 Bug but my bodywork doesn't look nearly as clean as yours, because i'm not very patient... so yeah really love what you're doing so keep it up! And yes smaller more frequent videos would be cool

It is all about patience and persistence, you will get it there!
I'd say update whichever way gives you the most energy. If you want to film more of the process and make more vids then go with it. If you would rather focus more on the longer term stuff then go with that. Either way, it's always a good day when we get an update.
Unfortunately, I have not been following your progress over a long period of time. However, I did thoroughly enjoy binge watching these videos with the spare time on my hands. I first came across your channel from the first bus that you restored. Your story was very inspiring and something that I wish to accomplish myself. I am very glad that I have came across these videos and I want to congratulate you on all of your work. As far as the videos go, I am a habitual youtube watcher and my mornings are spent watching videos about things that interest me. Your videos have made it onto my watch list, so I would personally love to watch videos more frequently. In addition, I would like to know the overall cost of these restorations, for I am curious.
Short vids, more often or not, any content will do. You had a great formula with Sunday to Sunday! Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
Before final paint, get down on your creeper and paint the ENTIRE underside with POR-15 rust sealer, being sure to get into all the nooks and crannies, and over each wheel arch....Then go do the same thing to the ENTIRE floor surface...It'll never rust during your lifetime !!! Then prime and final paint.
dope ! thanks
Continuing my VW golf mk2 adventure, got a broken gear selection bushing at the moment.
I use a 46 mm socket and 1/2 breaker on rear nut to move my bus, leverage !
I would like to see more often vw content so that if there is like a tiny interesting detail maybe you can include it so that i can learn from that
good vid
Shorter vids i would have to say, and I love the vw ! My first car was a 1965 bug. Same year I was born, lol. I LOVED that car. What color you gonna paint it (or did I miss that?) VW vans are supercool.

The color has not been revealed!
I had an ‘09 Tiguan and been VW mechanic for 15 years. Got to say if you know anything about fixing air cooled....content won’t be a problem. “Adventures are what happens when shit hits the fan.” Short vids and come to Canada.
I prefer long chunks and often! I need also ger back to sanding, havent done anything to bus since summer :D. It seemed that you have two tail light holes per side? What kind of tail lights are they?
More frequent videos please
Definitely shorter and more often.
More often
I say more often the videos!
Enjoy your video's I'm restoring a 67 split-window lot of rust and new sheet metal to install... 63 years old health issues so there are big time gaps working on it Busman54

Thanks for saying so! There is nothing easy about rust removal keep with it! I would love to restore a split window one day.
Daily update vids!!!! J/K JK This is perfect length, keep up the great work. Will you post a pic on your Instagram of the decks on your back wall?
I would say that two a month would be like the perfect amount.
After applying the body filler putty, is that some sort of primer that you're spraying on at about 5:54?
Good job guys, i like your restoration and what about the engine side ?

clark underwood fantastic!! I wish you a wonderful adventure 😘
what type of welder setup are you using? i never see it in or around the garage.
I think you should continue to way it is. I really enjoy these videos because some progress really had happen. Theres lot of frequent videos like every week or so in youtube with empty content, nothing really happens or its forced to happen. Making videos I think is not the point, point is to put your Volkswagen back together and sometimes share bits of your story.
I like longer videos. Myself
Do it however it's best for you. You don't want it to be like a job or something.
