Vusi Thembekwayo on Wealth

Welcome to another episode of the VT Podcast, called Ideas That Matter. In this session, I talk about wealth; the science behind it and the difference between it and riches.
"You'll always be limited in your ability to create true wealth, as long as your earning potential is tied to your personal skill and how much you get paid per hour for that skill."
Listen in.

My mother was a domestic worker, she finished her higher certificate after she had me, went to college, and started an admin job. By then she had two girls, raising them on her own. She would later grow in her admin job and get her first degree in Industrial Psychology, and later an Honors Degree. She studied while she worked a full-time job and ran two businesses from home. By the age of 13, I was already helping at home in the family business, it is STILL alive till today, and she is now an entrepreneur for over 15 years. Where you are, is NOT where you will end up my love. You're loved, keep believing in yourself.

Spot on with the whispering - I've often driven through the "upper class suburbs" and noticed that time and again there's just an everage Polo parked in the driveway. Nothing to prove. Once you've created wealth for yourself, taking this a step further, there's inter-generational wealth, which I think is even more important.

Hi Vusi and everyone listening. Ive been listening to you for a while and this is my first time to your podcast. Just adding some more value on no 2) The Function Of Money Is To But Time. So its the concept of the WHO not HOW. I learned this from an Entrepreneur name Russell Brunson where he explains that entrepreneur a lot of time make the mistake of trying to figure out everything on their own and since time plays a very important factor in the entrepreneurs life, most get frustrated in the process. Instead what smart entrepreneurs do is "maximize their time by leveraging the expertise of other people and as a result gives them a greater competitive edge in the market" he says. They use their money to hire more experts rather than figuring everything on their own. I hope someone found value in this

@@tem1465 not everything can be bought... Or bought with money. That's where your people skills come in, your network, how good you are when it comes to influencing people. You'll be surprised how much people actually get offended when money is all you want to offer/bring to the table or throw at them or the problems you want solved. People want to feel valued and feel like they worth more than just money even when they are working for it. They simply don't want to feel 'bought'. So put your charm to work, use your words, appeal to their self interest, and influence them. You'll definitely get what you want.

Thank you for sharing my good Sir. Such insight goes a long way for those pursuing wealth, which is a journey I believe most of us should consciously start to embark on. But we get too caught up on doing things to please those around us and side line the idea of doing things for Us which of cause leads to loss of time and never reaching the end goal which got blurred over time. I for one really enjoyed and appreciate this pod. Thank you once again.

The reason it looks like wealthy people drive slightly old models is not that they bought used cars. The queen's cars were new when acquired, probably even customized, but use it for long with great maintenance, even when newer models are released. New money seeks constant approval by buying the latest, the flashiest.

How do i know that it will withstand a long period of time and end up in a positive? What assets would be considered income generating assets? Where do i start or recognise an opportunity or an asset

The answer to that question is extremely difficult. Id advice for you to contact wealth managers just to get you started but ultimately its to first invest in knowledge. I have no recommendation though.
