Never before has education encountered the number and severity of challenges it has faced in the past two years. Teachers, from being unaware and insecure when switching back and forth between offline and online classes, have now been better prepared for more possible switches. English Language Teaching (ELT) has also flexibly transformed itself to fit in. Now is a better time than ever for worldwide educators to start reshaping teachers’ and students’ roles, and to explore practical tools, platforms, and approaches with the aim of better accompanying students on their learning journey.
Consistent in its pursuit of keeping ELT teachers abreast of the evolution in language education, at the VUS TESOL 2022 conference with the theme “FUTURE ELT: Explorations and Practicalities”, we introduce new concepts of future ELT and invite delegates to reflect on where this concept might lead. We hope to meet the needs of educators and learners through the empirical research findings and latest developments in English language education.
