    Subtitles added in multiple languages. Check it out. CHANGE THE TIME: To change the time, press & hold the mode switch (up or down) & the adjust button simultaneously for 2 sec until the clock display blinks. Then with the same mode button up or down you put your setting and to jump to the minutes/ hours you use the adjust button. Once you put the time you press simultaneously for 2 sec the mode and adjust button and you are done.

    Just bought a lightly used almost still new 2020 Vstrom 650XT adventure. I know all of this is covered in the owners manual but as usual, your vid on all these features and operations is so much better than the manual. Best I've ever seen and can't thank you enough.

    Hello doctor. I just bought a brand new V strom from the store a week ago, and I'm so glad I came across your video. I think it is educational and will help many people. Before I bought this bike, I rode the previous version of the v strom for 7 years. I have over 100,000km on this bike so I can legitimately say I know it inside out. Of course, the third generation provides several extras that were missing from the previous bike. I mean....traction control. And it is precisely with him that my question is related. Is it possible that the traction control somehow affects the fuel consumption??? There is a strange feeling that the bike is slightly tripped when the traction control is on, and vice versa...when I turn it off, the bike becomes one idea more aggressive. It may just be a feeling.

    Correct, the TC reduces the power and therefore also the consumption when it kicks in. I personally only open it when it rains sometimes

    I’m a big V-Strom supporter; bought three new ones in the last 10 years - combined, close to 200 000 problem free kilometers. However, Suzuki will have to start bundling contemporary technology with their models. Having a TFT LCD display which includes GPS, Apple Play (or some derivation) tire pressure data and maintenance data/schedules is relatively inexpensive. Certainly, it’s a must if ‘Stroms are going to hold any market position. Also, Suzuki better hop on the trend towards preordering upgrades directly at the point of production. The basic ‘Strom is fine, but never again will I rip off and junk basic OEM components to replace them with better exhaust, brakes and suspension. Unless they produce an upgraded ‘Strom, I won’t be buying a fourth, but if they do . . . I will.

    Sure Walter I agree in some parts but then again I will never pay 20+ K for a motorcycle that is also not reliable in the main parts. There are some expensive brands out there whose prices are outrageous and their reliability is very low. I agree I m not happy with some parts from Suzuki as well.

  • @Bobab13

    It's a difficult situation for Suzuki. First of all, we will all agree that they struggle to bring real technological progress to their bikes. They are using the same tech over and over again with only minor improvements. Manageable traction control and ABS being the absolute minimum on such a bike by today's standard. Cheers to them for bringing the low rpm assist which is an absolute delight for low speed maneuver. On the other side, they are the most reliable bikes out there and they still manage to provide their customers with a pleasant riding experience without out all the geeky stuff and at a reasonable price. As far as I am concerned, the V-Strom is a work tool and I like that I stil can fix it on the side of the road if anything happens, not worrying about any computer glitch. It's a good, strong bike, that does the job anyday, anytime. Hopefully they will improve it (TFT display, cornering abs and traction control, better brakes and suspension...) but it will come at a cost ... both financial and in reliability.

    Doctor Vstrom, I also agree . . . that’s why being able to preorder more expensive components without being forced to buy the OEM components that come with the basic “dealership” bike is important. The TFT display is a no brainer and could be adapted to many Suzuki models, but I’d certainly pay $2000 - $3000 extra for upgraded seat, suspension, exhaust and brake components - “bespoke” bikes whose functionality can be accessorized at the point of production is the future. Hell, Suzuki could even provide a video link so consumers could watch their “personal” bike being built, crated and delivered.

    Baptiste Yes, I’ve been a Suzuki fan since the 1970’s, even bought four New Suzuki motorcycles. I still have a GS850G I bought new in 1980, it now has over 200 000 kilometers on the odo - it just doesn’t break. But I’ve also owned other makes and Honda is just as reliable, BMW - in my experience- is reliable ( I owned one with over 160 000 kilometers) but the cost of ownership is high. The new Triumph line is also reliable, classy and great value. So as much as I want to be loyal to Suzuki, they don’t make it easy. All that said, in my opinion the ‘Strom is one of the best motorcycles ever produced.

    Impressive wealth of knowledge! Thank you so much for your videos. I watched a few videos and have already subscribed and clicked the bell button to get all of your updates! I just bought a 2023 V-Strom 650 which will soon require its first (break-in) service. I am not a mechanic but I would absolutely love to work on my own bikes (I own 2 other bikes and 1 scooter). I browsed through your video library and I may have missed it but I didn't see a video talking about the first break-in service on a V-Strom 650. Do you have such video? If so, what is the link? If not, would you consider doing it? I know it would be super helpful for people such as myself that are new to both the bikes and at being a mechanic. It would be great to reference a video that talks about all the things the manual suggests for the break-in service. Not necessarily doing the first maintenance, but rather pointing out which bolts need to be checked for proper torque spec, how to lube the chain (I believe you already have a video on how to clean/lube the chain for a V-Strom 650), etc... essentially all items that need to be done on the first ever service. Thank you so much!

  • @DrVstrom

    @DrVstrom

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks. First service, do change the oil sooner at 800kms with the oil filter. If you have wire spoke wheels check for loose spokes. Check and lube the chain. When breaking in the engine do not twist the throttle suddenly but rather progressively. Make sure to avoid letting the engine idle for too long and avoid cruising on same speed. Just choose rides with great variability where you often shift gears and change speed. Everything else should be good.
