POG MOMENT? Oh! QUICK TIPPPPP. You do NOT need graphite for a steel mold. You only need a handle for the mold and some ice water! I tested it out with my Uncle and Cousin. I'M ALSO GOING TO MY UNCLES AGAIN ON SATURDAY. *edit* I forgot the steps, too. 1st, pour the metal. 2nd, wait about 30 seconds for the bar to cool down a bit and tap the mold on the ground. That will determine if the bar is solid or still liquid. And 3rd, dip the mold in the ice water. The bar will very slightly shrink, making the bar pop out!

I found big stack looking for more people teaching metallurgy, but this is it's own thing. My whole household will sit and Zen to these, dogs n cat too, tho that's likely just the company, I like to think seeing his dogs puts stars in their eyes

I agree. The whole thing is great. It's also really cool how you make sure and get it all like when you melt the slag and dust. It's also cool how you give leftovers to scrapper friends. Hell, I save every but, bolt, clip and screw from things I dismantle and either organize for my hardware drawers or give them to my pals. It's nice to see you doing that kind of stuff as well.

My teenage son and I have been watching your KZread vids for around a year now and like everything about them. We've built our own forge and have been melting and casting, partly using tips and techniques from you... so thanks! Since you were asking about our favorite parts I have to say I really appreciate the amount of time you spend editing and keeping things flowing. Those who don't actually do this on the side might not realize how much time is spent on a typical melt. Plus, getting the material, processing it to prepare for melting, etc. Lots of vids show WAY too much of it to extend the length. Yours are all good content plus we like the personal touches that allude to a dude in his garage, enjoying his hobby which is exactly what we are doing. As my son gets older he may not always want to hang with Dad so this is important time and you've helped to show us a mutual interest. Cheers!

What I like: 1.) Your goofy kid-like humor. My wife and I think its hilarious when you walk with small steps and film your feet lol 2.) Ice smashing is always a treat. Never can get old. 3.) We find it so funny when you have videos that have a story plot where you get in trouble by your wife and she gets you in trouble so you get bored and melt something. Really really comical! 4.) Love the video editing. Nothing ever gets drawn out and boring. 5.) I like your melting and casting too lol always appreciated your technical break downs of what is going on 6.) I dont see it much but I like it when you accidently find a metal in a break down that you weren't expecting and you put a funny *hungry face* emoji XD

I like it but also don’t. I watch to learn and having just a bit more texted commentary might be a good addition. Explaining for us newbies.

Personally, my favorite part is watching you keep track of where all the metal goes, sweeping it up and sorting it. I love seeing zero wasted material. Plus the quiet chill atmosphere of your vids really helps me chill out.

Just love how the calming effect of the melt just takes away the noises of life.

It's the seeing how much of what metal is in these everyday objects, the mixing of metals (making alloys: brass, Nordic gold etc), the prep, the melting, the pouring, the finishing to a mirror polish, and for some reason the value of it in all the different currencies. Also the weird things in between have a certain comedic edge to them - last week you taped the sleeve to your drink and I laughed; incredible

This is THE QUINTESSENTIAL BIGSTACKD video...a huge dismantling, bunch of different stuff, different melts and flames, the ice block and the water boil, the dogs eat plenty of cucumber (lol), the molds, the cleanup, the organization of the pieces, showing the clean up collection, a nice big pile of finished stuff... I'm gonna send this one out to my friends to get them started and subsequently hooked, like I got hooked just maybe a couple months ago, tops lol.. Cheers from NYC!

These videos are very relaxing for me. They’re quiet. You never say anything out loud. You never show your face, because it’s all about the melt. You are a man working a craft. That’s all people need to know. That makes you pure. Also I love your dogs. It means that you have passion as well as craftiness. And your taste in music is wonderful as you’re driving to the scrap yard. If I ever got a chance to go to Australia, I would want to go to the Perth area. I’ve heard the Indian Ocean is nice.

Ok so I'm new to your channel and I'd never would have thought that watching metals melting would be so relaxing.

I love to see how organized you are, all the efforts you make to gather all the leftovers and dust for future melts. I guess my favourite part is the pouring (and the doggos) 👌❤

It is not your melting process but your affection for your dogs.it is the thing I love most.it tells you are a nice human being.

I actually really like that there is no intro or other BS and its all just content that is watchable, I never find myself skipping through your videos

My 7 yo son and I watch a video of yours every night. He loves your dogs especially the little ice ones! He enjoys seeing the whole process and we are both cheering for you to hit your 1 tonne mark! Happy smelting from the USA

You disassembling the cabinet is oddly satisfying.

There is a balance to what you do that makes your videos so enjoyable. Of course, there's the dogs- who doesn't like dogs- but the ice thing is always good, as well as the beer, the flag and the ever increasing trophy cabinet and your weight/value info. Just keep doing what you do. I reckon most subscribers here would agree.

Honestly it is all of it, and the fact that you do not screw around with a bunch of idle chit chat, you find stuff to tear apart and break down. Melt it all and show me what is left over, I am absolutely entertained and you do not have to say a word.

Its the feeling like I've learned something without you ever speaking a word. It inspires me to become a recycler/reclaimer.

Yeah the dogs, the cheers to beers, no unnecessary commentary, these are things that make the video even greater to watch. The juice is watching the process of melting....It's comforting, like watching something being cleaned to a polish. It just scratches that itch, that can almost be described as an OCD...But more like watching a fire while enjoying some cocoa, and less of compulsive feeling??? Idk, how to describe it, but watching this is fascinating.

Anything with dogs will always be my favorite. We have lost 3 of our 4 babies in the last year and my heart breaks everyday. I love seeing other people love dogs. But literally the whole thing is awesome. I just truly enjoy watching the start to finish product. I honestly thought why is YT recommending this to me and I watched one video and became addicted.

We show up for the melts, but we're really just here for Ingot and Bullion.

I think it's kinda cool how you show how to take care of all the tools and things that you use for this type of stuff. Also, definitely nice not having any talking, only focused on the casting process and the dogs. None of the usual "KZread personality" stuff. Honestly refreshing.

I pretty much like everything about this channel from the underlying humor to the final product.

My fav part is watching it go from such sophisticated materials made by man back to its original form. It’s like the exact opposite of stepping on a lego.

I always thought that was such a cool touch. I remember the first time I saw it and I was 'wtf? Is this guy seriously flaunting how rich he is by using money to start off his forge??? Then 10 seconds later realized it had to be play money. Confirmed shortly after. You have to be a serious idiot to think BigD was burning money all the time, but I guess there were enough serious idiots to make The Man drop the gimmick. Yes, I like the melting, and the pouring, and the dogs, and the ice, and just typically a few other things too. I actually enjoy no narrations. Great natural sounds.

My favorites: 1. When I watch the metal go from solid to liquid, Really sattisfying. 2. When you drop the tiny rocks on the ice, Before the big boss attack. smashes the ice. 3 When you socialice with your dogs. So cute

Honestly the best part of these videos, in my opinion, is the practicality of the whole thing. You can make most anything by casting, and by using free materials, why not.

Hard to pick a favorite part. I like all of it: Melting down trash to make beautiful shiny bars, adorable puppies, satisfying metal pouring.

"The melting, the pouring, the ice, or the dogs?" All of those things honestly. It all combines to be my wind down at the end of the week. Love the occasional weird colored flames like this one produced.

Hello from South Wales. The dogs of course but mainly it's the BigstackD 'stack's march toward that one tonne finish line, and the work you have to do to reach it, You'r video's are also very entertaining in the way they're put together.

For me it’s the dogs, the funny commentary, and the braking down of different things to get the metals to melt

i love how you are careful and take all safety precautions, preheating everything. You are a good example for other salvagers. I don't like to see how others seems disorganized and move sloppily around with dangerous hot metals.

I'm still waiting for the day you disarm some electric motor weighing 100 kilos or more ... it would be epic

I work for an electric motor rewind shop. I have tons of scrap motors that ate now a new mission. I have built my own furnace and am practicing your trade. The I like most is that you take time to video this wonderful trade and teach people how to turn crap into treasure. Thank you man. Cheers!

i atleast like to watch this because its a friday-tradition now, late brekkie and some melted metal. as to Why ? idk, but iadk why i keep wathcing primitive technology make a new pot or build a new house out of straw, or why i enjoy watching handtool rescue bonk his head at the sandingstation. possibly because its quiet in a world that´s screaming at us every chance it gets, possibly because its nice to see a craft being perfected as you watch. while you learn, i also learn but with much less sweat and tears. also, doggos are nice.

i love the OCD and the calmness of how you work and the calmness of your relationship with your dogs. and that your an aussie and are proud of it, and act like it😂

I like just about everything in your videos, the lack of background music is a _huge_ bonus. The touches of humour always make me smile too.

My wife and I have a habit now of putting your channel on and going to sleep to it. It plays for hours. Relaxing like a Bob Ross painting show.

I have a thought on a possibility for a future pour, Pick one of your Tattoos, and create a 3D print of it, then bring it to Life, by Casting it in your favorite metal. Does anyone like this idea???

I like everything you mentioned and more, I like your cool, quirky socks, the fact that you don't waste anything, the trips to the salvage yard, the ice cool downs, how pretty your area is and that you seem to know how to take apart everything and anything but my absolute favorites are the boys, Ingot and Bullion.

I'm a fan of the whole video. The tear down, the melting, the pouring, the dogs, the flag. Being a statesider, it's nice to see how united the world can be

I love the videos because they are hypnotize me: as a person with Aspergers, I tend to stick to same procedures everyday. And this is what I experience here as well. Same procedure in every video. This makes me feel comfortable. Besides from that I really like the fact that you are doing the opposite of production - recycling, dismantling and sorting. These processes make me feel good. I love that you make it dirty sometimes (like when dust is flying all over the place) but then clean it up afterwards and sit down to relax. All these manly procedures make me feel great and relaxed. I miss some details about the smelting and I would like one day to see a full process video, unedited. Thank you from Ukraine!

To answer your question it’s the whole package. You’ve seen the “satisfying” videos where someone is thinly slicing stuff like styrofoam etc...Well this is the awesome version of that. The dogs are an added bonus!! Speaking for myself in a high stress position at work, this calms my brain and is sooo satisfying ✌🏼

Full head to toe shots of the man himself in this one! A few more years and we may see his face. 😂 Actually I think not showing his face and not doing voiceover go well together. A person undefined (or less defined) appeals to more people as there are less assumptions (prejudice) that can be made.

@@Danbatio I have the same theory too bc I've been seeing that amount of dislikes in many niche videos (such as detailing vids) it's usually in the forties. A very strange phenomenon.

For me I enjoy watching you hunt for scrap and break down pieces like you did in this video.
