@@allyspeedruns Yeah, I really hate how GDQ is going, they won't accept entertaining runs, but will accept runs just because they are made by a staff member even though they are cheated.

In the future, could you put a dark backdrop on the description box or a black outline around the letters? The description you gave to Superhot at 9:33 is a bit hard to read.

Maybe title the video differently to reflect the fact that this is just a showcase? I went into this expecting something completely different

SUPER HOT VR wr is so impresive

That super hot speedrun is insane. As in watching it, it seems almost like it is too fast to be human possible while at the same time clearly being a human because of the naturalness of the movement. The level of muscle memory it must have taken is impressive.

I thought this video was gonna be about you explaining the VR Speedrunning community. Quite the opposite.

Amazing video! I like the simplicity of showing what the runs look like with a non-intrusive description of what each run is like. I'd love to see more content like this on top of the stuff you usually do.

_To The Top_ speedrun could just be described with the onomatopoeia of _"patapatapatapatawhooooshpatapatapatawhoooosh"._ I've played this one and SuperHot VR. TTP lets you "throw yourself" by holding a (coloured) climbing surface with both hands and releasing them at the same time. It's not as satisfying as actually throwing yourself along, like _The Climb_ or _Climbey,_ but at least it won't dislocate your shoulders. And I feel that SuperHot (normal, VR, and Mind-Control-Delete) is best enjoyed slowly. You're in a Quentin Tarantino intro where time only moves when you move (and only moves negligibly if you don't). Speedrunning it just robs it of its gimmick, albeit in a very impressive way.

Who would have thought that Journey's "Threshold" would work wonders with The Climb lol

The Super hot one was sick... They all were really, but especially the last one. This just reinforces my belief that VR in speedrunning has amazing potential. It may not be as easy to get into because of money and whatnot, but it's so much more impressive than traditional speedrunning that I cannot wait until we have better tech that allows for complete movement of the body, legs and all. I do love me some traditional speedrunning, just that doing it in VR is crazy to think about- considering that you actually have to mimic real life movements, more or less. Imagine seeing a VR segment at a speedrunning event live- I'm assuming that it hasn't happened yet, definitely not in a big event like GDQ. I can't wait for that day, though.

It's funny, while so many speedruns in normal games exploit absolutely nutty skips to bypass the bulk of the game, VR speedruns almost work as a demo in their own right of the game just because of how integrated with the experience the gameplay is.

Most speedrunned game are old game, so there was lot of programming error, or tricks to save up time/space/calcul who under specific circumstances turn into flaws (like using the same space for 2 variables who are supposed to be called at 2 exclusives times) VR games are recents, so there little to no reason to try ll thoses trick than might create flaws later on, and since programming and video game had matured a lot there is far less errors. On top of tat VR games usually restrict a lot what ythe player can do at a given moment, give the same liberty than in an elder scroll or mario and the number of glitch abuse will skyrocket.

That statement is kinda based on a technicality; most games in general are old, depending on where you draw the line of old vs new games. For an example of my point, I wouldn't consider Halo 5 or Prey to be old games, but both of those in Any% involve going out of bounds for the vast majority of the run. Normal KB+M or controller input tends to be more predictable, meaning that devs can leave holes in places players couldn't possibly get to (only they do) and it's no problem for them. In VR, you have to actually account for having a player that can just casually stroll through the scenery, making VR games much more tightly coded to prevent that from having lasting ramifications.

The Super Hot clips were very satisfying.

I thought this would be more of a discussion or explanation type video rather than a showcase of some VR speedruns. However, this was still thoroughly entertaining to watch, in spite of it not being what I was expecting.

@@CallumEM I can promise that is not true. I'm running a 4k monitor 144hz and run quite a number of games on high settings. My setup is fine. Yes the higher the frame rate helps, but it's about motion sickness which is not something frame rate assists with.

Super hot BR has to be one of my favorite games ever.

I can't wait until games reach maximum immersiveness and speedrunners start hyperspeed hardcore-parkouring around IRL neighborhoods.

Wow. VR speedrunning looks wild and mildly disorientating at times. Not sure if it would be for me, but it, without a doubt, will improve massively in the near future. It's almost frightening if you consider where it will be headed eventually.

So speedrunning ASMR is a thing apparently. I am not even upset I just woulda liked to know.
