VR ROAR! - 3000GT VR4 - How to replace the rear wheel bearings - NO PRESS

How to replace the rear wheel bearings on the 3000GT VR4.
Our 95k mile 1995 VR4 had a loud roaring sound anytime we drive over about 30mph. We had paperwork from a previous owner showing the driver’s side had been done. Using TIMKIN bearings and seals we tackled the passenger side.
At the time this video was uploaded, no videos or detailed write ups exist of this process. I do wish I had gotten a little better video of some of the steps, but trial and error and the need to run out and get a tool threw off production.
Tools needed:
12mm socket
14mm socket & wrench
27mm socket
30mm socket
Ratchet / wrench / impact
3 jaw puller
Dead blow hammer or rubber mallet
Parts were purchased from Rockauto.com (not a sponsor)

Hi Adam, just subscribed. Excellent, and much appreciated, tape diagram explanation of the bearing order. Those types of visual supplementary explanations are very helpful and ensure that your job goes smoother than going in blind. Awesome vid.

Great video man! This helped me understand the process a lot better. It's a bummer we can't buy the whole read hub assembly anymore.

Was about to comment, Mitsubishi doesn't use 13 mm Fasteners. Don't know if they're superstitious or what but I dig it LOL

How do you remove the axle after you've removed all the bolts?

I’m just curious how you got the abs tone ring off without a press. Just got rear wheel bearings and the propellant shaft support bearings for my 91’ 3000GT VR-4 the other day. Fresh rod bearings are in, new turbos were done a while back, new injectors, fuel pump, and management. Solid motor and trans mounts too!

Constant roaring sound. Consistent over about 30mph. Think road noise but louder.

Have you thought about doing a rear strut replacement video on the VR4? I own one to.

@@christiannieto9552 $12k cash to a young guy in Texas who’s family has two other VR4s, one identical to this one. Made a little profit. Had a little fun. Kept a cool car on the road a little longer. Doesn’t get better than that. 😃

Are you a fan of the VR4? What repair jobs for your car have you tried to find DIY’s for but couldn’t?

Watching this doing research on my Galant VR4 rear wheel bearing. About to do the front inner tie rod ends, may do a video on that. Aside from that the rear wheel bearings are the only things that haven't been freshened up.
