VR Boxing on hard (Lightning in Thrill of the Fight)

Continuation of the series where I'm working through each of the fighters on the outclassed difficulty. My settings are small gloves, wrapped wrists simulation, and 1x mass multipliers.
Looking forward to Thrill of the Fight 2 multiplayer!

This is one of the best games on VR ever… it simulates some aspects of boxing really well. I’m a pretty lazy person, I hate pointless exercising like working out in a gym or running, but real life boxing is the only exercise that I can do until I’m completely and utterly exhausted and fell good about it and this game translate that into VR flawlessly. The first time I played it, I felt tired just like it did when I trained boxing years ago and in the end you feel like you actually accomplished something.

I love this game and play it a lot, it's a great workout, lots of fun and actually teaches a little about boxing. There is one thing I don't like though, after you knock someone down, it should be easier to knock them down again, but often the AI just jumps up and acts like they haven't just dragged their butt off the canvas.
@trivialbeingplays

I think there is a bit of a dynamic where they're easier to knock down the second time, but it's subtle. I think it also cuts the other way; you as the player get knocked down more easily right after being knocked down.
@jakelauer2599

In my experience, if you go on the attack right after they get back up you will have an easier time knocking them down again.
@PerfectAim

damage/AI defense in general is pretty poorly done. No matter how hard you swing or how many times you hit them clean it comes down to whether or not you happen to hit the miniscule hitboxes that trigger a knockdown. It's pretty easy to connect with 20-30 hard consecutive punches, and nine times out of ten you won't get a knockdown. The automatic force adjustment doesn't help things either.
@bekeneel

It depends, on outclassed I play and after a few rounds they go down, and then they're like finished pretty much.. Maybe if u knock em down with 1 punch earlier it's different, but I don't get that often. What I rezally don't like about the game tho is how you can get knocked down from a punch that isn't fair, or couldn't have hit you hard etc, had that so many times.

I have some martial arts and boxing in my background but that is not how I use this training app. Since there is no worry about CRT, I try to go full out for 3 minutes. My punches become weak after just a short while but my goal is to get my cardio up. I guess I must have some form because I have never been knocked out and I seldom get knocked down. In my mind I think I am that old warner brothers cartoon character the Tasmanian Devil. I am up to 6 full out rounds and any rounds after that are just regular stalking, blocking, counter, bla, bla and then I just resign because that is not my goal in the app. But man oh man, I do love watching how to do real VR boxing and your form seems to be superb. Good job on the boxing and the Vid. Oh, btw, Thrill of the Fight truly is the best game ever . . . . and I am a long, long, long, time gamer. (TI99>C64)

You have good uppercuts. You are generating consistent force on those punches compared to what I see others do. Your hooks are generating comparable speed to what other good players generate, but it is your uppercuts that are a bit unusual. Most players have a tough time being accurate with the uppercut in TOTF let alone generating numbers around 3,500. For me, I have found that the easiest punch to generate a lot of power in is the long range overhand right hook. You can put your entire body behind it and accelerate the punch for a longer period of time. It also hits the opponent in the temple and helps make knockouts easier. Good work.

Wow it seems much harder now with your new settings. In the walkthrough you tko him in first round. But now i am a bit relieved because i see you have to put more effort in. I tried so hard today with a constant 1x multiplier + outclassed but lost against lighting and the previous fights i only won by points and that frustrated me so hard cause you made it so easy in the walkthrough. But i have to practice the counters because i get so rare yellow punches, maybe i am not fast or precise enough.
