I agree it should be added to the games, but I think the official ports are very barebones. I don't think they have support for things like this. GZDoom is way more advanced than the official ports.

​@@Vynzentthe official ports use unity with the OG game code being ported over pretty much untouched, but the rendering being handled by unity. So it could be possible.

@@Vynzent At the very least it has official community add-on support even for all the console releases, which is more than what I can say for most game re-releases. It's definitely not up to the quality of developers like the ones at Nightdive, but for now it gets the job done. I do wish that they'd let Nightdive add some content for Doom and Doom II though, because I think they can still do a lot of stuff with them. Rise of The Triad Ludicrous Edition is a good example for a comparison. It even has a level editor and support for Steam Workshop.

​@Underqualified_Gunman Unity is only used as a wrapper, it's still emulating the original Doom engine in its entirety inside it, rendering included. That's why the add-ons have been limited to ones that work with the original engine.

Awesome!! I hope that this get lots of coverage in general after the release; it would be really cool if the old-school ID Software guys like John Romeo took notice of this release because of media coverage.

Finally. The day this releases Doom will be forever elevated for me, like no joke I'll never take this off my autoload.

The doom1 voxel project inspired my first full nightmare playthrough... honestly, though, I don't think I have the time or patience to do the same for Doom2 lol. Thy Flesh Consumed took longer than the first 3 episodes combined

Honestly, it's a really good thing that you can't even tell that these sprites are models from a distance. They perfectly blend in with the rest of the levels. Now all you gotta do is add voxel versions of the player weapons and it's perfect!

Stellar work, this is, in my opinion, the best style for a 3D take on pixel art. Bravo.

This is incredible work. I began creating a voxel model replacement a long time ago. Only completed a few frames of the imp before I gave up. I can't imagine the amount of hours that went into this.

A perfect balance between preserving the original look, but getting rid of the annoying "paper cutout that always faces you" problem of the original 2D sprites. Excellent work!

This with voxelized weapons in the same style will be the ultimate 3d conversion for Doom

This is legit the best trailer DOOM has ever got. If business and marketing in the 90s was like it is today, this would be THE DOOM trailer. Twisted Sister and DOOM are Eternal.

Just discovered this via another channel. I'm late to the party, but this is awesome. I love that you decided to be faithful to the pixel art. It's clearly the way to go. This is what puts this above all attempts at enemy models. I'll be trying that now. Hope it works with most other mods and wads.
