Cook Woods is awesome. I live about a mile from his shop and have spent many hours just looking. He has some stunning pieces.
Recently found your channel and I really enjoy watching your new and old content. I've been woodworking for many years and now that I've retired, I'm thinking of getting into turning. I like how you explain everything, make jokes and I really enjoy all of your finished products. You make it look so easy but I know it's very hard to do. Thanks so much and stay healthy and safe.
A lot of fun. Really enjoyed this project.
Nice Tim. Good to see more from you again. Thank you for detailing the mortise and wormscrew use.
Thanks Tim - I loved this. I'm going to my shop and turn one of these. I just bought some of the Easy Wood tools and I can't wait to use them. You always give great tips to young turners and to old turners like me.
Watching your videos is so relaxing and satisfying!
I enjoy your channel very much. I have been turning for a couple of years and have learned a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Great work Tim. It came up a treat.
Thanks for a very informative video with a lovely end result. Keep up the great work Tim. 👍
Hello from Northern Canada. Awesome job! I did enjoy how you explained how you used the tools. Great knowledge for a newbie.
I had just tried to turn a blank that had the same chalenges as this one you showed. Fortunately, I stopped to wait until I built more skills to try it, so this gorgeous blank wasn't wasted. You addressed each of the problems I encountered to I may end up with a nice piece from this, after all. Thanks so much, Tim!
Great video! You always provide cool tips & tricks that are a huge help.
Another cracking video Tim…..Thanks👍👏👏👏😃
Really nice job thanks for all your great videos
You are the Bob Ross of wood turning!
GREAT video and I like the way you narrate during the turning...especially what speed you are turning at. I'm going to make a couple of these with smaller pieces of wood and use battery powered votive "candles". They will be for my granddaughters and for children that's a safer option.
Very nice piece Thanks for sharing.
I wish I got a giant box of exotic woods sent to me! Awesome video Tim. Your explanations of technique are fantastic. Keep up the great work.

Mike Marroquin - me too. These exotic wood types are great, but wow...expensive for a bowl blank.

@@markb8954 Yeah, I agree too. That sanding dust, don't dare inhaling it! Get the sucker going to protect the lungs, replacements are a really big deal. Some of these exotics are carcinogenic - beware. Best regards.
Tim is a super instructor.
you make me want to turn again so much. still looking for a good machine but ill find one soon lol. love you vids and have watched them all. kepp turning them out lol
Tim, you just make me smile,...you sure remember the history,...screw's,...well, nice project, as always,...and if you can, send me that lathe,...not asking for much,...all the best Sir,...
Nice work mate.
Beautifully!
beautiful wood
Wonderful video.
I second the request for a link to Cook. Very nice piece although I think I prefer the original design. Great color. Thanks, Tim, I always enjoy watching your work.

Thank u verry much ur sharing this wonderful Creative wood working vidio.
Love seeing a fellow Okie turning beautiful pieces! Will be picking your brain (videos) so I can figure this turning thing out! Lol Keep up the good work!
Tim; It is possible to hone the carbide cutters easily. Put the cutter cutting edge down on a credit card diamond hone with a drop of two of water. Move in a figure 8 pattern 8 times, rotate 90 degrees, repeat 3 more times. Wipe the hone and bit. DONE! I have carbide bits that are YEARS old. I recently had to replace one. it was getting too thin!

Randy Smith glad you commented, it’s a bizarre thing people thinking they should throw away carbide tips, what a massive waste, they’re the easiest woodturning tool there is to sharpen!
I used blood wood on a desk for my son. I’ve never gotten so many slivers in my lifetime.
Tim although i enjoy most of what you do I really think you made hard work of turning what is a simple shape. You do not need to spend a small fortune on carbide scrapers to achieve good results. Simply using a push cut working left handed from small to big using a 3/8 bowl gouge as you would do turning the outside of a bowl. You achieve two things simultaneously . You turn it to round and achieve your required shape at the same time. You would not have any chunks coming off doing it this way. Colin Parr
I really like this project. Have you ever thought of parting the peace on the tip of the bottom and top of the curves and making a bowl with a lid as well? Keeping the cut sharp to hide the fact that it is two peace's. Just a thought. Good tips. Thanks
Very very beautifull
i've found it a lot easier to trim the corners of large pieces at about a 45 degree angle close to round size before turning them. reduces rounding time and dust. Saves tool edges, too
killer as always Tim. where do you get your abranet discs and that attachment to the drill. looked around but reviews are saying they fall apart and i know you are in the know haha. keep turning and be safe.
That’s a really romantic turning ;)
Hi Tim Once again an excellent presentation and a nice swanky named project. I would disagree with Max N about scrapers. You should use the tool that gets the best finish and scrapers do it in this instance. However, I would like you also to stop calling them scrapers. They are Carbide Shapers, far better description of the tool's function. Finally, I have found over the years that you can take Shaper Tips off the tool and hone the flat side and that lengthens the life of the tip. When do we get to see the highly skilled cameraman who makes you look fantastic, surely he should take a bow from time to time? Cheers
Hello Tim, i've Seen a Lot of people turning with those carbite Tools ... I am a Woodtuner too, but i want to learn how to use the old good gouges and not scrapers... Pls turn more with gouges. Greetings from Germany 👌
I also sharpen my carbide bits on a diamond stone ive been doing it for a couple of years know not thrown one away yet
Tim, long time fan of your show and a turner also...question?how do I keep my face shield from fogging up with my breathe, I've the same set up as you for the most part for face shields but they keep on fogging until I either hold my breathe or give it up all together.hope you can help.
First, and I love your videos tim
You can sharpen carbide on a diamond stone.
Good morning Tim, I like your four jaw chuck and I would love one like that but the price is very high for my purse ! Is it worth the money ??? kind regards Lutz
I like what you are saying about moving your body or hips. So how can I do it for a wheelchair?
I always cut the corners off before I chuck the piece. I end up using the cutoffs for pen blanks. Cool project though
You can sharpen the carbide. Use the credit card style diamond file. It's not as sharp but you can sharpen them
I loved the instructional aspects, but I do have concerns about the exotic wood sources.
So could those shavings be turned into a stain then?
Maybe try a PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) tipped insert with a high positive rake from metal cutting industry. It will outlast carbide inserts 10 to one.
If your finished piece is going to be round, why not cut off the corners on the band saw to make it octagonal. That way you don’t tear out the wood at the corners.
Tim, I love the piece and the shape. I have a question about your selection of the carbide tool. It looks like you selected the mini-rougher based upon the length of the handle. Is there a reason why this tool was selected over the midsized or full sized tool? Thanks in advance.

The longer handle is a lot heavier for me so I seem to have better fine control with the short handle. If you are taking large enough cuts that you need the long handle you are probably taking too large of a cut.
Hello Tim, great job , could I ask you what sort of chuck you are using, it looks good quality with less sharp edges! Lutz from the UK

Tim, how hard would it be to turn a rotating cheese board. I was thinking about using either maple or cherry. Can this be done?

Tim. Wear a mask. I know, I hate em too but after yesterday in the shop all day turning and waking at 4am this morning, nose/sinus stopped up because I didn't. Well enough said. Have a healthy life. Ps, love your videos.
Wonderful but would have turned away the chuck Mark's from bottom!
