    Not just giving up money; it's actually costing me to review these machines. I do this because I care about what's true. I was called to arms, as it were, by the nasty bunch of 'rabid vacuum enthusiasts' out there who are disturbingly tribal and seemingly undereducated. They confuse (or wilfully portray) their subjective opinions as objective facts and someone needed to counter that with a dose of reality. This channel's myth-busting content has fact-checked and exposed the often dirty tricks used to mislead innocent viewers. All they've got left now is 'offense'-taking and smear attempts.

    What an excellent video I wish there were more like this out there. I have one myself and agree it is very cumbersome putting on the tools etc however, I am a fan of bags but, having seen your video I am considering a dyson as I will be having more carpets fitted. However, tried one in a store once and found the dust smell blew out at my face because of the positioning of the vents. That was a few years ago though so maybe they have improved that aspect and it was a shop demo.

    When vacuuming the floor, the exhaust doesn't blow in your face. If it's above floor cleaning, it could, but you can easily change the angle to avoid that. And the exhaust air is now fully HEPA filtered to higher standards than any other machine on the market that I'm aware of, and so will be cleaner than the air you normally breath. The latest flagship cordless (Absolute+) and the new 'Detail cleaning kit' is the best performing and easiest thing I've ever used by far. You can always take advantage of their 35-day money back guarantee so you can effectively try before you commit to buy.

    Dyson fact: To sufficiently implement Kinetic on their cordless vacuum, Dyson needs more powerful motor to make it work effectively. For a motor to be more powerful, it needs more power. And if you want more power, you need a better battery that can handle all the power. It's the battery that's the main limitation of the current Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners, and therefore, it's probably the last thing needed to allow Dyson to implement the Kinetic tips from some of their final main vacuums into their new cordless vacuum.

    Your comment is completely off-topic and incorrect. My Cinetic videos explain things correctly. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jGeBx8imedLaZrA.html In summary, better cyclonic filtration is achieved with greater volumetric airflow. This is already achieved with their market-leading ultra-power-dense digital motors, so you're simply wrong to suggest "Dyson needs more powerful motor". The Achilles' heel is actually the Li-ion battery technology, which lacks capacity (energy density / specific energy) to sustain the powers necessary to provide mains-like volumetric flows for long enough in a convenient handheld formfactor.

    Have you ever vacuumed a hardfoor twice to test how much dust is left? I experienced with my cylinder vacuum with a hardfloor head that some dust remains after the second cleaning and emptening the bin. Even than i clean thoroughly the first time still some dust remains. I think this happens because a cylinder vacuum blows air close to the ground and some dust fly away so not all can be sucked in the first time. I think this is the main reason. The second reason is maybe that the non rotating head cleans not so thoroughly like a rotating head. What do you think?

    Yes, except look at all those idiots out there (the rabid vacuum enthusiast types) who were banging on and on, without evidence, about how good the Vorwek machines were compared to the V15. As usual, they're at odds with reality and once again, it took me to show it, given everyone else on the entirety of YT utterly failed to. 1) Yes because boost mode for pre-cleaning for testing purposes would drain the battery I need for testing the V15 machine. I otherwise never use it and I may get rid of it as battery tech improves. 2) Prediction: world's first major consumer product solid state battery; google dyson solid state battery production. Otherwise, no idea. And look at the performance of the V15. I should have measured the eco and boost performance in its review. I just assumed there were no significant performance changes, but I was completely wrong. I'll hopefully not make that mistake again. Boost mode is insane.

It’s deffo better than a Kirby I got the Avalir with the latest style emptor and stiffer brushbar so it’s basically their most powerful one and I’ve been using that daily for a while till I got fed up of it. Then I went back to using the V15 and the brushbar got insanely dusty with fine dust and even here and there it just boosts the suction cos it knows the carpet is dusty regardless of how well I vacuumed with the Kirby. They’re overrated I really hope the solid state battery comes out in the next model that would be a huge leap forward on its own. You only need to look back at the worst of the bad actors on YT out there, who right from the V10 launch, claimed they weren't mains replacements. Not only has the data shown time and again they're deluded, but the V15 is one of the best performing machines out there of any machine (albeit in boost), showing that cordless can not only match, but exceed most mains performance. In auto mode (when detecting dirt to boost it temporarily), it exceeds Turbo head Henry mains performance. The V15 is the best machine I've ever used, and I was quite hostile to it initially over the V11.

    The main advantage with any bagged cleaner is that you do not have to clean the filters - the bag is the filter. Every bagless cleaner on the market requires the filters to be cleaned regularly which are always full of dust (otherwise you will loose suction).

  • @VacuumFacts

    @VacuumFacts

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, except bagged cleaners still have filters, but we'll ignore that, right. Furthermore, what you've said is a half-truth, and the unspoken counterpart is discussed here kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqiCks2kf9etg7A.html . It turns out that 'advantage' you speak of (which again, isn't quite true) comes with lots of inherent disadvantages-namely ongoing running costs, huge environmental impact when scaled up across a nation, the need to manage having more bags in stock, the hassle of changing them, the loss of suction as fine dust accumulates, accumulation of foul odours, running costs if you buy perfumes to mask the smell and so on. The cheap knock-off Dyson clones primarily rely on filters for fine dust and so, yes, they do clog awfuly and are terrible products. This is not true for the original bagless cleaner; Dyson's cyclones relegate the filter to be a last line of defense, and requires rinsing relatively infrequently (mainly if odours accumulate), as shown here kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmek1LqLXcTLf8o.html , and that only takes a day (or less if you have a cool fan). So there's far, far more to the situation than was trivialised in your comment.

    In my V15 review ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKN3rtmRc7mqo84.html ), I regret not bothering to measure the performance of eco and boost modes. They had clearly improved the technology and performance of the machine and I overlooked it! Eco mode, with the front gates closed, performs stunningly well, and you get ~75 mins out of it with a single battery. And boost mode shocked me with its performance-outperforming the ball animal 2 final mains cleaner, which had been formally measured in independent industry standard testing as having the best cleaning performance on the market! That auto mode (with reactive suction) produces cleaning performance better than a typical good mains cleaner, really shows how far Dyson's cordless technology has come and how staggeringly beyond the competition they are. I really regret not including this in the V15 review.

  • @parwaz7861

    @parwaz7861

    2 жыл бұрын

    So is eco mode of the v15 with the head on + mode good enough to be on par with the latest dyson ball uprights? Cos on auto mode if I use that with the gates shut then the brushbar slows down on my medium pile carpets and even some thin pile carpets too, I wish the brushbar motors had more torque to prevent themselves slowing down so I’ve been using the v10 head on my v15 lately The suction is great, it’s just the brushbar motor that can’t handle the suction sometimes and I’d rather close the gates on the head for a deeper clean I know the v10 head has vents on the front but the brushbar spins at an adequate speed constantly

  • @VacuumFacts

    @VacuumFacts

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@parwaz7861 Eco+ mode does not perform as well as the Ball 2 (final) mains machine (see graph in video). Clamping suggests airflow restriction limitations driven by the pile, drawing the carpet into the head too much to impair the brushbar. Such carpets are airflow-limiting in a way increasing suction can't compensate for. So, auto/boost won't necessarily improve performance, nor will more torque, which will just increase wear on the brush bar and carpet. Might want to check the carpets are pinned down properly and also taut enough to prevent them lifting into the head too much.

    Dyson made the mistake of not launching their V15 product line variants at once. I wanted the top model, so, like many, apparently, I returned the original and got the complete model. I was going to do a video on it but it only came with a light pipe which isn't that amazing because the light is too intense in one spot like a laser, and the HEPA filter media seemed the same (supporting some rumours it was, but not 100% sure). So I've had it since about 1 day after I launched the V15 review video. I may do a 1 year update, but not sure there's any point. Summary: it's amazing, the best cleaner I've ever used, performs better than anything I've ever measured, and I was wrong to be skeptical about the value of the changes it introduced over the V11.

    I recently replaced my V11 with the vorwerk VB100. Whilst I understand many points you make, I have to say for day to day cleaning the vorwerk is far easier to live with. It’s more comfortable to use, more hygienic to empty. It suites my cleaning needs far more than the dyson did. My mother paid £750 for her vorwerk (corded) back in 2010 and it’s still going strong. I’ve been through 4 dyson a in that time, after a year or so fall apart, likely due to the cheap plastic parts. For what I’ve spent on dysons over the last 12 years (estimating around £1500), and what has gone into landfill, I just wish I’d spent my money wisely first time round. Agree with all of this, £700 for a not fab mainly floors only machine (the advertising where they show its above floor cleaning made me laugh when it first came out) is nuts, makes the v15 seem reasonably priced! I had a vk200 corded model in my hands recently and it was a disappointment too, flimsy, narrow air paths and tiny expensive bags.

  • @VacuumFacts

    @VacuumFacts

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, I almost reviewed the VK200, but after this one, I just lost all hope and wrote it off. Nevertheless, it's the best non-Dyson cordless out there in terms of performance, as the data showed, but the upright formfactor makes it a nightmare for above floor cleaning. Shockingly overpriced, which is a wonderful example of how regressive capitalism steals the good, working ideas of pioneers, kludges them to avoid patent protection, and produces a monstrosity that they can charge a comparable price for. It's amazing also how each of the Kobold's power modes was essentially one mode down on the Dyson's equivalent for performance. And you get longer run times for each on the Dyson. This only happens because of the advancements in the core technologies (namely their incredible motor). And to never clog or need throwaway filters (i.e. a bag), assuming no abuse, is a no-brainer. I really appreciate good design which has clear, measureable benefits. I'm still amazed the V15 in boost outperforms anything I've tested. That really shows off their amazing tiny motor's power density. Having said that, if Dyson didn't exist, the Kobold would probably be my top pick. Fortunately Dyson does exist, and I'm hoping they'll revolutionise battery technology in the next gen and lead where others are left to copy-less effectively. If only Dyson had some genuine technological competition I could admire; I wouldn't get accused of bias so much for stating observable facts.

    @@beko1987 I have thought of reviewing a Tineco; I even rejected a free review product at one point. But based on my testing experiences now, I was put off just looking at the specifications; it's clear it's not particularly different to any of the other Dyson clones. The motor isn't as advanced, it's heavier and more power guzzling, so they'll have a smaller battery to keep weight down and therefore shorter run times-which feeds back to lower power in each mode and reduced cleaning performance. Compromise after compromise. It's cheaper, but a regressive capitalism copycat clone by definition, rather than genuinely better tech they really researched and developed to be best in class and push boundaries forward. Even the V10 is cheaper and likely much better performing given none of the others measure to give mains-equivalence. The hard floor washer is brilliant though, easily my most used appliance and it's lasted 2 years so far, which did amaze me a bit as they do feel cheap. Having seen a slew of v10 and v11 issues over the last 6 months I think all modern vacs/stuff is as bad as each other, Dyson need to keep their patents closed source for sure, it's what keeps them on top as no other company puts the ££ into the R&D, and it does show. I just wish Dyson didn't make them as cheaply as possible, but equally that's capitalism, and it works for them! I'm just not a fan of stick vacs in general I've found, which is a shame as 99% of everything is a stick. What isn't is usually flawed in some way, especially if it's got a vax logo on it

And for the commercial environment, you could get a Numatic for that sort of price, which would meet their needs too. The Dyson's and Vorwerk's high price and gimmicks are suited to customers with a lot of disposable income I would think, where they are got as more of a fashion statement and to show off, rather than purchased purely for their technology at offer (however pointless... ahem "laser detect").

A few years ago you wouldnt even think on spending 700€ for a vacuum cleaner, regardless if its mains powered or not. This whole Marketing settings reminds me on the phone market: Apple made expensive Cellphones, Samsung followed with the price, chinese brands entered market with lower prices and as they gained marekt share, rasied prices to. Its the same game here IMHO!!! You will not find a high end cordless vacuum cleaner für under 300€! Miele Triflex, Samsung Bespoke Jet, Tineco S12 etc. all are in the same Price region like the Dyson. An yes DYSON has the BEST cyclonic Filtration. It keeps the Pre- and Post Motor Filter almost clean! As far as I know, now other brand can do this with the effeciency Dyson does! Nevertheless, the Prices are to high for all of those vacuums! Regarding the Vorwerk: I think the main concept ist to use the wet floor cleaning attachment, which in this type no other company offers! Also here, Price is to high IMHO.

    What happens is some pioneer has a vision, invests heavily in expensive R&D to make it a reality. Then, when it becomes popular because it works and is better, the worst of capitalism raises its ugly head. They try to siphon off some of the profit by skirting patent protections and copying to avoid all the hard R&D work, producing a copycat kludge that doesn’t work well, and screw the customer over for their own profiteering gain. Those knockoffs are almost as expensive, but just that bit cheaper to try and steal the sale. And when it doesn’t work as well, the original idea that was developed so well ends up sullied. I made a video about the shady practice here kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5OltZSiZqu3grw.html . The mop head you claim Vorwerk champions was actually concept-invented by Dyson ~2014, the better part of a decade ago kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6euxdZvfc3Rprg.html . The Dyson Hard (DC56) used wet pads which vacuumed and mopped the floor at the same time. The rest copied. Dyson later seemingly discontinued the idea, either because it wasn’t popular or didn’t work as well as other methods in the end (like simply mopping properly with a mop and bucket).

    Dyson has no mop attachement for tiles, and Kobold does. So i bought the Kobold, as their mop attachment works really well on my tiles. The vaccuum itself is meh and way overpriced, but the mop attachment is unlike any other product that I'm aware of.

    @JonnyMD94 It's a rotating triangular-headed wet mop machine with cleaning solution that is released from a reservoir when you press down. No vacuum; it's not the Dyson hard V2. They're also working on an AC-like portable cooling device to add to their fan range, and the triodetic, which combines toothbrush and water pick in one. And a bunch of robotics. The next vacuum head has a suction relief valve built in to avoid clamping. There are vacuum attachment tools being developed that separate large particles before the bin (e.g., for catching bugs), and their air-purifier headphones (with India in mind). And of course, they have a very expensive battery gigafactory built in Asia manufacturing their own solid state cells to wrap into clever weight-distributed batteries. Next year some of this might start appearing. kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6CoqNuJh9ydoKQ.html

    @Vacuum Facts like the sound of that and with that designed triangular head will get into corners with ease! I did wonder if they ever would do an updated Dyson Hard in the future but obviously not! Good idea with the portable A/C like cooling device no doubt with a filter. I thought the trade name triodetic was related to the tooth brush and water pick device they have been working on. Few patents registered for that. I see some other trademarks have been registered like Gen5Detect, Optic and Fluffy Optic which are related to floor cleaning apparatus.I saw in the news about robotics they are working on! Not heard of that, great idea and it will sure be welcomed especially on thicker, longer and denser pile carpets. Which seem to be popular at present! Interesting attachment tools they are working on for separating large particles before the main bin! I see they have launched this year the new Awkward gap tool and the Scratch-free dusting brush that self cleans! The air purifier head phones look cool known as the Zone I believe. I think the release date for this is later this year! Maybe India first with the product in mind for that market then others to follow! Yes the solid state batteries they are now manufacturing so hopefully they will appear in some new products next year along with some of this other new technology they are busy working on! One I’m interested in is seeing these new solid state battery technology Dyson has invented and manufacturing! Thank you for the information and link. I do look out for and read some of the patents Dyson log that you can view online!

The only reason I've not updated my V10 is because I've got a really good robot vacuum that does all the heavy lifting and I can't justify upgrading to the V15. What an embarrassing product. I snorted when you showed the flap switch. They're definitely selling to corporate offices, hoping they'll buy this instead of a Riccar Supralight as a cordless upright because that's the form factor their janitors are used to and office managers don't care about price. Something that really confuses me is the continued use of brushed DC motors with bypass cooling on clones. Dyson doesn't have a monopoly on brushless outrunners and they're incredibly cheap to build and drive. Off-the-shelf FOC ICs even come with active braking! (Dyson's "boing"). It's 2022 and there is literally no reason to be using brushed motors anymore. They have more parts, wear faster, waste power and blow out carcinogenic dust under normal operation. Brushless motors are simple, inexpensive, and have no wear parts at all if correctly specced. Even the fan design (multistage radial fans aren't a Dyson patent or anything) hasn't evolved a bit. Every other manufacturer is still just slapping a disc fan on a shaft because they know low price and novelty wins sales. Vacuums are the latest household appliance to slip into disposability rather than serviceability, and it's just sad.

  • @VacuumFacts

    @VacuumFacts

    2 жыл бұрын

    What separates Dyson’s motors is their industry-leading power density, and to achieve the values they do requires sophisticated electromagnetic engineering amongst other material, geometric, and fluid dynamic optimisations of their impellor and shaft, that are fully patented so competitors can't steal the technology and design required. Competitor brushless motors are very far behind in power density and why they thus have relatively huge heavy motors that are less efficient (waste more energy), and thus why they are always seen to skimp on battery size, run time, and performance, to keep product weight down, as revealed in every cordless review I’ve done (such as this one).

    You'd have to be pretty stupid to think evidenced facts constituting the FULL truth is an advert. It's very interesting that after seeing a review entirely dedicated to the Vorwek product, which presents all the facts, the whole truth, and not just a cherry-picked misleading subset half-truth, you come away with the conclusion that the product it's compared against, that is considered market leading, is actually better. I mean that says it all and shows the accuracy of the conclusions you *can* draw when you get the *full* information that marketing withhold.

    @@proggerize This is a common barrel-scrape form of hollow discreditation that shows a staggering lack of ability to think carefully. Dyson is mentioned often because, as far as can be measured, they provide the upper-limit benchmarks of what is possible that it is only fair to compare against with products in the same competitive marketplace. The data used to draw conclusions is provided. It’s not difficult to verify facts if someone really gives a shit-for example, if you want to remain credible after suggesting someone is biased. I do it in my own home fairly accurately, although I am quick to point out that only the industry standard testing remains the tried-and-tested method of objective verification. My most recent video purposefully does not mention Dyson, when it was absolutely relevant and legitimate to, serving to nullify almost childlike suggestions there’s bias. If someone concludes bias from a collection of facts which paints the full picture and reveals weaknesses in other products, then it is bias-by them, to fail to look at data and get past cosmetics. For example, is there a single thing in the video you think didn't made sense, or wasn't supported by clear evidence shown, or do you fully accept the statements made? If the former, then one wonders why it wasn't mentioned; if the latter, then that contradicts the suggestion of bias.

I wonder how long it will be before some idiot waddles over here and oinks something to the effect of “oh you’re clearly biased towards Dyson”.
