We must separate from our enslavers in order to strengthen our connection to our ancestors.

Yes. Finally africans explaining how voodoo was the birth of our original ideas of religion and spiritually. If we used voodoo as a beneficial spiritual system in the Americas, are communities in my opinion would be far more productive.

I never felt like Christianity, or Islam was for me. Mainly because I COULD NEVER give my Soul to a religion that had its hand in my peoples demise.

Before the Coptic Church, which was introduced from Egypt into Ethiopia, the people practiced animism. Even in Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan today, they still have remnants of animistic traditions that predate christianity and islam. It's called Zar, but in Egypt, now it is being greatly suppressed with the rise of fundamentalism.

Can we stop using the word “animism” that’s the word that Europeans use to describe traditions like those of our ancestors

My family is from Lousiana⚜. Even tho my immediate family didnt practice voodoo, no one ever taught me that it was bad. Ive never been religious but ive figured myself spiritual. I recently found my connection with Orisha Oya. I still have more learning to do but the feeling i have is unlike any other
