Used this video and found success, but there are some missing steps. The plastic piece you need to fish the wire through (inside of the car after removing some of the ceiling) was in the way and I needed to remove mine. He doesn't say it, but the process is a bit easier if you tape a fishing wire to the old line before removing it. All in all the only video out there on the process and it's fairly accurate

This process is to fix the tailgate and allow it to open and close, correct? Mine doesn’t open automatically anymore. I have to lift it to open, and push down to close.

Did you unplugged the battery before you stared the replacement of the tailgates ?
