love this wagon. I'm from the US but have always liked Volvo's iteration of a luxury offroading car. It's really graceful looking and it just seems like a very cultured car for someone to drive. It's not shouty or garish as some of the other manufacturers too. (cough cough BMW and Lexus cough cough) It's practical, well mannered on the road, fitted with wonderful materials, and the tech is good too. It's my realistic dream car. I drive an Outback so I already appreciate what wagons have to offer. This is just a better Outback, which is already a nice car

Brilliant video with an awesome car. I love the Volvo V90 shape, the ultimate safe cruising/roadtrip car. You definitely packed it like it should be for any holiday roadtrip! We grew up in the back of numerous Saab 900s in the late 80s/90s and loved it (triplets, we always had our day to sit in the front!), absolutely great memories looking back and like you say, they become part of the holiday and more so, part of the family! I went onto buy a 900 Turbo a few years back just because of my childhood and 'dad's car' as Top Gear proved 👌 This Volvo is a whole different world now, but would have one in a heartbeat. Looks like you had a great holiday in our beautiful part of the world, you even got some 🌞🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤓 We were always the same coming back home crossing the border, counting down and cheering 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤣 Great family holidays. Brilliant channel and very interesting with your Fleet, throughly enjoyable 👍👌🤓

I do like these, and one day, who knows? Maybe a like XC90 would have been a better choice for the trip, but I know Matt does not prefer SUV's. I am delighted with my phase 2 version. Disappointing economy with this V90 though, as said. My former, dependable V70 D5, now in my step-daughter's hands, would have returned 60 mpg - as I demonstrated with a West Somerset - Lancashire - West Somerset trip three years ago now.

Hopefully my next used car purchase. I have had my 2008 S60 since 2013 and it is without doubt the best car I have ever had and the only car I have kept for more than my usual 3 years. Apart from the dreaded DPF I haven't really had too many problems with it and spent three months last year travelling from N. Ireland to Aberdeen and then down to Somerset with many side trips in between while averaging 45 mpg on the motorways. Suspension is a little hard on the 17 inch alloys but other than that it is a long distance effortless cruiser. Any problems with the DPF on your trip? Did it ever flash up a warning about being full? That is the only thing that worries me about buying a modern diesel, the emissions equipment.

Current Volvo’s are desirable and the interior design is especially attractive but would I personally buy one? Highly unlikely. I know you hold distain for SUV’s Matt but I challenge you to test drive my Lexus RX450h by comparison. The Volvo you had is in a similar price range but I couldn’t live with that awful Diesel drone, it sounds like a commercial van IMHO. The Lexus would have swallowed your luggage with room to spare, provided equal fuel economy in near silent ambience with all the comfort, refinement, luxury and equipment you could ever wish for. It’s the perfect package for me. Not all SUV’s are the same.

A real shame that Volvo don't offer the range of modular engines they used to, but as everything is going that way, this is a very fine car otherwise. I've had a 2019 V90 CC T5 for 15 months and the fuel consumption is horrendous; utterly appalling. Normal driving for me is 50/50 rural A & B roads/motorway, and 23 mpg is the norm. On a long motorway run I might see 31 mpg. Another annoyance is that the rear passenger door aperture isn't great. Significantly more difficult lifting a baby seat in and out compared to the 2013 520d Touring it replaced. There's less room between the door card and wheel arch. I'd concur with furiousdriving that Pilot Assist wants to sit too far to the left which can leave you correcting it too often which becomes a pain. Other than that it's a brilliant car and it was a bargain compared to other big estates. It was also 60% of the cost of an XC90 of same year, mileage and spec. No-one seems to want big estates anymore which means you get a lot of car for the money. Stick a set of all-season tyres on it and combined with the AWD system it will get you home safely regardless of weather conditions.

I have a 2017 V90 D5 and I don't see anywhere near the official MPG figure, I'm much closer to an average of 35. Not horrendous considering the size of the car and being AWD but considerably worse than the old VW Golf that it replaced. Don't know how he used so little fuel going to Scotland as I must get around 450 miles to a tank. I don't like Pilot Assist either.

While a V90CC is still an estate car, its predecessor XC70 is shorter but has more luggage space, especially with the seats folded down. Volvo has gone down the route of lifestyle wagons, to my great disappointment. Also the V90 diesel engine is best avoided, because of oil consumption issues.

Yeah, the sharp rake of the tailgate kills the available space, particularly for two German Shepherds. I think Volvo could have squared it off more. I also wish they'd followed BMW and have the rear window open independently of the tailgate.

An excellent car and good value for money by today's standards. Typical Volvo, leave the song 'n dance routine to others and get on with being an understated quality car that can cope with just about anything. What a tragedy it will be if cars like this disappear under a tsunami of SUVs.

And they're deprecating like rock falling off a cliff. While out of production for 5 years now, the V70/XC70 are in such great demand that their value is actually rising, especially those with five cilinder engine. I am expecting Volvo to shift to Chinese electric SUVs in 5-10 years, which you cannot buy, only subscribe to.
