    Great car. My dad is buying a V60 CC d4 awd. Pebble grey with blond city weave interior. Testdrove it today and it offers soo good comfort. Not too expensive in sweden, especially considering it has some good prices on the packages. 45k euro with climatepack, towhitch , electice tailgate, intellisafe assist with all the safetech , DAB radio and wintertyres etc. And now this car is a 6month old demo with only 7000km and the price is 36k. Good deal right

    I just got a 2020 V60 CC, and I LOVE IT!! Nice Video, and very pretty in red. I believe that video is a 2019 since it has the electric back seat button which they don’t have in the 2020. I totally LOVE LOVE LOVE my Volvo CC. I just traded my Audi A5 Convertible which I loved, and I can say this is the closest in SUV type car, that drove like a sport sedan and not a bulky SUV. If you want the best of both worlds this is your answer. I never thought of myself as a wagon person at all, but this baby is not your grandma’s wagon. And the interior, I cannot tell you how luxurious and comfortable it is!! I also love the heads up display and the advance package which includes the adaptive cruise control and pilot assist. It’s funny because my sister was just looking at the interior rear space, and she said “yeah but I think my Land Rover (Discovery) is bigger in the back I said you think let’s measure. And when we went from my car to hers, we couldn’t believe how much bigger mine was. We didn’t have a measuring tape, but we used the box that we had. After I sat and drove this baby, no other car/SUV could measure, and I had to have her!! You wont regret it if you want the feel of a sports sedan, with the luxury of a luxurious car, and the utility and space of an SUV, then this is your BABY!

    Most car brands' computer screens take a while. They need to find a way to put the computer to sleep, so that they come up almost immediately -- instead of turning them off and having to boot them up from cold off... that is the problem -- bad design in turning them off totally. People don't turn off their smartphones usually; they put them to sleep, so that they come up immediately when needed.

    Thomas, excellent video review, as usual! You give us very precise analysis and respected personal impression of these vehicles. This is the most beautiful, maybe even sexy, estate available IMO. This is the closest Volvo has come to a production version of their amazing 2014 Estate Concept (Shooting Brake). I prefer the extra room my V90’s provide for my family and dog, but if I did not need this space, I would opt for this V60 without a second thought. Versus the competition, the Volvo is the safest, most survivable in a collision (KZread IIHS Small Front Overlap); this is a priority for me since having a family. In the US, option for option, Volvo’s are more affordable, and always with sizable dealer and corporate discounts. To be honest, I love Audi and Mercedes cars (have had numerous - wife wants a Q8 bad), but there’s something special, unique, about Volvo in my country; kind of like Audi was back in the 1990’s.

    I am happy with my 2012 pre Geely xc70 CC. Just hit 100,000 miles today and barely any issues besides routine replacements, a compressor and new battery replacement. But that is a smooth I6 engine and these new ones have electronic gadgetry, Chinese OEM parts and charged 4 cyl engines . Will be higher costs to maintain for sure. Better to lease future Volvos like their German competition.

    I wish you were completely right. As others have said, MANY (most?) manufacturers use components sourced from many places, including China. You are talking about something that no longer exists. Also, being made in China is not an automatic assumption of poor quality; that's prejudicial thinking. Like everything manufactured by humans, quality control makes all the difference. I have a Panasonic Chinese-made camera that could hardly be more precise. I had a German car that was a quality mess. Volvo, as an auto brand, tends to be closer to the bottom in recent quality rankings. Asian brands, with some Chinese components, tend to be closer to the top. So, I'm still not understanding your point?

    Great (misty) filming! Cool interior. Shame about low headroom & rear room - hence why some buy a SUV perhaps? Also like '4 o'clock in the morning'. Like the focus on comfort. Looking at the configurator, without specifying lots and lots of pricey extras, equipment is sparse. I like the City Weave (no extra cost in UK on CC - shock). BLIS is an extra on all V60's - why? Excellent Driving Part, commentary, and very good driving. Thomas, this video is nearly as good as your Feb 3, 2016 "Tiguan in the snow video"! Many thanks Thomas and Michel.

    Something like this makes so much more sense for the vast majority of SUV / crossover buyers. Unless you need a Wrangler, Land Rover or Jimny type proper off-roader, this would be perfect. I’d like to know what the reason is for not including PHEV options for the cross country though. Very disappointing.

    Great review of a nice car. Having traveled to Germany a lot in the last few years for business, I appreciate your calm and thorough style. I understand this CC model will come to USA but with a starting price just over 40k US. I know pricing is higher in Europe in general but I'm guessing maybe they will reduce some of the bells and whistles in the base model here. This is fine for me, making the price more reasonable. Our US market doesn't have many options with all wheel drive in this design style outside of VW Golf Alltrack, Subaru Outback and Buick Tour X (same as Opel Insignia estate awd). The Passat Alltrack is not sold here. The luxury aspect is not important to me but the size of the V60 and its driving dynamics may be just right compared to the available mix. Am I willing to pay up for it is the question.

    Althought this is the Volvo I would go for accross the range, simply can't overlook the fact that they didn't want to invest more time and money on door panels design. Not that there is something wrong with the panel design itself, but comparing to C -Class, new 3 series and A4, it's nothing special, given the car price. It's morelike something Škoda/VW would make.

    Hi Thomas. I've been watching your reviews for a long time and I really love them! Today, I have another point of view about the real leather animal skin issue. I fully understand the need to reduce the use of real leather. But the use of fabric or artificial leather leaves us another problem related to the overuse of plastics. I know this is a tough decision to make. Either kill the animals, or reduce the use of plastics to save the environment? I honestly do not know which one is better. Hope to see a comparison review about that sometime in the near future. Thank you.

  • @autogefuehl

    @autogefuehl

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for considering! Have you already read through our extensive resources on this topic? I am also addressing the plastic issue / future in those. We have researched this issue for many years now so please take your time to go through our extensive resources stated below as they answer every single question we have yet received concerning this matter. At Autogefühl, we have already received several thousands (!) comments, messages and mails that more and more people want to combine enjoying their car with reducing the environmental impact at the same time. We believe that sustainable luxury is possible or at least we should do everything to support that. Those many thousand people confirming this trend, motivate us to give you the most authentic information and background on the product parts. It is not about what you bought in the past, and it is not about blaming anyone, it is about what you decide in the future and what you can decide and influence as a customer. So we want you to have all information that you need for a decision you later enjoy and like best yourself. In Summer 2017, Tesla motors has decided to be the first manufacturer to go all the way with sustainable seat materials, only offering fabric/cloth seats or leatherette seats in different colours. They have banned all real leather from the seating surface and at the steering wheel in the white trim or on demand. So Tesla shows where the industry will and must be heading, just like they went forward with electrification first. Check out our special video addressing car CEOs as a first summary and also see conditions of animal skin production: kzread.info/dash/bejne/foKHt9yTiN3WlMY.html List of practical reasons against animal skin seats: 1. animal skin seats are often sold as an expensive option, by going for base trim level seats you can save a lot of money and get a better price-performance-deal (often the manufacturers claim that animal leather is top of luxury because they can earn the best money with it) 2. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat, probably you need seat cooling 3. they get very cold in winter and you need seat heating 4. on cloth or microfibre surfaces, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling 5. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like an old sofa 6. if you want leather look or need seats that can be wiped clean easier, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2arsKl_e8SafZM.html) So Tesla shows a good example for that and as described, non-leather materials are now standard for ALL Tesla 7. More manufacturer names for their good alternatives: Mercedes MBTex/Artico for leatherette, Dinamica for microfibre. BMW Sensatec, Toyota Sof-Tex, Lexus Nu-Luxe (all faux leather) To the environmental reasons: 1. The way the cows and other intelligent and social animals are raised and held are not according to the basic values that we all share (also see videos below) 2. The factory farming industry can be accounted for at least 40 % of climate emissions and thus is (according to numerous sources you can look up) the number one reason for climate change and environmental destruction. It is the number one reason for deforestation, two thirds of all agricultural land on earth is used for growing animal food crops. If you would feed humans directly by using the agricultural land, you could produce much more food for everyone. See this interesting essay for more on climate emissions background: www.worldwatch.org/files/pdf/Livestock%20and%20Climate%20Change.pdf 3. It is not only cows who are suffering, but also the environment and to a big part also humans. Think of slavery-like working conditions in slaughterhouses (there are plenty of documentaries about this) or think of chemically altered drinking water in animal skin production villages as also seen in the video footage. 4. The discussion, for which body part the cow is killed first, is very patronizing. But if you really think it would be important why someone gets killed in first place: There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even while still being (part-)alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body. 5. So even if a cow gets theoretically killed for meat first, in every case you give additional money to an industry that relies on killing, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". A the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover up that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy. 6. To the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/ To “But leatherette is not sustainable due to petrochemical production” 1. Indeed some fabrics and micro fibres are oil based, however most oil is spent on energy production, heating and fuel. The share of oil used for artificial cloth etc. is very very small. 2. If you look at the whole production process, the leatherette is way more sustainable than the leather produce. Even if you leave the ethical aspect aside, here is the official calculation of the CO2-Output animal skin vs leatherette (different kinds of leatherette): Leather 17 kg CO2/m² PVC leatherette 10 kg CO2/m² Acella Eco natural leatherette 8,5 kg CO2/m² Benova (PUR leatherette): 8 kg CO2/m² So by using the latest high-tech leatherette, you even the CO2-emissions are cut in half! 3. The best to-come solution are indeed plant-based materials like Pinatex (based on pineapple leaves) or new materials based on mycelia (roots of mushrooms) or other innovative natural products. That’s the future. More special video episodes: 1. A initial special video from Autogefühl considering the use of leather can be found here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/apptk62gkrnIerQ.html 2. And another one right here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/poGCycWFdZOydLg.html 3. Furthermore, you’ll find the footage of leather production also here, where people are walking in chemicals etc. and animals have to watch their friends being slaughtered in front of their eyes: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJ2ku9iudNavZtY.html timecode starting 27:46 4. This is another video which very well summarizes the torture of leather production, shots taken at big farms which directly produce for the automotive industry: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gZt81ZRsacWnnqg.html 5. Please note that those videos are made by well-known journalists and cameramen who were not influenced by any animal welfare organisation, they supply their footage to the animal rights groups of course. I partly know the creators of the video footage personally and they are all authentic. You don’t have to search long to find cruel production environments anyway. Manufacturers reactions: We started the very first inquiry years ago, with the result that car manufacturers do not reveal their sources of animal skin AT ALL. If it all would be clean and happening without harm, why don’t they show it to us whereas they are showing us every other detail of their products? They have good reason not to, because there is no such thing as a clean animal skin production without harming cows, humans and the environment. The only thing a manufacturer can do is increase their effort for a better future, and we are helping with in-depth talks and interviews by presenting the increasing customer demand for sustainable luxury. Tesla was the first one to react in a major way now. So meanwhile, we more often also get feedback that a lot of manufacturers are working on leather-free interiors and are aware of the situation. E.g. Bentley, Mini and Kia have started vegan car interior programmes. Besides Tesla, Mercedes already shows major choices for sustainable interiors, you always have to pay attention to the details when ordering, of course - and we are happy to give advice. However, much has to be done still and the Autogefuehl community is massively helping in boosting the positive change! Help to raise awareness on this subject. Thanks!

    Beyond only environmental matters, I prefer fabric for comfort; cooler in sun, not so cold in winter. I would usually opt for fabric, but most brands do not give the option in higher trim levels. Leather is a "luxury". Since leather is usually a higher cost feature, it would be nice if Volvo gave a discount for selecting fabric. However, Volvo seems to be very focused on option-based profit. To be fair, most European brands are as well.

Only available in R-design trim *facepalm*. Oh, and by the way, when I'm out playing in the snow with my XC60 2019 with traction control i sport-mode, seat belts never tightens up... Maybe the car realizes that I'm still in control... 🤣

On some Renault mode;ls there is no temperature gauge but a blue water temperature light that comes on when the engine is cold and goes out when it reaches operating temperature. That's better than no gauge, but still won't be good enough to warn you if the thermostat is sticking or playing up. @@Jeppelelle Sean Leon ST is an estate version with 4WD. There is also a Seat Leon X-perience which is equivalent to Cross Country. That car is even cheaper than ST Cupra. Those cars are made by Volkswagen Group and share many parts like engine and DSG transmission from the Golf series. You can also have an Audi A4 Allroad disel with 190Hp (again equivalent to Cross Country and similar engine) for 40000€. What don´t make any sense is the price of this car. A4 3.0 TDI 272 hp quattro is the highest lvl of Allroad and that cost 52000€. Still less than the Volvo but with much better engine and superior transmission.

    @@arteljus983 In your original comment you specifically said the ST version, which is not the same type of car nor same class. Leon X-perience is also not the same type of car nor class, it has an underpowered engine, poor trim options etc etc (weird thing to bring that car into the discussion when you failed in your original comment, to save your ass). A standard V60CC D4 costs slightly less than the A4 Allroad diesel 190hp, so in this comparison the V60 isn't really that expensive. Also, your claim that the A4 3.0 TDI 272 hp is cheaper than the V60 CC is pretty stupid since you are comparing a standard A4 with NO options to a V60 CC that has alot of options specced on it, ofcourse the V60 will be more expensive if you make so weird comparisons, you are comparing apple and oranges. If you want a fair price comparison then you obviously have to choose equal trim, engine, options etc. All your price comparisons are so weird, you compare shitty Seat:s with underpowered engines (in the X-perience case), shitty specs and options etc etc, with an optioned V60 CC and then "Look, the Seat is cheaper", well, no shit, ofcourse it is....who would have thought that a car produced to be as cheap as possible with not luxury options or features is cheaper than a car that is, what a chocker. I agree with you though that Audi has better transmissions than Volvo but thats not that hard to achieve since Volvo uses dogtrash slushboxes.

    Interesting! Yes, some reviewers (never Thomas!) state: "the base price of this car is..." But this is pretty useless. I think, the only way to compare cars of a similar segment, is to spend time on the online configurators, configure a similar engine, then spec each car up to the max - with everything. Then compare. This way you get a better idea of a price comparison. And you also find out which bit of kit each has. Kind regards.
