@ 2:03 I'd say it doesn't add a new dimension to truck driving, it rather removes one - you no longer have to think about close-ratio gear changes and torque gaps.

What could be a problem when the Volvo 370 don't select all the gears expecial 2,4,6,11

Just hoping that Volvo don't "improve" the I shift so much that they stuff it up for those who enjoy driving and still having some input. Can't say I like the convex main mirror, it would make it very difficult to reverse into tight areas. A flat main mirror with convex spotter is the way to go.

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, we are not planning to implement the I-Shift Dual Clutch into Volvo buses and coaches within the foreseeable future.

The I-Shift Dual Clutch transmission is currently only approved for the Volvo FH in long haul applications.

Volvo only offer iShift DCT for truck under 540hp (highest output for volvo 13 litre engine)

is the dual clutch system heavier than the normal i-shift?

Yes, it is 100 kilogram heavier (220 pounds).

i guess in consideration of the time you actually will save using the dual clutch i-shift like on driving up hills and stuff it is actually worth it using it even though it is heavier

Can it jump gears, say go from 10th to 12th or 7th to 10th? How does the manual mode work?

I-Shift Dual Clutch changes gear without any disruption to power delivery. When driving in conditions where it is more optimal for the transmission to skip a few gears, the transmission changes gear just like a regular I-Shift unit. I-Shift Dual Clutch can change gears without any interruption in power delivery, with the exception of the range-change, which takes place when shifting from 6th to 7th gear. We'll come back to you regarding manual mode.

Regarding manual mode, it works exactly the same way as for I-Shift. The driver can choose to shift manually when he/she wants. Powershifts will be carried out also during manual driving if the conditions are correct.

Jeffrey Austin it would be like 2 sequential gearboxes. One with odd gears and one with even. It can’t skip gears just like a motorcycle. My car has a dual clutch transmission and I love it.

Formula 1 has never used dual clutches gearboxes, it's forbidden.

Luis Felipe Carreira correct. They use sequential gearbox. The clutch is operated with the hand but is only needed for starting off and stopping.

Actually, you may have a point. Awkwardly Apple bought out the first-generation iPod in 2001, the same year that the first I-Shift transmissions were available for heavy trucks! xD
