Hi there - got a bit of an issue that I’m wondering if maybe you’ve come across. I’ve got a rattling noise coming from somewhere near the decoupling pulley but it seems to be loudest when I put the stethoscope right on the front end of the timing chain cover near the coupler. I don’t think it’s the coupler itself as I replaced it a couple of years back. I’ve listened to the alternator with stethoscope and it seems smooth so it’s not that. I’ve also ruled out the ac pulley and the sound seem to be too far forward to be the tensioner for the aux belt…any ideas? Is there something inside other than the chain that could wear prematurely and cause rattling that you know of?

Very informative video. Thanks for the great work!!! I was wondering if you could offer some advice on a issue I'm having with my 07' s80 3.2? While driving my idler pulley seized causing the car to go into reduced engine performance mode and shutting off. I got the car towed home and replaced the idler pulley, tensioner pulley and serpentine belt. Upon starting the car the reduced engine performance is still illuminated along with the check engine light. I scanned for coded and get P1589 along with P2106. There car was driving great before the idler pulley seized so I'm confused as to why these codes would be thrown. Needles to say the car is hard to start and is sputtering when it does start with no throttle response. Can you point me in the direction of what I should check? I replaced the throttle body thinking that was the issues but same problem exits? Do these throttle body's need programming or is there a adaptation procedure that needs to be followed? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@The Volvo Guy I have inner timing cover leak and following your procedure but need to clear my doubts. Appreciate if you can correct me with procedure in re-sealing inner cover while the engine is mounted on the car. 1. Drain oil and coolant, remove air box assembly and pipes, vacuum pump, compressor and mounting, p/s assembly. Do I need to remove coolant pipe below crank pulley? This will then give me access to outer timing cover. 2. Remove drive pulley and outer timing cover which will then expose the timing chain and proceed with cam shaft and inner cover removal. Before removing cam shaft with special tool, do I need to install the crank and cam locking tool on passenger side or this can be done during timing? Is crank locking tool required if the tyre is secured on the ground? Do I need to remove the intake manifold and the valve cover when installing the cam locking tool? Procedure please so my doubt will be cleared. I know it's not an easy job but need no room for mistake. Can you please list down all the special tools required and the PN of all the seals required to be changed? Can't find it in the first part of the video. Hi Volvo Guy - big fan of your channel - super great videos! thank you so much! I will need some help though. I have oil leak at the back of the engine on the driver's side and it seems to come from somewhere up on the inner timing cover gasket. Initially I thought it was the outer cover gasket and I replaced it but still have the same leak. Could it be possible to be a leak from the inner cover gasket in its upper section somewhere, or may be from the seal at the intermediate shaft on the generator side? I would really appreciate if you give me some knowledge input. Thanks!
