This 140hp engine is unusual because it is identical to the 170hp version, only de-tuned in software. You can't usually extract more than 5-10hp from a naturally aspirated engine. It's possible on this engine though since it has 30 additional hp waiting to be unlocked. Most tuners promise around 180hp for both the 140 and 170hp versions.

The reason he is short shifting in the stock tune is that the car is restricted above 4500rpm stock tune so it is quicker to change early. I just had this done to mine although mine is 5 speed auto.

Scott No it’s not, 2.4 spec online shows 6100 rpm, this is why the dash doesn’t show redline until 6000 rpm. There is no such thing as short shifting to go faster, that makes no since, you shift within the specs the factory has set that’s why they have a rev limiter. A tune works within those specs just as well unless you do something mechanical change cams or have something done to the head.

@@digital0785 Highly doubt shifting too early vs shifting too late benefits you in a situation where acceleration for the best results come into play. I drive a 5 speed manual, and I definitely know it makes a difference. My car isn't fast so, even I have been trying to improve my driving skills aka "driver mod", I must have practiced 50 times and just now getting the idea of what to do out perform someone who may even have a faster car. and short shifting has not been one of them.

@@jefferyboat7428 you must not have driven any small turbo cars. They most definitely can be faster by shifting earlier. I've had both auto and manual cars that range from 90 crank to 500 whp. And build parts for a bunch of cars that have small turbos. It's very common for them to shift at 5500-6k vs running to 6500 because after 5700 power drops HARD. So doubt all you want but that doesn't change reality my friend. You want to stay at or around peak torque and don't want to be shifting to a point it's falling. On some cars shifting at 6500 will put you at 4800 and power falls off at 5500 having 800 rpms of "good" revs when peak torque is at 3k isn't doing you any favors as you'll have just as much time of good in powerband acceleration as time out of powerband acceleration It's not all cars but some cars do have this issue and esp small turbo cars have this issue

@@digital0785 Thats not reality, this is just your personal opinion again incorrect. If what you said were true then, short shifting would be a very popular technique to use in race....how many times do you here someone say, "Yeah I had to short shift it to go faster in that race".....very rare if zero correct. The term "short shift" itself says alot...meaning "not complete or halfway or early shift". Short shifting is known for good gas mileage maybe that makes sense. Even with stuatuon of 500 hp car were you could lose traction, better to be in the right gear or rpm with some good tires then to bog the motor, because that's all that does. I have driven all the above brotha, this is how I know. I've raced probably a thousand times, watched a 1000 different street races in person from 2000hp and on down and seenthe out come of all those races multiple times, results are usually always the same. The only time I"ve even seen or really hear about short shifting is when someone has a car with lots of hp vs someone who claims they do and the guy driving the faster car says he short shifted the entire race because it wasn't competitive, another situation is if they may have mechanical issues or a tune may be off, most of the time its "inexperienced" guys making these claims because they don't know what their talking about but read something or over heard this misconception from another novice person talking about cars. I've seen slower cars beat faster cars for that exact reason. (Oddly enough given the tips I'm giving you, hops back in his car and does way better the next race, true story) But in the car community this is not major plus when it comes accelerating alot of guys think babying the motor when your racing some how helps it, like no, lol as soon as you accelerate "which it was designed to do", shifting around redline is totally fine, its actually the proper method. Its when you do it outside the parameters it was designed for you lose power or acceleration or cause damage to the engine.

With the 140hp the has the same power curve of a 170hp version but at 140 it just cuts off power and drops down so revving it out would in fact be slower with the stock 140hp tune as it essentially drops and is super sluggish.

@ElmiroBHF actually, BSR chip only upgrades your car to match the 170hp version. in 140hp version the throttle valve doesnt open fully as it does in the 170hp version. So 188hp is rubbish.

Yes, but generally you'd do an intake and exhaust to bump it up more right? A Stage 2 tune with upgrades adds more hp unless you're saying those upgrades over stock does nothing?

I quite like the styling and body lines of the S60. Still looks like a modern car even today. Most new cars look like they were made in jello molds and the bumpers once hit,.. buckle the rearward body panels making them more expensive to repair. Throw away cars!! 😅
