Volvo S40 1.6D DRIVe SE Lux Edition (Daily Driver) POV Drive 4K

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hi everyone and welcome back to another video!
Today I'll be taking you for a POV style drive in my new (bought in October 2021) daily driver, a 2011 Volvo S40 1.6D DRIVe SE Lux Edition. I purchased this car with 87,000 miles in October and have since racked up about 7k miles in absolute comfort with no mechanical issues. I do plan to do a full review on this car as I do think it deserves a lot of praise but obviously isn't perfect.
This car is great as a daily driver as it is equipped with many relatively modern features such as cruise control, auto lights, auto wipers, sat-nav, heated seats, a full leather interior, Bluetooth for calls and audio, dual zone climate control and much more. Long journeys are a breeze and I plan to turn this car into a bit of a high mileage hero.
So far, I have loved owning this car as it simply does what it's told to do and never kicks up a fuss as long as it is regularly serviced. In my ownership, as it was bought fairly cheaply, it has received an oil and filter change (oil filter & air filter), fuel filter, new engine mounts, new gearbox torque mount, new aux belt, cam belt and water-pump kit and both drive shafts + gearbox oil change. These were done to make sure that the car in my ownership was starting from a clean slate even though this particular vehicle only had 1 previous owner and a very promising full service history.
Thanks for watching!

I have 2010 v50 drive e version with the 1.6d diesel. It has almost 200k miles and i've put around 3,7k miles on it within 2 months. I had to replace the turbo oil feed pipe, intake hoses, eolys fluid add and changed the oil. Now it runs great and i would recommend anyone to get one IF if it has service records. Mine came with over 3k+ in receipts so i knew i wouldn't have to replace the clutch, turbo or dpf for years to come. Nice video btw!

Did you need to remove the turbo to access the Oil feel pipe lower section ?

@@Mr330d I did not replace it myself, but no you don't need to remove the turbo. It was actually pretty cheap fix overall, the labor was 150€, including oil change. The turbo feed pipe was about 25€ but i ordered it online. Oh and don't forget to order 2 banjo bolts (They have mesh inside, it's really important to replace them) and be sure to get the correct ones. There are 2, and both are different sizes. It was pretty difficult to find the correct parts but if you need help let me know and i will tell you more. If someone tells you the turbo needs to be removed they are lying, this fix is rather simple.

Nice to hear! I bought one aswell, had to fix few things but now it's running smooth and reliable. I like this engine compared to my old 1.8 petrol V50. I find that you can treat this engine like petrol and it likes to be revved. How many kms does yours have?

I get around 4.8l per 100km in cold weathers. I think i could get it a little more down, but i find that you can drive this engine pretty hard and still get good economy.

A very good looking car, I was thinking of purchasing one of these next. Have you had any problems at all so far? And would you recommend it?

I would definitely recommend it. I’ve done about 10k miles in the last couple of months. So I’ve done a lot of miles. If you do buy one, just make sure it’s been serviced on time and that it has no fault codes stored in the ECU that relate to expensive fixes. Mines been bomb proof and I love how I can go anywhere without worrying and it is very very comfortable.

@@livinglifesideways7826 that's great to hear just the response I was looking for. I myself do alot of miles a year nearly 20,000 so I want something reliable and comfortable. I've got a ford focus mk2.5 and it's been very reliable from which this car is based on.

@Dan Blake exactly that’s basically the same car. The 1.6D is a great engine especially the later one in the DRIVe models like mine.

I hate these POV videos where the driver is unable to articulate what he/she thinks about the feedback that they receive from the car in terms of ride quality, comfort, acceleration, handling, braking, vibrations etc. What a waste of time.

Well it’s not like you’re being forced to watch the video. Either way, these types of videos are supposed to just focus on the driving…it’s not a review. Channels like AutotopNL are very popular and they do both types of videos…one where they focus on the driving with no commentary and also a review style video because some people prefer one or the other. Nowhere do I state that this is a review. If I stated this was a POV drive and I kept talking throughout the entire video, that would have also been a waste of time. Some people just want to listen to a quiet journey and not someone talking at the same time…so jog on if this isn’t your type of thing. Thanks
