Many Volvo ##40 reviewers complain about the infotainment system and the lack of 'more' physical buttons, you are the first one (that I saw) that explains the use of the voice control and how that replaces many functionalities of the lack of physical buttons. You mentioned safety, I personally think it is safer also to use voice control rather then going to a physical button or the infotainment, my wife will be pleased with that feature and, me being goofy, I'll probably flirt with the Google assistant while sitting in the passenger seat and we will laugh at GA's reply. Playing music off a stick is a pain, it works NOW, KIND OF !. When I got my C40 NO ONE KNEW at my dealer how to play music using USB, UNBELIEVABLE, VOLVO don't install the only player AUDIOWAGON by default, you have to find it for yourself, as I said no one at my dealer knew how, in fact they said IF YOU FIND OUT CAN YOU TELL US ! So DAY ONE I installed Audiowagon and it worked GREAT, BUT WAIT...Volvo upgraded to v2.0 and WAIT FOR IT removed the facility to play music from the USB COMPLETELY and with no explanation. Eventually they came up with WIRED Apple Carplay but why bother when you can have wireless bluetooth ?, Back to playing music off your USB, so what happens now 6 months later is every time you switch the car on it tells you the USB Stick you have inserted isn't compatible. You allow audiowagon access and it works. The stick is compatible it's just VOLVO haven't got security compatability worked out, so now you play music no problem, except when you switch off and on you have to go through the rigmarole of allowing access again, it's a pain but it works. BTW Format your stick FAT32 nothing else will work

Thanks for a clear, explanatory video - I just bought a Volvo s60 T8 Plus (plug in hybrid) - for people who don't know, in POWER mode this thing really flies (0-60 in FOUR seconds), but it drives great in EV mode, as well. A couple of questions - • Do adapters and charging stations allow me to charge this car at a Tesla Supercharger yet? If not, when are they due to be available? What model adapter would I need for this vehicle? • When charging the Volvo at a Tesla Supercharger how do I pay? Do you insert a credit card as one would when buying gas at a traditional service station, or is it all app driven?

Wonderful S60!!! Also, I personally don't believe that at the $/kwh that monetized charging stations charge it's worth it for a plug in hybrid to charge at a charge station. I could be wrong but I bet the math says that it's a break even at best once you factor in your time! In the USA you aren't able to charge at Superchargers yet I don't believe although Musk recently said that it was soon happening. In theory, an adapter like this will eventually work but is currently only sold for clients that have a Tesla home charger and want to charge their non-Tesla models: a.co/d/7wXdrxW

The system will shut down on its own within minutes of the drivers door being closed. But, under the SETTINGS/CONTROLS there is a POWER OFF button in the full EV vehicles that manually powers those vehicles down.

Hey. When in google maps and have a route set, does that also show up in the digital cockpit as well? And can you change how far zoomed in it is etc?

The route WILL also display on the drivers info screen. It will always be in perspective mode (not north as up) and will only automatically zoom in and out.

How did you get the trip info on the bottom bar on the home screen? In the video is said 180mi. Is that just for the electric? I have a 2023 B6 XC90 ultimate

That's in the "range optimizer" menu that's specific to the EV The non-EVs have a distance til empty in the driver's display where the EVs only show a percentage there

Hi Mike, as per the comment from Seventy Eight, the problems with streaming music from the Google Pixel on Volvo's Google Infotainment System (Google Automotive Services - GAS) have continued as described, working on occasion but ~98% time it doesn't. Streaming music by starting a music app on the phone plays over BT in the car works OK and it's possible to step forward or backwards using the steering wheel controls. Exiting the car stops the music but it doesn't resume when reconnecting, so the process must be repeated. No other features are available. I can't comment on other manufacturer's android handsets. However >>> the Musicolet app does work and it automatically allows the Pixel reconnect to the infotainment system and resume from where it left off. A number of other control features are available from the vehicle infotainment system as well as step forward / backwards from the steering wheel etc which implies the root causes of problems affecting the media player are shared between the Pixel and GAS; presumably or hopefully updates are in the pipeline to resolve them. Musicolet is designed to stream music from the device only and doesn't have an interface to any online resources which probably explains why it works so well in this instance. The Volvo Bluetooth Media interface can also access the Musicolet Albums, Playlists, Artists etc from the vehicle's main screen which is a huge improvement on anything I have found so far. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.krosbits.musicolet&hl=en&gl=US A useful resource for information on the GAS implementations on Volvo is some of the Polestar forums. I love my XC90 T8 Ultimate MY23 but feels the infotainment could have been a bit better.. Still pretty basic in terms of features .. This is just me though..

It is not just you. I think most would agree that is the system with fewer features among premium branches. I drive a V60 T6 MY23 and a 2021 peugeot, in terms of features, options... even the mirrors when going backwards are configurable and not in the Volvo. Lets see if we see more features in the near future

If the climate fan is truly set to OFF (fan speed zero) then no air should flow in my experience.

I can't speak specifically for other dealerships as it depends on specific allocated XC40 units to any given dealer, but my dealership has a number of gas XC40 allocations that are still customizable and will be delivered in Q1 2023. I believe we have 1 Q1/Q2 ETA XC40 Recharge.

Hi, you're very welcome. The ONLY reason I install screen protectors is for their anti-glare and anti-fingerprint properties. The fact that they actually "protect" the screen is a bonus. As a sales professional, I see auction vehicles and trade-ins on a daily basis and from time to time I see screens that weren't protected that could have benefited from a screen protector based on their previous owners misuse!

Great video Mike. Very informative. One of the criticisms for new Volvos is that there is no physical button to change drive modes. It is a multi-step process on the touchscreen. So, I have a question: Can you select different driving modes using Google voice commands? Thanks

The only one I know is "turn on one pedal drive" and "turn one pedal drive off" for the full electric vehicles.

Is there a dog mode, preconditioning for charging and can you set the temp to warm up before you leave for work?

Yes, for the EVs only there's a very intuitive app based way to add preconditioning timers for leaving for work and for heading home. That can be done in the car's touchscreen as well. They don't call it "dog mode" but there is a button to hit on the climate system as you are exiting the vehicle to keep the climate system on...pretty slick!!! It does not say anything on the screen like Tesla, but the functionality is quite similar.

hi Mike, at 5:31 the AC button is illuminated. Each time I go to raise the temp in my car (It's winter in Canada) - the AC by default is lit. Am I doing something wrong? I obviously don't want AC when the interior and exterior temps are freezing! :)

Believe it or not, the AC should be on in the freezing temperatures as well! I know it sounds a little backwards compared to what we all were taught, the AC compressor is actually what dehumidifies the air! Google it and it'll blow your mind...in my personal Volvo, the only time the AC isn't running is if my entire system and fan are turned completely off, which is rare.

Oddly enough, I was actually on a live webinar with Volvo engineers not 3 hours ago and that was some thing that has been floated to them on many occasions and it is something that I believe they are actually considering. They are likely at odds a little bit with the product team as the semi autonomous side is heavily being pushed, so for the pilot assist system to just be on as standard kind of goes against the steering wheel buttons like it was for all of those years prior.

@@VolvoMike Honestly those left and right buttons on the left side of the steering wheel do nothing right now, I'd more like them to implement something that lets us choose how we want to use them. I'd love for them to cycle through drive modes since...you know...they decided to get rid of the drive mode selector for some reason.

It is ironic that update come OTA, but at 10:29 you can see that it states that 2.4 will only be installed at workshops. So most updates are OTA, few require workshop visits

Got a C40 today.... Coming from a V40 Cross Country... I would say the audio in the C40 is quite poor. Bass is weak and if there's a loudness or equaliser setting... I haven't found it.

Apple Maps will only work if your iPhone is plugged in to the USB port (the one with the white ring around it) and you allow acces for Apple CarPlay. Google maps will always be the default map on the Google system, while Apple Maps will always be the default map when you're on Carplay. If you are having problems with fog on your windshield and windows, you should have the AC button ON!!! The AC is actually what dehumidifies the windows, it's not just for when it's hot out.

Cool video tx. VOLVO missed a real safety thing here I guess, and that is the possibility to easily and rapidly change of Lane keep system and ACC through the steering wheel buttons. You have to manually scroll through several small menus and then select etc. All while looking at the screen and not so much at the road.

First question: I thought I'd read on the Volvo website that both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are only accessible via USB cable connection. Is this true currently? Nearly everyone else is offering wireless connections to those apps. Second: We frequently vacation in the mountains where there is no cellular coverage or wi-fi. Is there no on-board navigation database at all? Do maps download and save to be accessed when offline? Will access to navigation be totally lost in those instances?

Android auto isn't available via a phone tether as the vehicle itself runs on the google platform without the need for a phone. The bluetooth connection alone suffices for all of the phone/text functions. You are correct, Apple Carplay is a wired connection specifically. I'm assuming the vehicles that offer that functionality had to pay Apple for it, but that's just a guess. The vehicle has all of the necessary hardware for it, it just isn't wireless. With that being said, there a number of verified wireless carplay adapters that will work in the new Volvo's USB-C plug for those that need carplay. As an avid Carplay user in my personal vehicles for 5+ years, the need for it is much less necessary with how well the vehicle's bluetooth system and the vehicle's google system/maps/voice control work. I have many clients (it's not just me) that no longer use Carplay that did in their prior vehicles. With that being said, for Apple Music subscribers the experience IS better through carplay at the moment, but if Volvo is ever able to integrate Apple Music as a 3rd party app (ie: Tesla just did) it would virtually render the need to have CarPlay completely unnecessary. In regards to the Navigation, OFFLINE MAPS download automatically (assuming you allow it in settings) to have GPS functionality when you don't have cellular coverage.

I believe the big "missing in action" is the inclusion of the most popular chat applications, that would be Whatsapp in Europe (and I guess in the US as well), Wechat and so on. Not just a fashion issue, IMHO, but a safety question: messaging is continuous.. almost impossible to live/work without it. And while with Android Auto you keep listening and dictating replies, with AAOS the only option to "disappear" while driving is to look into your mobile phone screen.. not a safe option at all !!

Hello! I have a few questions: My home page only shows three options, not four. Can that be fixed? Is there a way to stop Google’s response confirming your command? “Please lower fan”. “Lowering fan by one degree”. That’s what I’m talking about. When playing Sirius XM through the car (not Car Play), is there a way to show the channel and song that’s currently playing? You can do this while connected to Sirius XM using Car Play. Why in earth do other brands connect to your phone wirelessly, but on Volvo it is wired? Thank you!

1-click the very bottom-left 4-boxes button. Simply drag and drop whatever icon you want to be in the empty box in to that box. They are customizable. 2-no way to turn off confirmation as of now 3-no way to change how Sirius displays 4-Likely money...I'm sure the licensing cost more to license wireless carplay than just wired carplay if I had to guess. The vehicle itself has all of the necessary tools for wireless CarPlay to function

I talked to Sirius XM. They walked me through rebooting my infotainment system (by pressing the home button for 20 seconds). It worked after it was rebooted. I can now see the album art and song currently playing on Sirius XM. Thanks for responding!

We are considering purchasing an XC-40. However I have seen a lot of poor reviews on this new google infotainment center. I have even heard a dealer admit there is a problem . Is this being addressed? Will:can this be addressed through a software update?

I think Volvo and polestar have done a nice just keeping up with any glitches that come up with new compatibility issues through software updates. The operating system is quite new in the grand scheme of things. Truthfully there is no such thing as a perfect vehicle operating system if it is connected and smart...a system from 20 years ago that was never designed to be futureproof and was just designed to come out and be exactly the same system 20 years later is far easier to design than one that is continuously upgraded and state of the art. I think the system is great and I really don't know of a comparable type of system that is better

The stuff with videos and multiple audio sources is way over my head. I need to learn how to toggle from FM radio to AM; and from radio to Sirius. And how to save favorites. I date back to an era when an AM radio had five push button stations. I'm an old LT guy (low tech). Suggestions, please!

I can appreciate that… First and foremost, there is no a.m. radio. Any specific a.m. stations have to be streamed through a few different possible apps, and that is unfortunately just the way it is. You can press the Google voice button on the steering wheel and tell it what specific station as long as it is a SiriusXM station or FM station and there is no need to switch manually between inputs. Google can just do it, but you have to preface it by saying "play," as in "play 90.7 FM" or "play coffeehouse on SiriusXM"

Hi Mike, really helpful review thanks. I took delivery of my 2023 XC60 phev a few weeks ago but still can't figure out how to play via Bluetooth, my own music stored on my Pixel phone (it worked once) but now the only message I see is "not provided". I can use my old iPod via Bluetooth but can't see or select albums, playlists etc. I expect it's related to settings somewhere but I can't find any resources for support in sorting out something as basic as this. I noticed you're an Apple user but I'm hoping you might be aware of a Volvo or other resource that might be able provide some guidance? Many thanks again for the video 👍

If I start playing music on the phone it will play through the Bluetooth link but I can't control anything playing from the car's media player so it will play one-time only. Like the iPod there's no information on what's playing either (just a blank screen). I found something on Reddit today suggesting a Google Assistant music services setting (which was set to YT Music). I don't use any music services but the Assistant settings suggest it should be able to use any music app on the phone. I now have no default provider set and the car is linked to allow personal results from the car's Assistant. I'll try again tomorrow and update here. Thanks again, Peter

I managed to get music stored on my phone playing on the media centre. I discovered the phone had turned on "Driving mode" in Bluetooth settings when connected to the car which seems to have prevented music being transmitted over Bluetooth. The other confusion was caused by VLC on the device which I replaced with a simple music player app Muzio (I don't know if Muzio is actually relevant). The music now plays and the media center shows track name, artist and control buttons (back, play/stop, forward). There are no controls to select tracks, playlists, albums, artists etc and the running order of tracks appears to be determined by the previously used settings on the Muzio app (alphabetical order or random play). Artist, album etc are not visible and neither is the running order of tracks. I suspect it would be the same using other similar music apps. I hope there will be further updates to provide better functionality but so far this has been a disappointing experience and a step backwards from my 2015 XC60. I have been using Apple CarPlay on my 2021 XC60. Just got a 2023 with the new infotainment system. I’m wondering if one can send and receive texts without using Apple CarPlay? I haven’t played with it yet. But love the new system so far.

You absolutely can. All through bluetooth. Pair your phone, allow notification access in the Bluetooth settings in your phone for the car. Tap the voice button on the steering wheel and say "read my text messages" and your car will prompt you how to do that on the top of the touchscreen. Done.

Do you know if the 4 year data plan comes with all volvos? My xc60 arrives in march

For the US market it comes on all Volvos. There was talk initially about CORE models only getting one year but I believe it's 4 years for every model now.

Hello, we're in the process of purchasing a C40 Recharge in the US. Our dealer stated that the data plan is for the life of the vehicle, however, the window sticker states it's for 4 years as you've said. Once the 4 years is up can we use our phone's network since we are already Android users paying for an existing plan?

Can voice command change drive modes or do you need to do that on screen?

If you're referring to the windshield, we no longer have electrically heated windshields in the USA. It used to be optional but I think too many owners complained of being able to see the heater elements and thought it was a safety issue.

You might have to put a 30lb weight on the drivers seat (for real) as there is a weight sensor on the seat that turns the car on when the key is in the vehicle.

Thank you. What happens if the system loses Internet connection, or what happens after 4 years of included service? Is it expensive to extend after 4 years? Can I use wireless Android Auto from my phone?

You should be able to use your phones hotspot for data if you choose not to pay for the services after the trial expires. I don't know how they are going to monetize it to extend the factory coverage as I don't think it's been announced yet.

Did they over-the-air update Apple CarPlay capabilities yet? They said “it was coming” at the release but I haven’t seen any reviews stating whether or not this has happened yet.

ALL XC40 EV/Recharge full electric have the Google system at least for the american market. In the XC40 (other than Recharge), XC90, S60, V60CC models the traditional SENSUS system was included in all of these models through the 2022 model year. The XC60 was the first mainstream model to use the Google based system. All 2023 models have the Google system.

Just bought a 2023 Volvo XC40. Trying to hook up an old school non-Bluetooth iPod so I can listen to my own downloaded music. I had a 2019 XC40 and it ran the iPod through the USB port. I purchased the adaptor for USB to USB-C but it doesn’t recognize the iPod. Is it not possible?

From what I understand, you'll need to download the audiowagon app from the Google play store on the cars touchscreen for usb audio to work whether or not it will recognize the old school ipod I will wait to hear back from you! Good luck my friend, let me know! If it doesn't work immediately, I would specifically try to find an adapter that's an old style iPod pin port directly to usb-c as opposed to and old cable with another usb-c adapter to the end of it. Which specific iPod style is it? Does it have a lightning cable or an old wide Apple cable port? OR, if it's the old 30pin style connector you can stream that via Bluetooth with this type of adapter of the audiowagon app doesn't work: Bluetooth Transmitter Splitter with aptX/Low-Latency aptX/FastStream/SBC codecs, Compatible with 30-pin iPod a.co/d/cAIAQkL

Also of now in the North American market, the Google vehicles don't have hotspot capability. You ARE able to connect the vehicles to external WiFi like a phone's hotspot (I just tested it), but our vehicles come with 4 years of free data on the Google plan.

Can’t you set your screen with multiple apps working at noce like in the previous model? For example, maps and Spotify together

Yes! In the bottom left corner of the screen, you'll see 4 boxes. Press that to get the expanded view of all of your apps within all 4 of your tiles. You can drag and drop any app to any tile. Once organized accordingly, press the home button to go back to your home/4 tile screen. Now, within each of your tiles you can actually swipe from left to right to select a different app. As long as Spotify and maps aren't in the same tile you can display 4 different apps at once!

ok but in that case on the "Google maps" line, what do I see? the actual map or just a title with, I don't know, ETA? in the old infotainment model, you could see the content of an app with a large view but not full screen (and then you could maximize it if you wanted), that view was useful to have a multiple apps view at once. but it's not clear to me if that approach could be replicated here. thanks a lot @@VolvoMike

You can't save music on the vehicles internal storage. I'll have to try to borrow an android phone to see if the Audiowagon app works for android devices.

What about KZread? Is i available in some countries? According to Volvos website, it would be the first video App on the new system? Its nowhere to be found in my car 🤷🏻‍♂️ And.. what are the two arrow-buttons on the left side of the steering wheel for? A friend of mine, says he can turn steering assist on and of with one of them in he's polestar 2. My xc40 does nothing when I push these buttons 🤔

KZread isn't available yet...just on the Polestar brand I think. The Google powered vehicles took the functionality of the left and right arrows that control the pilot assist away and moved them to the touch screen Volvo engineers SAY that they will be adding functionality to those buttons, but who knows what and when

Feels wrong to have 2 useless buttons 😕 And they don't mention them in the manual in the Volvo app. Also find it a bit wired that one button simply removes the map - looks like something is missing. They could have made an alternative layout or show additional information instead if you for some reason don't want the map.

hm....have you tried the reboot? Also, to troubleshoot you can hook up to wifi and see if you have the same issues. Yes, it shouldn't last for long and it should be too strong. Also, sometimes when detailers use certain 'protectants' on the engine bay, they can burn off when the car is new...shouldn't last too long.

Is Waze supported? This is the only really useable realtime app supporting realistic arrival times and mobile speed trap alerts not to forget the awesome support for local events / temporary closed streets..etc..

@@AirBozzz You can use both Filip. I'm very new to the car (1 week) but I have used Car Play (maps) and the radio at the same time. I've used iHeart radio at the same time to. So it seems you can use apps. I haven't been able to get the apple maps on the instrument cluster display (it's just black). More investigating to be done there.

Yes! Depending on station, it must be streamed from IHEART radio, RDIO radio, or TUNEIN radio. Each app is free to download from the cars FOUR BOX / GOOGLE DOWOAD screen

@@jameslatham6512 there may be a way to remove the AT&T card and insert your own, but I don't know. It's free for 4 years and then most will use their phone as a hotspot to have the same functionality.

I have an XC40 Recharge (Core Model) in the UK. I cannot believe it does not have WhatsApp in the play store (Android). Also, seems to only have active Apple Carplay if it is physically wire connected to the car.

The available apps in the App Store on the touch screen are 100% controlled by Google from what I understand. I've actually spoken with Volvo engineers about app availability and that's the answer I was given. There are wireless adapters that now work with the USB-C port in the new Google based vehicles.

Profile changes are a breeze both changing from the touch screen or programming profiles to specific keys. There are no drive mode options on the Google cars in the USA other than the "always start in pure mode" for the plug in hybrids. All of these settings and Spotify accounts are separated between profiles. A much better profile execution than on the sensus vehicles prior!

Volvo's Google (infotainment) Data collection system demonstration The sad thing is if Google has not "lowered" their standards it even collects information on Phones, Networks and other cars the inbuilt data collection system comes in contact with. I'm waiting for this system to be deemed illegal in the EU

I have an XC60 T6 Recharge, 2023 model - Maybe we have different versions from your region, but the Android Automotive is just sad really. You can't use Waze, nor any other non-approved Volvo apps so the number of apps in the play store as of end of November 2022 is pittifull. I was just amazed that Sygic - which I have bought - has an extra payed special version for Android automotive, all in all, I think even Android Auto that just mirrors your phone is currently much better than this chopped Android version. All that you are amazed about it, you can do with ANY android phone as well if not better, except the functions of the car.

Wonderful idea. I'll upload a video sooner than later. Volvo EVs can charge at any charge source other than a Tesla Supercharger. They use the industry standard plug and come with a home charge cable for both 110v (regular household plug) and 220v applications. Charging on a level 2 (220v plug) charger can completely charge them overnight. At a public fast charge station you can reach 80% in as little as about 30 minutes.

Is it only on for 2023 XC 60. I don't have this type of functionality on my 2019 xc90

I've heard nothing. I remember POLESTAR touting it a while back but must have missed Volvo's pushing it.

And Volvo in their infinite goodness might actually return the ability to play audio on the USB port ?, when I got my c40 it worked, then a couple of days later Volvo did a software upgrade and REMOVED the facilitly, gosh THANKS VOLVO, even the dealers didn't know !! and NO ONE KNOWS WHY they removed it !! We have it back NEARLY but no matter the stick it says it's not compatible. You click through it and guess what IT WORKS so it's not incompatible !, the problem, every time you switch on you have go through the process and it takes nearly TWO MINUTES to play what you were listening to. AUDIOWAGON is the only App that lets you play music on the USB port. Apple CarPlay is a PAIN it's WIRED ONLY !!, I'm not interested in CarPlay so USE BLUETOOTH it is wireless !

I have to disagree with you on the screen controlled issue. To me reaching for a dail or a knob is done without removing my eyes from the road, while doing it by voice so often fails and you end up shuffling through the menus to do it. That is bad for traffic safety! Also I don’t get why you can’t type in your destinations on the navigation system, and rearrange them to your desire. Now you have to type in the end destination and that’s it. You can not type in a destination on the way. You have to do it by voice, and it fails all the time. Not a fan!

@@VolvoMike It is not on only destinations, as it is commands for example for heated seats or others. And it will not understand when I ask for “seat heater level 2”. Just turns the damn thing on max. Love the drive, but hate the Android OS. Not invented by car lovers, but by tech guys. So far from Volvos previous standards.

I've also found that when dictating an address that starts with a "1" (example 17665 Burt st) it functions best by saying "seventeen-six-six-five Burt street" for some reason. I don't know why, it just works better. Hopefully these tips and software improvements help make your experience better in time!!

@@VolvoMike i have not driven a model with English language, as I live in Denmark. So it might work in English, but I actually have friends that haven’t changed language and still have similar issues. Worst of all though is the navigation system, that in many ways is useless, when it comes to planning your trip. Love the preheating of the battery and the SoC of your arrival. But planning a trip, and putting in charging stops on the fly, is crappy. It should be more intuitive and easy to rearrange destinations, and search for ex restaurants at your destination. When you search for restaurants and move your screen to your destination area, you get the possibility to “Search here”, but when you hit that button it zooms back to your present destination, and show restaurants there 🤦‍♂️ Thanks anyway for your swift reply and for trying to help out 😊👍

Nice review But Volvo! I must confirm - Android is a rubbish. It started to work after 3 updates. Till now THERE IS NO PLAYER to listen hi-res music from USB! So what for B&W system? And this FAT32…

Well I bought it a Volvo XC40 T5 phev my 23 and actually doesn't come with Google Service integrated. What you said can't be true for all countries, in my country Italy the Google Service are available only for the pure electric and the mild-hybrid. Really don't understand why shame on Volvo. I hope in future maybe Volvo would change mind and make available for all vehicles the G-Services

It wouldn't make any sense to pay for Google Services since they're not available for the phev models. Anyway you introduced another issue imho. The services that you just showed in the video as much as I know they are included for 3/4 year after this period volvo for sure (as much as I know) will make these services fee-based.

nothing to do with the infotainment, but it was in our view the entire video... that weird piece of plastic that replaces the start button on EV's. Come on Volvo, this is not a cheap car, put in some shortcut button or an extra light or something. Anything really, just don't leave it like this.

So basically Volvo took the petrol body shell, and converted it to battery. The charging socket is where the old petrol filler used to be, and the transmission tunnel is still there in the way of rear seat passengers. What a bloody scam. And what an ugly lump. A Chinese lump.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but North American gas door is on the right side of the vehicle and the charge socket is on the left side. The "transmission tunnel" isn't just wasted space for what it's worth. BUT yes, it is a converted XC40 but the platform always had electrification in mind when it was produced. The all new EX90 was designed from the ground up as an EV and will arrive in early 2024. Toodles!

The system is horrible. The design is outlandishly outdated. No wireless Apple CarPlay. Basic functions buried under a lot of menus. How can such a company make such a lousy job with one of the crucial aspects of modern driving experience.

2020 XC60 was the worst vehicle I ever owned. Tons of quality issues. Total POS. First and last Volvo for me.

Wow, I'm sorry for your troubles. We have personally had phenomenal luck with the 7 Volvos between my wife and I since 2007.
