Both. The factory in Belgium is the global hub for manufacturing CMA-based cars. The CMA factory in China focus on the APAC-region.

Looks like a lot more human hands on than at some factories......Chinese and Tesla.

Workers at 'Recharge' production look very slow. Plant doesn't look busy either.

This was filmed before full production, during "learning period" for operators, also some robots clearly not at 100% speed. I work there, normally these things go faster :D

The factory in Gent is located ‘next to’ a plant of Arcelor Mittal a steelmaker formerly by the name of SidMar or ‘Sidurgie Maritime’ which translates to ‘steelmaking by the sea’ as it is located on the channel from Terneuzen to Gent whereby Terneuzen is a open harbor in the Northsea. Volvo Sweden gets their steel from Sidmar, makes autoparts of it which are assembled at Volvo Gent again. Ships from Sweden to Belgium will be loaded both ways, to Sweden with rolls of steel, to Belgium with parts. It’s going on since the early sixties. A lot of dutch workers are employed in the Belgium factories of Volvo and Arcelor. The area is called ‘The Channel zone’ and is a part of the Belgium and Dutch ‘EUregio’.

it was probably fixed up by the dealer as part of PDI... At this point you have the right to refuse the car or negotiate a price discount.

@@GinoGoole Torslanda is the main manufacturing plant for the V60, but they do what is called flex-build in Belgium. Meaning that they can shift part on the manufacturing to Ghent if necessary to up production or unload the capacity at Torslanda.

Geely owns Volvo but they will stay independent and be partners on some projects and technologies

Owned by Geeley (Chinese) but Geeley only handles the finances. Volvo is free to do what they want with that money.

Lol no. Only Volvo cars sold in China will be made in Chinese factories. The US and Europe will still get models made in Europe. Some models like S60 will be made in the US. Some Volvo cars going to Southeast Asia will be made in Malaysia.

Well if Ford kept Volvo, Volvo would be making horrible cars because Ford never invested money into Volvo. Geeley has been investing lots of money into Volvo R&D while not telling what to do except make great cars.

Ford only sold Volvo cars to Geeley Motors so that they could start a joint-venture in China without the risk of being shut down and so far Tesla is the only foreign auto maker to enter the Chinese car market without a joint-venture with a government owned/controlled car company...

I hope Volvo plastic engineering has gotten better since 2010. My xc90 seems to be biodegradable. Virtually every major expense I’ve suffered has been because some plastic piece in the engine bay or fuel system has literally decomposed and caused major problems. Inexcusable in the $50,000-70,000 price range.

I’m assuming you have a 2010 XC90? Those were during the Ford years. Volvo is so much different now.

@@chrisak49 I hope so, but honestly Ford makes pretty good cars and especially trucks here in the US so 🤷🏼‍♂️.

you would think that after all these years of manufacturing all those Volvos They should be able to work out all the bugs and kinks but yet they are still riddled with technical service bulletins and recalls. i’m so happy that Toyota tundra is a very reliable vehicle.

@@nikandraathelvete research it, for example I own a 2010 s40 and it was made in Belgium but most of the parts are from Sweden, Volvo makes or has made certain models of their vehicles in Belgium for a long time

Humans won't be needed at all in factories soon except for maintaining equipment and maybe final quality inspections.

Volvo Cars is owned by a private Chinese company but is still a swedish registered and operated brand. Design and engineering is done in Swedend along with the main manufacturing plant being there. In addition they have factories in Belgium, USA and China.

as a Volvo user for some years (ca. 25) I've to say , this is far the ugliest ! Front: OK, sideline: OK till B-column , than it sucks ! What for is this Cheese-Triangle-Fin on the end of the window for ? Blocking the view is the minimum .....
