@@thomasrudy6132 This cannot really be compared to a normal porsche. its more of a Luxury retro super sports car with a rollcage and engine out of a S60 Race car. everything about this car is insane if you watch how this is made. you do not buy something like this becasue you might want it, you buy it becasue you definitly want it. if you just want something fast then you have you'r run of the mill 100 grand porsche but this on the other hand is pretty much up there with the Ferrari F40

You've got to admire Jay's commitment to never let a guest finish a sentence.

Instead--because the host appears to have ADD: he can't stop talking, can't stay on track, can't help repeating himself, can't let a guest finish a sentence--it's an uneven automobile show with moments of greatness counterbalanced by tedious patches of Leno brain-mush. If anyone wonders why a talk show needs a director, I give you Exhibit A.

I also admire him for his driving skills; he always uses his turn signals, he stays in his lane, never passes on the right and he's always respectful of other drivers and never lets his film crew bully other drivers. What a guy.

I always loved the P1800; ever since I was a young boy, watching Roger Moore as The Saint, driving his beautiful white one. It looked so futuristic and sporty back in the 1960's. This modern replica, looks absolutely fantastic. Thank you.

I agree and I remember on Saturday afternoons watching episodes of "The Saint" and marveling that a stogy boring and super anal on safety carmaker like Volvo could make a super cool sports car like the P1800 that an English super cool PI such as Simon Templar would choose this as his mount versus a Jag E-Type.. Btw Roger Moore will always be Simon Templar to me than James Bond.

Jay is right, the right "stance" makes the car. The stance on this car is perfect! The wheels fill out the wheel wells, and lowered just enough to look aggressive without being undrivable. A car you can actually drive over a railroad crossing! Nice job Cyan!

I'm 76 this month, so back in my day, this was a neat-looking Volvo when I was young. Thanks for featuring it on your show. I enjoy listening to all the technical details.

Finally someone did this beautiful design it's full and appreciated justice.

This car is an opera on wheels. It's a modern art masterpiece. Absolutely gorgeous.

I think the most underappreciated part of this show is Jays ability to drive any vehicle flawlessly. From a McLaren P1 to a Stanley Steam car.

Except for the fact he won’t let his guest finish a sentence or truly explain the car because he goes on his tangents. Jay is great but this show needs a director.

Sweden has the highest concentration of American classics outside the USA. Swedes love tickering in the garage with vehicles, bikes, boats, tractors...In the town where I live, I've seen a Ford RS 1600 Twin-Cam in Blue with Yellow stripes which is remindful of this beautiful P1800. One of my ex-work colleagues used to rave about the Volvo 240 "Only need a coil of wire and some pliers, you fix anything, good car the Volvo!". Great work Mr Bååth and the Cyan team, bra jobb!

@@markp44288 this has more Karmann DNA than Volvo from the hood back. Which is why it really sticks out. Timeless design is very rare. The nsx from the 90's still looks modern too.

Everything is perfect about this car. Stance, wheels, color, body, sound, engine.

Speaking of music, as they started the rollout from the garage I heard the television show's theme music. For the youngsters, I speak of _'The Saint'_ starring Roger Moore.

This has to move into my Top 10 for cars on this show. Everything about this car is fantastic.

I absolutely love this show, this is Jay Leno at his finest. Every part of that Volvo is perfect, the grill, the chrome strips, the fuel cap and tank, the engine sounds fantastic, it's stance and custom wheels are exquisite.

I had a '71 P1800e in the same color. Tears in my eyes... Love that design!

Used to work in a Dealer bodyshop days and had my own paint shop where I worked nights.(1977) Restored and painted an orange P1800 wagon, had a sporty exhaust, upgraded tires, just a beautiful car. One of the few I would loved to keep,.. everything was just right. Owner let me take it for a spin, (with him in the passenger seat), was a great experience that I never forgot!!

THIS WAS MY FIRST CAR AT 16..going to college in 1970. Orange Coast College. It was yellow. I loved it. Had an overdrive too. Very cool car.

My favorite car ever was my P1800S. In the Army in Germany. 1969-71. 120 down the autobahn all the way from Frankfurt to Munich. Stick shift w/overdrive. Inline 4 with twin carbs. All just stock.

Jay Leno labelling 18" wheels as "old school" has impacted me greatly and I'm still processing it. Damn I'm old now!

I remember thinking I was bad a$$ when I put 15” x 8” OEM corvette rally rims on my ‘67 Cameo 327ci convertible with fake bumblebee stripe an SS emblems. With radial T/A 60’s all the way around it stuck like glue and was fun to drive. I would love to get that back. Drove Volvos for 25 years & would live a stock 0 1800es.🙂

This tendency for the "modern" cars to go to lower and lower aspect ratios is just stupid on real world street cars. The taller the rims are that usually indicates lower and lower aspect ratios. I don't know when "Old School" kicks in but I have a 2001 BMW 330xi that came with 45 series tires on 17" rims. On decent pavement, they handle well. Unfortunately, the real world these days doesn't run on decent pavement! In the last 7-8 years with this car (I've had it for 11 years) I've replaced two rims and two tires due to unavoidable pot holes. The roads are pitifully maintained and we keep hearing that this "new bond issue" is to fix the roads. Politely, that is a load of "creative fertilizer!!" When I see a hot new car on the street with 25 or 35 series tires, I just wonder where this guy thinks he can get out of town and actually drive that thing? Track day... that's the best answer, track day!! 🤔😒

I hate it when people put big wheels on classic cars. It's so distasteful. Looks really out of place. Even on this P1800. It's a tad too big. 17 inches wheels or even 16 would look better.

We need this in production. What a special car, and absolutely gorgeous.

My friend had a P1800. Such a fine automobile. I owned 3 240s also great automobiles. Thank you Jay for the memories.

You know, I watch an unhealthy amount of Jay and his cars, especially his older and oldest ones, but we connect so well when it comes to being a driver, because that's really what it's all about in the end. Thank you so much, Jay, for bringing this to all of us. It really is a beautiful legacy. I am so grateful...

That's about the prettiest engine/engine compartment I've seen this century. Thanks for the long camera shots that allowed us to drool over that gorgeous body styling.

The easiest job in the world. Make a replicar as expensive as you wish - No expense spared - and you will ALWAYS find someone stupid enough to buy it. Automobiles ! I wonder what the next global "fad" will be once these gas guzzlers disappear from the roads because I would like to start a business Cars are NOT for me.

Very tasteful modern upgrade, absolutely drop dead gorgeous and what I would call a dream car, always has been but this makes it even more so. Congratulations to Cyan and its owner for what they accomplished here!

MY FAV! Had a roommate in late 70's that was from a Volvo/MG family (not common) - his red P1800 and White 1800ES are fond memories. So simple. So dependable. This car? The stance is damn perfect! The Saint would be envious - even with all that patience!

My first car was a red 63 MG Midget. I went from the ridiculous to the sublime when I bought a black 64 P18.

Fell in love with this car as an eleven year old in 1964. Relatives from Connecticut would come up and stay with my grandparents for the summer. They had the wagon version. When you think back to 64 in a small New Hampshire town, I had never seen ANYTHING like that. I think we had a 59 Rambler American Cross Country wagon. To see that Volvo, it was just so gorgeous. Still is. Thanks for taking me back to that time!

I agree with Jay so much about so much, and have for decades, since I was twelve. There's something undeniably beautiful and universal about the best of these older ideas that just plain worked, perfectly. Just gorgeous...

I so wished I could afford a P 1800 back I the day. Absolutely a beautiful classic made even better.

That has to be the best body style ever! I had a 1967, and loved it. Sadly, hit a deer and wrote it off. Thanks for the video, Jay!!

Years of watching these videos, and this car is an all time favorite! The looks, the sounds!

I love it. I also love the color. The Volvo R models brought a similar one 10-15 years ago with them and it simply looked perfect. It's the "if I can choose the car color that's the color I'm going with". Distinctive, neat, fun.

This is one of the cars where all you can say is... Automotive perfection

Volvos have always been preferred by hot rodders here in Sweden. Plentiful and cheap. I got a 1964 Amazon, looks like crap but mechanical sound. Lot of fun to drive and always makes me feel 18 again.

They never made that many P1800S cars. I think total production was only about 56,000 in all the years they were made.

I've always loved the P1800 and this CYAN is gorgeous!!!

To me, it's obvious it's not really a P1800, but a P1800 corrected. A lot of subtle changes that corrected proportions and fixed lines. Absolutely brilliant job. The engine noise, obvious suspension compliance that has to make it much more comfortable to drive, free revving, accurate shifting- I want one so bad I can taste it, but know I could never afford it. The body alone- hand laid carbon fiber- makes it unattainable for middle incomes. Too bad. Beautiful piece of work.

What a beautiful ride. It has it all. The new look, the stance, and the sound.

So many beautiful cars came out of the 60’s, good lord.

Thanks Jay & guest. For me this is one of your best ever clips. The car is such a classic and has been upgraded so well and is so usable. I think Jay really enjoys driving it. The Volvo guy was a great knowledgeable passionate guest and easy to listen to.

Had a '63 stock P1800. Loved it! Back when the chrome trim followed the line in the door. The car of the Saint!

I listened to all her noises, as a musician and mechanic, she sounds beautiful! Very tight quality in the build. Needless to say the doors, lid, and trunk sound first rate as did all the music when you drove it. Mercy, what a car!!! Mikel

When Jay fired up the CYAN in the garage, it rumbled so nice on my system, which has a Sub Woofer, I really felt it in my chest. Very satisfying. And the road test was a lot of fun to watch, and listen to. Jay really seemed to be enjoying himself. And that's what it's all about. And the blue color matches the car name very well.

P1800 is one of my favorite cars. I fell in love watching the Saint. The 1800 with dual SUs was bullet proof I had a 144S that had that engine and put 100000 miles with only replacing the water pump and clutch. Beautiful car wish I could afford one.

I can remember these being available for a few hundred dollars back in the 80’s. Wish I had bought a couple, they are a great platform for restomoding. Beautiful lines and great stance. This one is really nice.

@@johnjenkins6328 I did alright with stocks and real estate but they’re not nearly as cool as vintage cars.

One reason I love my 93 ZR-1. Just enough horsepower with a few mods and the road feedback is great. Driver focused cockpit, and a harness seatbelt system makes me feel like I'm in a fighter jet for the road. Don't need 1000hp to enjoy it.

Flip that oil filter to it’s side( kit to do it). ZR-1’s filters use to drain back into the pan, when shut off. Bearing stop, didn’t really work. Bad filter design. Every time you started it, your refilling that filter, hence running engine dry.

The 'sport wagon' version of this, with the glass lift-hatch at the rear - fun sports car that could also carry your golf clubs! XLNT and fun design.

That's also my favorite Volvo. Some years ago, there was a green one on BaT. It was located in SoCal, where I lived then, but originally purchased from Volvo Village in the Boston area, where I'm from and live now. I also used to know the family who owned this dealership. Anyway, as I recall, the buyer was a Swede who had it shipped back to Sweden. So that was cool to see.

Being of a certain age, this Volvo ticks all the boxes. I was a gear-head kid in the 60s when these cars were current, and I loved them. My family owned a PV544 when I was little, and a 245DL later, so I’ve always had a soft spot for Volvos.

Thank you Jay great video, this brought back so many memories for me, I worked for Volvo in Canada in the late 80's at a dealership in Winnipeg who had the franchise since the early 60's , in 1988 we got to 1800's 1 P1800 and 1 P 1800ES both fuel injected and both 130 hp from factory, great driving cars, the 2 door was 3100lbs and the ES was 3300lbs , it was right on the I.D. Plate when you opened the drivers door , the P1800ES was owned by a photographer who worked for the local newspaper, and we were selling it on consignment for him it was that Volvo light blue with black leather interior and was in original immaculate shape , never winter driven and serviced by Volvo mechanics only, he was asking $10,000.00 for it and was worth every dollar and i had the pleasure of driving it several weekends that summer and was lucky enough to sell it in early September in 1988 for him for $9500 which was a good value for a car only having just over 41,000 miles and this photographer is the reason i got into photography as a hobby right to this day , thank you for the great memories and an awesome 1964 Volvo Cyan ❤

Such a beautiful car. I don't know why Volvo hasn't done an updated version the way American carmakers have done the Camaro and Challenger.

The car Polestar 1 is an updated P1800.

Love the "snick" of the gearbox. So good to hear that horsepower is not the end all and be all. As a past owner of two.miatas, fun is more important than power.

Such a beautiful car, always loved the design but Cyan Racing absolutely hit it out of the park with a great stance and more than adequate drive train!

What a simply GORGEOUS car! I've loved that body style since I was a young lad and can truly appreciate the improvements that were made. Wish I could afford one!

I've always loved this design, especially the wagon variant. What a beautiful package.

My older brother had one back in he late seventies. I remember cruising through parts of Eastern Colorado at 100. Loved the overdrive. Loved that car.

Absolutely LOVE this one. Brilliantly designed...sharp....and handsome. Enough usable power and speed. Great episode. Great video.

One of my all time Volvo favorites . Love the color too.

You've got the right collection of just about everything, and this Volvo P1800 is absolutely stellar. I can't believe how well this car is pinned together, absolutely immaculate in every sense of the word. Congratulations!

What a beautiful bodied car, just love the stance, haunches, colour and stripe over the roof and stops short down the hood. It is a modern classic, well done.

My first car was a used 5 year old 1960 Volvo , a 4 door 122s. As a young man, of course the P1800 was my heart throb! I still think they are very attractive! :)
