@fishyuwu you are right. But right before the 240 crested this waterfall I watched an AWD subaru bouncing off its rev limiter make it half way up and have to back off and try again. The 240 made it in one shot.

Drove a few of these old Volvo tanks! Bought each of them as used cars! First a 240 sedan. Built like a tank and sturdy as one. Once had a rear end collision to a Ford Fiesta who thought brake checking me would be an amazing idea! It was not!! The Fiesta went out of it as totaled, completely warped bodywork. The 240 had one headlight and the radiator grill broken, nothing too expensive! Then there was a 245 station wagon, with the 6 cylinders diesel engine, strong as a moose and frugal as a mouse! Carried me for many years. Then my wife fell in love with a 740 sedan. That car stayed with me for some three months, until a neighbor from three streets down parked her Opel Corsa (with 70 km/h ( 43 mph) in a 30 km/h (19 mph) zone) directly in my trunk. Due to the fact she was offset to the left she didn´t hit the massive part of the rear bumper, ripped down the rear left fender until the rear axle, which warped the bodywork slightly, although all four doors still worked perfectly. The trunk was a totally different story, obviously! When I got the car towed to the dealer I had bought it from he shook his head and asked me what had happened to the car. I told him the car he sold me wasn´t winterproof! He looked at me in disbelief and stated that it was the month of june! So I told him that the women who was to blame for the accident was a Mrs Winter! After a bit of negotiating and giving my old 245 station wagon into account, inserting the money from the insurance and a 1000 Deutschmarks (the good old times), I was able to buy a 4 years old 945 station wagon (with approx. 200 000 km ( 125 000 miles) on the clock. A good friend of mine was working as master mechanic for the Volvo dealer and he told me that this car was driven by a reporter of a german tv channel, mostly long distance routes, even from Germany to Italy or Norway, and had an immaculate service record. Sold this car 6 years later with nearly the double mileage and a worn-out clutch not too much under the prize I had payed.

the fuel pump is inside the tank, only in the very deepest sections would the tank touch the water. also, unless theres oil leaking out of the oil pan gasket, the water would have no way to get into the oil. i dont see why the car would have any problems. if water gets into the cabin then you may have some electrical problems.
