Volkswagen Dual Mass Flywheel

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I had a knocking / rattling noise in my 2011 Jetta TDI at idle. The problem turned out to be a worn dual mass flywheel. In this video, I have removed the transmission to access the flywheel. There are many other components removed to access other parts I am replacing on the vehicle while it is apart.

Wow, this is AWESOME!!! Thanks so much for taking time to make this video. Now I know why my repair place estimates $3,000 to fix that rattley flywheel! What an amazing amount of work & details to get it all apart & back together. I'm blown away. This was a great video. Thanks again!

Damn! I have a similar VAG car and I'm in awe of this mans ability to disassemble it so fast and think it's nothing special. Interesting video - looking forward to the sequel.

The mk5/6 platforms are really simple to work on. You need a few uncommon tools but nothing crazy. I did an engine swap on a sport wagon tdi and was amazed with how little time I need to take apart and put back together. I thought it was gonna be a pain but not at all.

I’m over just glad VW put a hex on the outside of the triple square. I bought my set at Napa 6 years ago. I’m pretty sure nothing else in the world uses them

For this one, it was actually quite easy to work on! The only part that was a real pain was the thermostat. It is really buried in there!

Change the thermostat while you in there. That requires removal of oil filter housing and check your plastic pipe to the thermostat.
