    Uncommonly beautiful videography. Your sense of story and how to “tell” it, visually, is of great practical importance, at a time of potential crisis. There is no “hype”, just cool, clear information and vivid imagery. A model of good communication.

    Excellent video. You relate the information using a storyboard of pictures, video footage and maps. I love watching volcanoes and lava flows, and Fagradrasfjall was a great tourist volcano. I hope this next one is as friendly, but it seems the Blue Lagoon and Grindavik may be in peril.

    Thank you Sue, I'm glad you enjoyed it :) Let's hope that both of these places will be uneffected. Their location however is a little unfortunate given that now we see the eruptions getting more and more frequent there so it is perhaps only a matter of time when they stand right in the path of lava

    I was in Iceland just two weeks ago and enjoyed it. However, I was in the blue Lagoon on my first day to recover from Jetlag, but there were so many people with cameras filming back-and-forth that it wasn’t so relaxing. In Germany they don’t allow cameras in the thermal springs so it’s more relaxing there.

As for blue lagoon, to be honest in my years of living in Icelnad I've never even been there as I knew I would be annoyed by overpaying to be trying to relax in a crowded place. Thank u for sharing the beautiful footage of magma flow n a possible scenario of how the eruption may look like. Up until now , i wouldnt be able to imagine what its meant by an eruption from the usual sense of the word of volcano coz Grindavik seems very flat n its like an area of calm except for the cracks the road n building n gaseous escaping from them. Cannot imagine a magma dyke underneath it. Why would a town be built over this or has condition changed as with unpredictable mother nature . Hope everything wil turn out ok n the magma will just flow into the sea without any any major eruption n the town n lagoon are spared of damages

    I see a lot of people being nasty about visitors to the Blue Lagoon. We were just there and following the news about the eruption. At the time we went, a week before this video was posted, the channel of lava beneath the lagoon was unknown. We were assured that it was safe when we called. All sources were saying it was safe. We did go. It was amazing. Had we known about the channel, we wouldn’t have gone. Earthquakes do not mean anything to us (we’re from California) but lava is a whole mysterious world to us. Please remember that the information on this is changes hour by hour. Additionally, they shut it down Thursday 9th.

    The groundwater in the area around Blue Lagoon, what are the chances of a phreatomagmatic eruption?

  • @janiniceland

    @janiniceland

    8 ай бұрын

    that's a great question which I wish I had an answer for. i am no expert but- I guess if magma goes through some of the underground water paths it could contribute to higher explosivity, however in that scenario I'm not sure there's enough water to categorise it as phreatomagmatic eruption. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    I wouldn’t do that if you want to be safe. There’s too many moss covered rocks to slip on, to say nothing about some of the crevices and also the possible scolding, hot pools to accidentally step in. Also, stepping on moss is really, I believe environmentally bad, and possibly illegal because once you’ve hurt the moss, it takes decades to regrow in this environment
