🛩️ Volantex Ranger 2000 - INAV Build Overview Part One

Ғылым және технология

Just a quick overview of my build of a Volantex Ranger 2000. In this first video I show the parts I used to get the aircraft flying with FPV/INAV etc, and then in the 2nd video I'll be showing the additional features I plan to add such as a pan/tilt mechanism, multiple different cameras, airspeed sensor etc. Hope you enjoy :)

    Looking forward to the next part. Couple things. This body will fit both these wings and the 1600 wings. Thats the only difference between them. The 1600 wings don't have flaps. With the flaps add in some down elevator in inav in the mix. Helps a lot. I had the 1600 a couple years ago. There are some parts on thingivers for the plane. There was a front canopy there as well. Make sure to print a couple extra wing clips. They do break from time to time. Right now I have the Phoenix 2400. I have a pan/tilt on the front canopy. I did use the foam that was there but I did laminate it and printed a plate for the bottom of it to give it some stiffness. For the servo I went over kill and have a big 32g servo I believe it is from my antenna tracker mounted for the pan and then a normal 9g for the tilt. That has a runcam hybrid in it. Up on the tail I have a runcam racer.

    I'm not so sure you'd want that camera firmly screwed in, at that location. More than likely at some point it will be taking a hit when landing and you might be glad to have it just get knocked loose and fall back inside.

    Unless....it had a tricycle landing gear with it's nose gear on the front of the pho sailplane wheel. Then a pan/tilt could be attached on the flat area under the nose that might be protected from strikes by the shark nose and nose gear. A little draggy maybe.

    Very true, although my worry is the tape will give out in flight and the camera will fall inside the fuselage lol. Pretty unlikely I know. Won't be such a issue when I have the other cameras installed anyway, can just switch to a different one if something bad happens :)

    @@gizfpv I feel like that's the move for setting it up, tho I'm not sure it has any advantages for the stabilization or control, the flying wings seem to all use it, my FC is the matek 411-WSE and it only has 4 servo outputs, so if separate them, I won't have a free Chanel for the flaps. Unless it can do softserial like beta flight

    Take a look at Andrew Newtons video on setting up Crow Braking to have good landing flap configuration. Dip on launch is normal, as motor thrust angle needs to go through centre of mass; thus effectively increasing wing loading. You could counter it with elevator mix, or just be gentle on applying power, with steeper than typical launch throw.

  • @gizfpv

    @gizfpv

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I've seen other people launch their Ranger's and noticed the nose always dips on launch for them too. It's not a problem, just something to be wary of. I might enable launch mode for this aircraft, just to help it get in the air. Or alternatively might just try a belly launch

    I mainly fly mine with the 1600mm wings for a more sporty flight. But the 2m was my FPV trainer using a Vector FC. It took a beating, but is still flying after ditching the FC for a R9Stab receiver. This plane showed the non fpv fans at our club what fun it is to "Fly the pattern." under goggle. I learned to take off of grass, fly a bit then shoot approaches and eventually "short finals and even touch and goes!, all under goggle. Adding a Insta360 go 2 next to the fpv camera on a simple pan made it a good camera plane. I really would like to add a low profile tricycle landing gear with it's nose gear on the front of the pho sailplane wheel. Then a pan/tilt could be attached on the flat area under the nose that might be protected from strikes by the shark nose and nose gear. A little draggy maybe? Here is mine with 1600mm wing kzread.info/dash/bejne/iHyDy9xmj5fcmc4.html

    That's a nice video. Can you buy just the wings for these things then? Would be nice to have the option to pick and choose which wings to use on any given day. And yeah, I wouldn't mind having wheels with a pan/tilt slung under the nose. There's a KZreadr called Visma that's done that on his Ranger EX and it looks awesome

    Hi Giz, great video. As Matek said, I'd get rid of the servos. I would go even further and replace the stock motor and ESC.... Also the fuselage can take some good beating, but is susceptible to transfer any vibration (unlike foamy) - I'd pay extra attention properly balancing the prop and making sure the motor mount fits tight! You will love the plane?!!!!
