I guess everyone will have their preference. Just remember though that nobody outside of the netherlands would have heard of young emma if Barbara Pravi had not sat down one day at the piano and written this song. Songwriters are usually in the shadows while the players get all the plaudits. This is a beautiful, powerful, tormented, desperate song which is all about being human and just wanting people to acknowledge them I love both interpretations and i am grateful that this song was written

This is the original artist btw, and this song was the runner-up in Eurovision 2021. You should see Barbara Pravi sing her heart out in the Eurovision perfomances.

Not a fair comparison per se. Emma is Dutch, only 15 yo with a serious medical condition versus Barbara who’s French, healthy and older ! Surely has had more practice and experience, each one touches a listener’s heart differently !

Barbara Pravi's version is beautiful and intense because she is the author and she is an adult woman but Emma's version in Maastricht 2023, with the large orchestra and choir is wonderful and next level! Emma is exceptional, she enchants the audience and transmits emotion to everyone, she is young but she has already felt pain in life, she is small but she stands on stage like a giant! The enthusiasm and applause of the Maastricht orchestra and choir testifies to this. However, tastes are personal and they are all valid.

Chanson magnifiquement interprétée ! Mais Emma kok fait passer l'émotion et la profondeur avec sa voix chaleureuse ! Bravo à toutes les deux d'avoir incarné cette chanson !

I am not french but I don't understand at all how the "warm" voice of a 15 y/o girl convey the pains of an adult to be recognized in this harsh world. I've heard both versions but the body language of this woman clearly resonates with the supposed lyrics of the song unlike the other girl

J'en ai la chaire de poule. On ne peut que vous comparer à Piaf Ferré Brel. Pas en dessous. J'adore les autres titres de l'album et j'ai hâte que vous passiez à Clermont Ferrand ou alentour. I think I do as well but it’s pretty close, I think this version I got more desperation in her voice from what she’s singing about but still being strong and Emma’s I felt more sadness, they are interpreted differently so I think it’s fine to prefer one over the other
