    Nice review. I have the older Voigtlander f1.8 21mm and as you have found it’s too big and wide for my M mount cameras. I have used the lens only a few times. What I’m looking forward to is your review of the Artisans f0.95 as I have an S1R as well. I really love the camera and with the f0.95 focus will be more precise and would balance well on my S1R. Can’t wait to see your video on that lens

    Hi David, the TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 review may have to wait a while as I live in Auckland and we have just gone to level 3 lock down for 12 days 😢. You can check out my quick review on lens I did a couple of weeks ago.

    Thanks for a great review! I would enjoy that lens as my of my favourite lenses to use is a 10-20mm ultra wide on a crop frame dslr so a 21mm quality full frame lens on a full frame Leica would fit my style well! Have a good weekend!

    @@DarrylCareyThings are well thanks, I live in the sane country of Sweden that despite constantly being called a looser, our numbers are very good and we can live our lives thanks to leaders that actually care about us! Having 10mm focal length is lovely as I get SO much in my frame and I get to accept that my city is cluttered and full of stuff that used to bother me! I set the lens to a certain distance and just shoot away without having to think about if my subject is in focus!

    this is an awesome lens. if used in an M camera, best to use a grip. EVF is almost a must. Fits best in an SL, Pana, or Canon EOS-R. The most unique images are taken at 1.4 and at a distance of 1m and nearer. This is an ideal lens to take on dark restaurant dinners or portraits in tight spaces. Clean and crisp rendering with beautiful bokeh.

    Hi Ian, the bokeh on the 21mm is really nice and does add something special to the images. I think the lens works better on the larger L-Mount cameras.

    Thanks for the review. I have to agree, extremely large for the M system. I personally use the grip on my M10P and also on my Fuji XT3.... A question I’ve been asking myself for a while now. Why hasn’t anyone (Leica,Zeiss,Voigtlander) made an F2 lens wider than 28mm? for the M System. I think it would balance weight and price quite nicely whist also offering a Fast wide angle Prime.

  • @DarrylCarey

    @DarrylCarey

    21mm f/2 would be awesome and much smaller than this lens. Never used the grip on the M10-P, does it make a big difference?

  • @jasonwilkinson8755

    @jasonwilkinson8755

    Darryl Carey yes the grip definitely makes a difference. The other plus point is that it preserves the original bottom plate on the M10P. My bottom plate is now sat in the box with the original sticker on it and without any scratches or marks. I can pop that back on in the future when I eventually go to sell/upgrade.

    Funny, I've been looking at this lens' reviews over the last couple of days. I'm fine with shooting the Nokton 35mm f1.4 v1 on the M9, so maybe I'd be okay with the weight and size of this lens.

    Viewfinder blockage is surely not relevant?? there is no 21mm frame lines on a leica m so you would either use an external finder or an EVF.

    Sad to hear about the strong vignette... But tbh you can remove the vignette in post just like you do in Lightroom. Just need to know Davinci Resolve basics I think... I always add vignette to my videos... But sad to hear you are "forced" to deal with vignette here.

    I'm not a fan of these mondo lenses on M bodies either, the balance is way off. I have the TTartisan 21 and that's as big as I'm willing to go, it's about the size of the 21mm Summicron. I'd like to see more Cron competition rather than ultra fast/large lenses.

  • @stephenedmunds207
    @stephenedmunds2073 жыл бұрын

    The leica summilux f1.4 is bigger,for a very fast lens this lens is not so big,,if you do not need a fast 21mm lens then get something slower and smaller. I love my m262 but my hands are fairly big and i quite like bigger lenses. Its all relative because the set up will still be very small compared to SLR cameras - lenses,especially with fast lenses.
