On Thursday, April 25, 2024, artists Sigurður Ámundason, Ragna Bley, Sara-Vide Ericson, Timimie Märak, and Lea Porsager with Curator-at-Large, Curator of the Nordic Art & Culture Initiative Helga Christoffersen led a conversation about the exhibition, "After the Sun-Forecasts from the North."
"After the Sun-Forecasts from the North" surveys a generational response to the precarious state of our natural environment. Historically, art from the Nordic region has been closely tied to depictions of nature. It is no surprise, then, that a diverse group of artists with strong ties to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden considers how climate emergencies on a Northern latitude reverberate globally and questions what it means to depict landscape today. Presented on the first floor of the Jeffrey E. Gundlach Building and outdoors on the Buffalo AKG campus, this is the inaugural exhibition of the Buffalo AKG Nordic Art and Culture Initiative.
