VoicePlay "The Little Mermaid - MEDLEY (ft. Rachel Potter) REACTION & ANALYSIS by Vocal Coach

I have been waiting for this for so long. One of Disney's classics, and top of my animated musicals, VoicePlay covers all the greats from The Little Mermaid in true a cappella fashion. I knew this was going to blow my mind and love every minute of it, just not to this scale!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to VoicePlay for the first time, performing "The Little Mermaid - Medley” featuring Rachel Potter.
Major kudos to Layne Stein for this awesome arrangement!

A piece of art is really just a bunch of really small ideas all added up, and it's amazing when someone breaks it down in such a positive and thought-out way!

I think my favorite part of Eli "seagulling with confidence" was the sideways glances that Layne and Geoff give to "offscreen seagull Eli".

Fun fact: the purple glow in Geoff's eyes was not edited in, he just forgor to mute his spell and they decided to leave it in. I'm fairly confident mans is an actual dark sorcerer who steals people's voices. He goes and talks to Tim Foust and then his bass range suddenly expands like 1.5 octaves. He hangs around female singers and hits a D5. Coincidence? I think not. The funny thing is, why would Ursula need Ariel's voice if she already had a range like that? Mans could probably do the entire voice stealing motif instead of Rachel and no one would notice

“It takes a confident man to seagull.” I don’t know how, but somehow I am going to use that in a conversation someday. As often as possible, actually.

Anyone else wondering why Elizabeth didn't mention Geoff's insane slide?

Elizabeth talks so.. carefully and measured compared to a lot of youtubers. It's a great thing, I'm normally used to KZreadrs that go "HEYYYYY WHAT'S UP GUYS ITS YA BOI KFDJLFKJAKDLKA" and that gets a little annoying sometimes.

I love how when Jay sings the bassy "Sing it wit' me now!" at the end, Geoff looks back at him with shifty eyes like, "Did you just...?"

I like watching videos of people reacting to songs and musical arrangements. But I think the reason why I enjoy watching this channel more than the other vocal coach reactions is that you seem genuinely happy and excited when you watch those clips. As I watch you react, sometimes it feels like I'm watching a child opening a Christmas present, joyful and pure and I think it's AWESOME to have that real positivity in your videos !

J mimicking Geoff's "sing it with me now" and Geoff's subsequent "whut?" face gives me the giggles every time (during the last belt by rachel)

Elizabeth always reacts like a kid on Christmas morning who just got her favorite present. If there were more people like her, the world would be a lot happier (I know I would be). Love her!

Not gonna lie. I nearly screamed when she paused before Geoff's wail at the end of "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Great analysis as always though. Love the depth from your videos.

It makes sense for Rachel to sing the later Ursula version because, by that point, Ursula has stolen Ariel's voice.

I loved Layne in this one. His vocal percussion is so creative. Then you've got the chef - is he really safe to be left in the kitchen with knives around? We don't get to hear it much in VoicePlay, but he's got a wonderful singing voice.

J is such a fun noodle of a human being. He's definitely taken the role of the goofy child of the group (to Mom and Dad Geoff and Layne, and older brother Eli XD), and he's just so full of fun energy and silliness. Its nearly impossible to not smile while watching him
