I'm so glad their original collaborator couldn't make it. I just couldn't imagine this song without Eli doing the highs. Totally epic. His lighting has really gotten to be top notch

First comment! This was my favorite song before "Valhalla Calling" came out. I actually sleep to this song on repeat. Last year, Jan-Nov, according to Spotify, I listened to it over 43,500 times. And I still listen every night. It's soothing to me, and has a "rocking" (like a chair, not the music) feeling to it. But it's definitely one of their best. I love Jose too, he's a loveable rogue! 💙

Don't fret about the sword, Jose makes up for it in Drunken Sailor. It's not that we hadn't heard Eli's rocking beast mode before, but the manic intensity in his face and voice made it out of this world. Reactors were dropping like flies over this one.

I have said this on a different video, but thank you for doing these! I knew Layne was good, but you are giving me the framework to understand just how good. Also, I get to watch "for the first time" again through your eyes.

Layne has been beatboxing professionally since 2003 so he's gotten very good at it. He does a lot of different techniques and sounds that are unusual or hard for others to do. In their Christmas video "Chipmunk Song/Don't Be Late For Christmas" he did sleigh bells. In "Enemy" he did a very cool inhale note. In Grimm Grinning Ghosts" he did a really amazing chirping type sound. They're all extremely good at voice acting as well. Especially Eli.

Fun background fact: Jose and Cesar went to school together and appeared in high school theatrical productions together. In the behind-the-scenes Cesar was so excited to see his old friend that he went a little bit crazy. Originally Anthony was slotted for this piece but he couldn’t make it out because of Covid travel restrictions. Jose was already home since they closed the production of Hamilton that he was in in Chicago so was able to help out. To me he fits the pirate vibe so much better. I love Anthony’s voice but Jose really clinched it in this. Plus we got to hear Eli do the high tenor part which really called for that rock grit of his.

Yeah, Eli ended up learning the feature part because Jose wasn't comfortable with it, so he took Eli's part. As wonderful as Anthony is, I think this wouldn't have been quite as epic without Eli's rock god top end vocals! Which is also why this is pretty much the only Voiceplay feature arrangement where the featured artist doesn't have much solo work, because he stepped in last minute and took Eli's part!

This was the first VoicePlay video I saw nearly 3 yrs ago. I was hooked. It is still high on my list. Watch The Charismatic Voice interviewing Layne and his beatboxing in Classical Chaos. He's shows all the voices (since he was the one who did the arrangements) and the incredible different layers of his beatboxing. I know you will love it.

Eli channeling his "inner pirate/viking" is always a treat 🤩 About Geoff and his range there's nothing to say, he's just a beast 😅 Some think he's even not human 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ And because of your videos about the beatbox, I appreciate Layne's crazy percussion and "weird noises" even more🎉 They're all soooo talented ❤❤❤

Definitely a top favourite of mine. I'm not sure what you were saying about copyright strikes but VP never do that. Being independent of any company they pay all the copyrights on what they cover, up front, so it's taken care of before it's released. Geoff has said that on Boy Bands in 5 Minuttes they had to pay so many groups royalties that they've never made a cent on that video. I'd like to see you use the sharp side of the sword on your own neck, How would you do that?

It must be the county you're in that makes you cover VoicePlay videos. None of my other reactors that I have watched for years do. VoicePlay is independent and not owned. They have total control over their content. If you don't know. VoicePlay also gets the view count of their videos on your channel. Got that information from Geoff.

Add to that, he would have had to grip the sword in an entirely incorrect hold around the pommel to get the other side of the blade to his neck. Presumably, that is a bit of a 'safety feature' that only the side of the sword that is 'away' from you can cut.

Back when I was in high school, it seemed very important to choose sides; you were either a fan of N'SYNC or Backstreet Boys. With age I realize I don't have to choose. I can like all the things I want and it doesn't diminish the others. Pentatonix and Voiceplay (and Homefree even) are very different groups, with different approaches to music. I can like them all without putting down the others. I simply gravitate to Voiceplay most often because the world is very serious right now, and I could use a whole lot of silly in life to take my mind off of it at times. They are all fantastic groups.

@@maskedmallard537 I think Home Free is awesome and I think Pentatonix is awesome but that also means there are groups I don't like. Not everyone needs to get a trophy all the time. I don't disparage other people from liking what I think is a 3rd rate pretty average sounding group. I never picked one or the other when it came to NSYNC or Backstreet boys because they are both equally talented. This is all just my opinion so in the grand scheme of things I guess none of it really matters
