I swear to god, i ve seen almost no REAL kpop "reviews" because youtubers are scared of the fans BUT you re SO real and that s great, it s really eye opening. It helps us remember that idols are not perfect, they re human too and they do make mistakes sometimes. Also the tehnical level of your comments is out of this world. I know people prefer different songs they have done on immortal song, but I would love for Sam to react to each and hear his opinion on them :)

Their harmonies are amazing. Has been since they debuted. It helps that the 4 of them are very close off the stage. 2 of them (Hwasa, the girl that started the song and Wheein, the girl with the red hat) have even been best friends since middle school.

I don't know if these girls have their own vocal coaches, but they always sound amazing. Seriously, I've yet to see a bad live performance by them.

Sam Johnson Agree. They never talk about their ongoing vocal training but if you watch videos from different times in their career I think you see the result of good training and tons of hard work. Imo Solar had to use a lot of effort in her belting on Passion Flower and other performances from a couple years ago whereas now she has easy power without straining and Hwasa went from that breathy r&b style as her main strength to becoming a vocal gymnast with a more varied and interesting toolbox. Hwasa manipulated sound in Paint Me, which was released in January, in ways I don't think she could have in 2015 when they performed Passion Flower. Paint Me is an unusual ballad that you might find an interesting song to discuss for vocal technique. Btw, Mamamoo is more involved on the creative side than most kpop groups and I believe they do the vocal arrangements themselves or in collaboration with their main producer.

I want to add that they do around a huge amount of their own choreography on stage and this is important because they try to create choreography that is visually striking but that won’t affect their vocal performance and when they first start using new choreography for a new song they’re performing they will even edit choreography for further live performances if they find it impedes their vocal performances

LaylaT6 Thanks. I know it's true about the choreography but it made me laugh thinking about Starry Night. I don't know how Hwasa manages to keep the mic in front of her mouth while rotating her arms. lol. They're one of the few groups that uses hand mics exclusively, which affects the dance of course. Rookie group Khan is another, btw, which is kind of interesting because like Mamamoo they also pride themselves on never lip synching and like Mamamoo they have a rep for striking choreo from their old group The Ark.

Like Solar kind of regret for not trainin since childhood her singing (She was scouted around their 19 years old with little to basic vocal training), or Hwasa mention of taking good care of her health (health as a whole body-mind-vocal) and Moonbyul posting about "I'll keep improvement for moomoos" (She is already a good rapper so obviously she's talking about her vocal improving). They never speak clearly because is a given what they mean and performances prove it 😅😅

Oh yay, you did Mamamoo again! I honestly believe they're the best (and sassiest) vocalists in Kpop, so keep 'em coming! (By the way, my favorite Immortal Songs performance from them is Road to Sampo, so I hope you'll react to that someday. It's one of their most nuanced yet powerful song choices, and I really think you'll like it.)

Not sure if this has been done but here goes: The breathy singer at the beginning is Hwasa. She is the best at singing in an emotional or sexy type of way. The one in the red hat is Wheein. She is the best in a technical aspect. The long haired one with a powerful voice is Solar. She has the most range and raw power. The rapper is Moonbyul. Her voice is lower and subsequently adds depth to their harmonies. She also entered the company as a singer and switch to rap later. Which means she has a foundation as a vocalist and provides more of a melodic quality to her rapping. She also sings much more now. Aside from a bunch of information on their personalities and whatnot (which may or may not be interesting so I will skip it) is to let you know they are highly sought after for their live performances. The 2nd most requested act year in and year out for university festivals (and they do a ton dozens a year). Their stage presence was exactly the same since their debut. They are the perfect example of hard work, raw talent, and proper nourishment to form a group that is unparalleled (I would argue not just in Korea either). Thanks you for your time. It is nice to see evaluations from a professional.

yeah, i find the fact that they literally debuted with the sort of seasoned stage charisma and tight group chemistry which they're pretty much renowned for now incredibly fascinating. they have a solid foundation, yet the improvement theyve been making, refining of artistry are still significant and visible, which means they're steadily on their way to being stellar, and they have so much more to wow the world with. i love mamamoo

THE WAY TO SAMPO

As an aspiring singer your videos are so so appreciated, the way you speak about the voice reminds me heavily of my singing teacher so it's like i'm in a lesson with her, so thank you so much!

He's describing each of Mamamoo's voices so accurately! It's really easy to differentiate their voices, Solar has a higher yet round voice and really has her own accent to it, Hwasa is more of a breathy and seductive kind of voice, the kind that really needs proper breathing technique and the right way of opening your jaw to get that effect she has, Wheein's voice feels very clean, clear and a more lighter vibe to it yet she carries a tone strongly. Moonbyul has a wonderful lower register that just makes her standout from the rest yet she doesn't sound like she's mumbling her words which is something that I really like. This was way back in 2014 or 2015 if I'm not mistaken, and they have definitely grown both as musician and singers. It's great development that I think would excite any vocal teachers or coaches

#MAMAMOO is a superior girl group with hell amount of talents n appealing personalities. Hoping to see more reactions to them in near future.

Their singing and rapping is obviously amazing, but I also feel that all members of Mamamoo must have a very good rhythmic sense. It doesn't matter how many tempo changes, a capella parts or syncopations happens, they never lose their timing.
