She was born on June 2, 1996 at Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭. Discovering her wonderful singing talent at the age of 3, and from that, her father was her "teacher" through her growth. Her family moved to Manila to show everyone her magnificent talent. Joined many singing competitions and the most famous one is The Voice Philippines 🇵🇭 but she did not win in any of that. But still, she still kept going after that and eventually she got her title "Asia's Phoenix🌏🔥🦅" after performing at the Asia's Song Festival 2017 in South Korea🇰🇷. Despite her wonderful diva-levelled talent, she also has the personality of an angel. She is sweet, kind, bubbly, funny, loves to interact with fans, and any more positive adjectives I can think of. Yes, that is a pet peeve of mine. Reactors cut off the ends of the videos and then they are missing information that everybody else has. For instance, one video especially that I get annoyed with reactors for cutting off the most is BuDaKhel and Katrina Velarde covering 'One Sweet Day'. Once the screen goes Black, SO MANY reactors just stop the video there and then they have questions about just who these people are... All they had to do was let the video play out. So ANNOYING to me! That's not the only video like that, either. The single greatest 'outro' for a video ever on KZread is for Frog Leap Studio's version of Toto's song 'Africa'. It's a LONG outro for GREAT reason but I have seen reactors stop the video. Most of them REALLY regret it later, though! One reactor's comments section actually bullied them into finishing the video with a second reaction! lol. I keep asking reactors WHY they stop early and NOBODY has answered me yet!

Btw...in the part when she belted in the E5, she had a melodic riffing line that lasted for 15 seconds...and she did another whistle tone at the end of the video. Morri is Filipino. You have just put your foot inside the door of the hall of Filipino singing talents. Morri is but one of the divas of the original Pilipino music (OPM) world. Thank you, teacher Rene, for your awesome reaction to Morisette's performance of "Akin Ka Na Lang" on the Wish Bus. This happens to be my most favorite Mori performance. And you are becoming one of my favorite reactors to her. This was actually live, no auto-tune, and with a live audience, they were just outside the bus. If you would watch from the very beginnning of the video, you will see the bus and the people around it. There is a fan cam video of this. I will send the link to you. This song is what made Morissette famous around the world, it's her original, written by Francis Salazar specifically for her, as his entry to a contest in 2014. In this song, Mori was able to showcase her arsenal of talent in singing, from her beautiful voice, the different colors and texture, sounding like a Disney princess at first, and a powerhouse diva at the second half, plus the squeaks and growls, and the dynamics and story-telling ability to draw us in and stay mesmerized and in awe at her, and that ever-present gorgeous smile, you can readily tell she is beautiful inside and out. 🥰 It's not enough just to hear from others, like us fans and supporters, how good she is, you have to experience it yourself to see and believe. And now you did. So glad to see your genuine reactions to her, you even got teary-eyed and ecstatic. Now, you are more motivated to go deeper into the Mori-wormhole and discover more of her and be amazed and at the same time enjoy this magical journey.🥰 Just one letdown in this RV is you did not finish the video, you've missed something.. you need to finish every video until you see the outro. 😊

Of all the many reactors to Morissette I've seen, you have the most sincere appreciation of her amazing talent combined with technical knowledge of what she's doing. She truly is a wonder to behold. No doubt you'll experience many of her other great performances, but two which are at extreme ends of her range are the live band version of Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw, where she does all out belting with a very interesting staccato effect song, and the Sunset version of Love You Still, a beautifully soft, intimate song written by her and her husband about her estranged father, where she breaks down and cries at the end. Another beautiful performance which shows off her ability to intertwine with another great singer in a duet is You Are the Reason with Daryl Ong.

Hi Rene, thank you so much for your wonderful, heartfelt reactions to Morissette! I wanted to share some info about her since you've been so interested in her thus far. Apologies in advance for the length 😊🙏🏻 Morissette is 26 years old. She was 21 in this video and 22 in the Never Enough video. Her father was a rock singer and her original musical influence. Her first name is actually Johanne and her middle name is Morissette, having been named after Johann Sebastian Bach and Alanis Morissette (clearly a music-loving family!). One of the signatures of her voice is her use of grit/distortion/intentional vocal breaks, and I think this is her father's influence showing 🙂 She also had a bit of musical theatre training when she was on the Philippines' version of Camp Rock, and even though her main genre is pop, she does gorgeous renditions of music from other genres (including musical theatre) while staying true to her signature sound. She is incredibly resilient. When she was 11, she had surgery for a throat tumor and was terrified she may never sing again. Thankfully, that didn't happen! She did a number of singing competitions while growing up, including The Voice Philippines, but kept falling short of the very top. (As a longtime musician who lives in the US and isn't Filipino but has followed Filipino music for 30+ years, in my opinion this is because her voice and singing style are different than what is typically popular there. Lots of fans are obsessed with belting with as much power and ornamentation as possible). She will readily admit this became so discouraging that she almost decided to throw in the towel and give up on her dream. But her stint on The Voice opened doors with people who couldn't deny her talent, and she signed a record and TV deal with the largest network. Ironically, she became a member of a four-person group called the Birit ("belting") Queens on that network's weekly singing show. She can belt with the best of them, but her style leans more toward elegance than sheer, unadulterated power (her former groupmate Jona has a very similar style). In fact, when her initial contract ended about three years ago and she became an independent artist, she made a deliberate shift away from the "birit" style of singing. She also deliberately shifted away from using her whistle register so much, even though it's an ability she's always naturally had, largely because she didn't want to be pigeonholed as "that singer who can do whistle tones." I came across her by sheer dumb luck several years ago. Her voice immediately drew me in and sent me down a rabbithole. I was delighted to discover that the more I watched and listened to, the more impressed I was. For me, she really has it all - rock solid technique, stunning technical prowess, a voice that is both distinct AND known for its sheer beauty, an innate gift for musicality, magnetic stage presence, staggering versatility. In addition to her recent appearances with David Foster, where he gave her very high praise, at one point Mariah Carey's former producer Rhett Lawrence was trying to sign her to Capitol Records, called her talent "unparalleled" and said he thought she could be bigger than Mariah and the other stars he's worked with. Unfortunately, the pandemic got in the way of those plans and then she decided to get married and stay in the Philippines...que sera sera. (Here is an interview with Rhett, in case you're interested: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nX1sp5qEgrycY9o.html ) At any rate, I am so happy you discovered her and encourage you to please continue exploring all she has to offer. She is absolutely the real deal and for me, one of the best singers I've heard anywhere.

There is a live audience outside the bus watching and listening while this was being broadcast live on air. So, nothing is pre-recorded or “fixed up” as each artist are to perform in one take while being broadcasted. 10:24 She didn’t write this song but was written for her to sing which makes her the original singer. She had written some songs along with her husband, which I’m sure you will eventually get to react to.

one thing that Wish Bus prides itself is that every performance done on the bus is always presented live. The beginning part shows that there a big crowd audience gathered to listen to her singing. Wish Bus is not a recording studio but mainly but a roving radio station.

you guys really want a proof of what’s really happening in wish bus is a legit live?, well try to check an ambush duet happened when on that time the performer used to be Arnel Pineda ( Filipino, who became the lead vocalist of the band Journey). He met Mori and the cast made them to do a duet with the song of Barbara Streisand “ i finally found someone”, focuse on them not even know the lyrics and they only followed it on their phones. thanks guys…✌️🇵🇭

You started strongly with Never Enough. I hope you keep reacting to Morissette as I welcome a new knowledgeable contributor. As the comments here already show, fans of Morissette are a little protective. But you're learning quickly. The Wish Bus is always live. Elsewhere, unless it's a music video, Morissette will also be singing live. Sometimes with a little reverb but that's it. It's not "fixed up". That's one reason so many of us recommended Akin Ka Na Lang. Because she sounds perfect to us and it's completely live. Pulls out two whistle tones, a couple of squeaks, and goes about 18 seconds without taking a breath. As for ending it too soon, at least now you know to be careful. I suggested She Used To Be Mine in the comments on your Never Enough reaction. Fair enough that you can't keep up with all the comments though. Here are my suggestions again. Whenever I post links my comments get blocked so these are pointers to performances. Her five part live digital concert, Phoenix, on her channel. Not many reactors have done it, that I can find anyway. The five parts are approximately 15-20 minutes each so it'll be quite a commitment to react to it all even over time. But it's well worth the effort. Again, she sang them all live. This Is Me and I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing. The versions on Marlon Aldenese's channel where she's wearing green. Live at a corporate event. She never just goes through the motions, no matter the venue or audience. Love On Top - On Bamboo Rocks Davao on Amay Amon's channel. There are about 300 performances there including Bohemian Rhapsody, Motown Medley from Lugana, Single Ladies on Samuel Lawrence DOD, And I am Telling You at MADE Cebu finale, Zombie, Bang Bang and More in Harana Concert, Halik by Aegis Christmas 2010 (14 year old Mori at home working on perfecting her stagecraft). All live. Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw. Some will say watch the Wish Bus version. I suggest the live band version on her channel. A third version is worth watching too. Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw live at Social House. Even when you don't know what she's saying, her rapport with the crowd is obvious. 1 hour 6 minutes mark of the concert on her channel. They're all great. None have subtitles. If you pick the live band version then please watch it until the credits appear. In the Wish Bus version she moves away from the microphone and the volume dips. Not fixed up as it goes out live. Also on her channel: Love You Still (Sunset Version). The five songs from her Signature EP being live band versions of Love You Still, Mirror, Will You Stay, Phoenix, and Trophy (the videos with masked band members). Bruno Mars Evolution Medley. It's live and was all one take. 2017 Asia Song Festival. Two songs with her talking between them. She doesn't talk for long but you get a sense of her personality so watch it all. Completely live with some reverb but not touched up. Shay's channel. MYX Global channel live performances: Stone Cold, I Want To Know What Love Is. There's more too. Panaginip Live at Robinsons Galleria Dec 8, 2018. The AmhaeZing Channel. And then there are her live duets: Wish Bus - I Finally Found Someone with Arnel Pineda, A Whole New World with Darren Espanto. Off the bus: You Are The Reason with Daryl Ong on his channel. Chandelier with Darren Espanto on Wish 107.5 Music Awards SitzProbe channel (decent fancam. Was an official version but can't find it now), Secret Love Song with Marcelito Pomoy at 2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards on Morissette HD Uploads. May be a good idea to watch Marcelito's live Wish Bus performance of The Prayer first. Live at a wedding reception: Halo on Christian Bautista's channel. May be interesting if you watch the music video version of Phoenix and compare it to the live Wish Bus version in the one reaction video. Lastly, I note your Broadway experience so suggest Defying Gravity on Stages Sessions channel. Singing starts at 2 minutes 38 seconds. Same channel has She Used To Be Mine, Home, Memory and more. That's a few to keep you going.

Ok....Morri did musical theatre when she was starting out so she sort of knows the setup. Please watch her perform "Defying Gravity". She performed it inside her residence in July 2020 during the pandemic lockdown. The KZread title is: "Morissette - Defying Gravity (an Idina Menzel cover) Live on Stages Sessions". Mori is the queen of vocal breaks(cries, squeaks, growls, and whistles). Unlike others, her breaks flow smoothly in context. Never forced; always adding, never disrupting. At the beginning of covid she did a live stream concert from home with five Broadway standards; including "She Used to Be Mine" and ending with "Defying Gravity". If you can, do yourself a favor, and listen to the whole thing. Like all Filipinas, she handles all genres with ease. I love Idina, but Mori is better. After this, you'll be bombarded with requests for other vocalists, including; Katrina Velarde, Gigi De Lana, and the incomparable Lea Salonga(who as a judge on The Voice Philippines, did not turn for Mori's audition).

Besides being one of the top-tier vocalists worldwide, she is a fantastic performer - expressive, passionate, captivating, completely engaged. She's been performing over 10 years, so many of our suggestions will be a few years old. Her video catalog is HUGE and almost entirely live, with some having better audio than others, but SHE is consistently excellent. She has done mostly covers of every genre, with the exception of some recent original material. I see you teach Broadway singers, so I recommend Mori's Stages Sessions Broadway favorites (in red top) done during lock down.

Great reaction to Akin Ka Na Lang. This is my fav Morisette performance, even though it is in the studio and I don't speak Tagalog. I sometimes find that singing in a studio frees up some performers to focus solely on their vocals, and I think this is one example. Really like the enthusiasm that you show for great performances and performers. Speaking of generational talents, If you aren't already familiar with him, I think a reaction/analysis of a Dimash Kudaibergen song might be worthwhile. Maybe, Stranger, one of his best and in English. Another unprecedented talent. Another suggestion is a reaction mainstay and an incredibly popular performance, at nearly a billion views, Disturbed's now classic cover of The Sound of Silence. Video or Live on Conan O'Brien.

Hi Rene - Great reaction to Morissette Only Morissette able bodied multiple voice range can make an audience jaw-dropped with awe. She has the ability to radiate even to the depth of the lowest alto E flat range register and has that incredible voice to modulate into a mezzo-soprano and further belting up to the high and soul piercing soprano peak power output and can reach the 7th diatonic octave of her powerful and fantastic anatomical whistle tone resonance! If you want to be amazed more and more likes try reacting to her singing prowess. In the You Tube Search just type the song titles of Morissette listed as follows: 1. Rise up (both on wishbus & acapella version) 2. Phoenix - her original song & title. 3. I want to know what love is 4. Fly like a bird 5. Stone cold 6. Secret love song 7. Moonriver/usahay 8. BTW my family was in the music industry in the 60's to early 2000's famous singers would come to our studio like Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Kuh Ledesma so I pretty much am exposed and was in a couple of bands myself I know how to play all instruments and I can tell you Morisette has something above the rest. She is a Diamond among them all.
