I had expected Henk to pick Samantha for his duet. But of course Henk, being an old pro, knew exactly what he was doing. Emma has this soft sensual voice with a sort of nasal twang to it, that fits just perfectly for this song. And that big smile on his face as they approach the end of the song says it all. If she handles her career right , she can go anywhere. Her version of Floors "Strong" remains one of the high points of the whole show. She's a gifted performer with a great voice, and the fact that she's also stunningly beautiful doesn't hurt either. It would be hard for somebody this young not to be intimidated by the company she found herself in, but like Floor she seems to shake all nerves off as soon as she starts singing. I think i'm in love lol :)

And yes, of course Henk knew exactly what he was doing when he chose Emma. She was Made for this, and he knew it. And yes, I am impressed by Emma, she has really surprised me. Floor is the queen, but Emma for sure is the crown princess. She has the world at her feet.

The singers get all the lists with song choices 5 months before (Oct./Nov), rehearse in the Netherlands studio and perform in April on the spanish island of Ibiza where it is recorded/shot and aired in August. Bandleader Marcel Fisser (guitarist) might have much more to do with it then we will ever know!

This year they selected 7 singers that became very difficult to top,they become friends who where in awe of each other and have nothing else of respect for each other

I completely agree with you! Emma is a revelation in this season. Everybody who dont know that she has no big live performance experience would think she is a pro in front of big audiences for years. I think I dont have to talk about her voice and her singing skills which are just wonderful and I think it was a very nice gesture of Henk to choose her for this duet to appreciate her! I wish her the best of luck for her hopefully shiny future and thanx for your nice reaction!

I listened to Andrea sing this with several people yesterday - none affected me more than this one. They could make statues cry. We are lucky to be witnesses to a future international star emerging, taking her first steps to fame beyond KZread. Floor's looks to them said it all.

You have to listen Andrea Bocelli ft Giorgia, the original. The musicality of the language is important. My personal opinion

Didn't realize how perfect Emma's voice would be for this song until I heard the original duet with Andrea and Giorgia, Henk clearly knew what he was doing when he chose her as his partner for it.

I really think Emma Heesters & Rolf Sanchez - Pa Olvidarte deserves a reaction video as well. The chemistry shown in the song is just amazing.

Great I stumble upon this video..I am Dutch and I love this show The Best Singers’, I LOVED this song with Henk Poort and Emma Heesters!! Their voices, wow!! Love the deep low voice of Henk, this show is such a pleasure to watch and to listen to. It is a bunch a great great singers singing for each other and no showing off or a game element.., just singing their best and having fun with it with each other. Love to watch the show and always sad when it is over. I also loved the song Henk Poort did with Floor Jansen.. Vivo per lei is one of my favoriete sings so this was a treat and I often go back to listen to this on KZread, that is how I stumbled upon your account now today..! I will watch many more of your video’s! I love it how you would want to watch and react to a Dutch television show and you also think it is a great show with the best singers..❣️

What a wonderful combination. Henk is an old Bordeaux, deep and polished. Emma is strawberries and cream. Henk also did a wonderful job of giving Emma room to shine, and she seized the moment perfectly. What an amazing performance.

As an Italian speaker, they sure do have a good accent during singing for Dutch people! Let alone the singing itself!

@@jamescurfman3284 There are some pronuciacion mistakes occasionally, but it's normal. Henk has a better control over the language but the song was still good because this is actually a cover of the international version so Emma had some parts in English (the fully Italian version was more challenging because the Italian female singer, Giorgia, has longer parts all in Italian and she's very talented and it would've been very hard to cover)

Yes! They did a great job! Emma is such a talent and Henk took this song to another level in my opinion. Great reaction!

They paid a great deal of attention to dynamics while they had been preparing for the evening, it seems.

So nice to see Beste Zangers becoming known in the US because of reaction videos like this. I have seen the previous seasons of BZ as well and have to be honest that this season actually was the most amazing I think, chemistry and singing wise. However, I recommend the duet of Tania and Tommie (Barcelona) and the amazing rap of opera singer Maria Fiselier and the incredible synchronous singing of OG3NE and what they call "echoing".

oh yea, this is a classic...and they did it so well! it was a refreshing show, nice to see it doesn't always have to be fierce competition, but just appreciation of each others skills.

Every performance from this season of Beste Zangers was exceptional and worth watching again!!

Emma and Rolf singing Pa Olvidarte must be one of the most adorable things I've seen all year

I don't usually like Emma's style of singing, but she did really well here. And Henk blew me away, just like he always does.

This performance could have been in any of the huge concert halls there are on this planet. Emma for sure got my attention on this series (yes, she is cute, but I'm talking about her singing here). Maybe one of these artists can take her with them to some concerts and help her to build her live career. I mean, of course they don't owe her anything and every one of them has worked their butts off building their own careers, but I think they all were in awe about her voice. And stage presence too, as she is not used to perform in front of live audiences.

If you're checking out older Beste Zangers, I would recommend the O'G3NE performances from 2016. Their vocal harmonies are amazing, and what's also amazing is how they manage to work their trademark harmonies into any song, even ones that were originally written for a solo singer. They really take the songs to the next level.

For me the best performance of the entire show, but mainly because I've always liked this song a lot. Emma is awesome.Didn't know her before this show and didn't expect this of her.

You are amazing Valerie, the way you talk about music, community and love. A joy to listen to you. And I love the way Henk Poort looks at Emma, like a father who is encouraging his child, so kind. Beautiful voices, beautiful harmony, what is not to love?

Yeah, you reacted to Emma and Henk! I was one of those who said you should react to this one. I'm so glad you did!. I think Henk and Emma absolutely deserve to have their own spotlight. I personally can't decide which duet I prefer between Henk&Floor and Henk&Emma. They are equally fantastic in their own way. Luckily it's not a competition, we don't have to choose and can enjoy both performances as often as we want. I so much enjoy seeing Henk give room to Emma and Floor to shine. I have a feeling he really doesn't need to be the star and he gets the best out of his singing partners. And that voice, it's so full and rich and velvet to my ears. Emma,..... my god, she's got it all. She can dance, she has a fantastic voice, she's got the youth to have a long career and let's face it she's also easy on the eyes and that just helps. At the end of the song Emma says “dank je wel” because Henk was the one who pulled her out of her comfort zone, grabbed her voice by the scruff of the neck as it were, and got her to where she could perform this song.

Emma has a a contract with a label (from the U.S. I believe) and will have an album in the near future. So happy for her!

Can we all appreciate the fact that Henk is 63 and also notice how good the band is

This was a beautiful duet. I don't understand what they are saying, most of the time, Emma did sing some in English, but even though I don't understand it, I could not control my emotions. In addition to making covers for her own KZread channel, she has a recording contract and was the supporting act for the band Boyce Avenue in 2019. At the end of August 2019 she participated in the Dutch television program Beste Zangers. Henk, He is a baritone. He has a classical singing education at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Emma seems to be such a sweetheart and a very talented pop singer and her voice suits it so well. At least, that seems to be the genre she appears to be most comfortable singing in for now as far as I can say. I am interested in whether she will venture out of this genre in the future or not. Her approach to singing a duet seemed to be quite intuitive; although, I am sure that they rehearsed it a lot. That is still very different than doing it before cameras. Henk is such a solid performer. :-) Even when he sings softly, you know that the power is there somewhere - the resonance. You are right that he adapted his vocals a bit to work better with Emma´s voice. But I think it is also great that she got to duet with somebody who is self-confident enough not to dominate every performance. I mean, a duet is a collaboration, not a competition. It reminded me with its dynamic of the rendition of this song by Andrea Bocelli and Hayley Westenra a bit. Everyone on this show needed bravery. To be willing to sing songs outside your comfort zone in front of other artists must be so hard. In particular that applies when you sing a song normally performed by one of those artists.

It's an addiction that is hard to kick, isn't it Valerie? :D (no worries, you are NOT alone, far from it :) ) Our beloved uncle Henk... he's something else, who in their right mind, would not want to sing with him, anyone he accompanies in a duet, gets better than ever before. Henk gives everyone the comfort and confidence to reach for the stars, and with that they give us their very best performance they have in them. Emma, who is a really good singer on her own, sounded better than ever before, and so did Floor for that matter, you can see on both Floor, and Emma's faces that they are 110% involved, connected to Henk, feeding on his energy and loving every second of it. And Henk knows how to give them that energy, and he knows when to take a little step back to make the other shine, and when to step back to add more dimension, and i believe that comes down to Henk knowing the value of "less is more" better than anyone and he's a master at that skill. Oh sidenote, Beste Zangers is starting a online season this weekend, 7 different singers, mostly from the online community, get to do their own version of Beste Zangers. (All to be found on Avro/Tros) I've seen a few teasers, and while there is no Floor or Henk among them, i do think it there is great potential among the chosen singers, so it should turn out as a good online season. (yes we're being spoiled, more beste zangers! lol) I hope they will add English subs, because i believe they can reach an audience beyond the Netherlands now, so they need subs (cant expect Denise to do sub for all episodes to come hehehe, i hope she does, but am not expecting it.) Aaand.. i've written a book again.. i so suck at short replies lol Ty valerie for yet another fun react video :D (and yes, Rolf.. how lovely and fun is he, his joy and amazement is just some of the best i've ever seen :D) And as a Dutchie, i can tell the love is mutual :)

Having been a fan of Floor long before she joined Nightwish, I really want to thank Beste Zangers 2019 for featuring her on their program. Had they not done that I would have absolutely no knowledge of Henk, Emma and the rest. As far as Henk goes, consummate professional, able to stand on his own or to fit perfectly with whoever he is singing with. Emma is obviously a force to be reckoned with, don't let her humble beginnings fool you, she has not only natural talent but an astonishing instinct on how she approaches her singing. These 2 fit SO well together, this was not just a performance......it was magic!!!

Thanks for finally reacting to this. This was the best duet of the whole episode for me. Both shined equally, in spite of having totally different voices. They managed to blend very well. I actually like it better than the Phantom of the opera duet with floor, where I found her voice was a bit over powered by Henk's . I'm not sure if it was an equipment issue, or the way that she was shaping her vocal tract on some words, but she only really shined vocally during the ending high notes. Don't get me wrong, she was killing it the whole time performance wise! The duet with Henk and Emma was also just more touching, but of course it's a totally different type of song anyway.

henk is an opera performer who does not need a mike. emma is a youtuber just siging in a room. in some of emma's you tube she is the one creating the harmonies. her voice is soothing.....

@@Immortall1408 I don't know, he is born in Amsterdam, and onley when he was 26 years old he began his classical schooling, but had sang way before that as a non-proffesional but he stood out amongst the rest from wich I gathered. In Italy he has met Andrea Bocelli and it almost came to a collaberation. But Henks management wanted more money and didn't tell Henk untill he asked months later according to Henk himself. Music shows the soul: Henk is an incredible kind, giving, sensitive young man. :-) And Emma is doing fantastic. But when I watched Henk, this season, I fell in love or wanted him to be my (2nd) father: he confused me, intrigued me and I liked him so much! Well..., this maybe does not belong here. Henk song on Tim's show " Vincent ", the Dutch version from " stary stary night ". It's a beautiful translation in Dutch form Martine Bijl. To be honest I think the lyrics are better, but I'm Dutch. That's Wat Martine was great in ( she died last may) to capture the feeling the meaning of a song and not do a translation only from words. Henk sang I beautifully and the lyrics where translated by several viewers back to English. It looks like a complete different song ;-) Maby you could comment on that one? During this show I became a fan of your comments. So, in a lot of other way's people are connecting all over the world through this episode of Beste Zangers

She got me ultra curious ,the way i allways saw her in the couch,couldnt stop smiling whenever Floor especially performed. I didnt even know she was an Artist then ofc,but i had a hunch,as i have seen similar tv productions in my own country. But not exactly like this one....yet! And the Dutch artists i know from way back and until today,is: Anouk,Within Temptation,Floor Jansen in various bands and solo projects,and well....with a certain amount of shame.....even Vengaboys LOL. 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor,i believe Culture Beat and La Bounce was Dutch as well? 90s Euro dance hit machines all of them. But yeah,only Anouk,Floor,Sharon del Adel oooh and "Poison Ivy herself",Simone Simons from EPICA have left a really powerful impression on me over the years. And Emma won me over with "Strong",and after seeing this,i think i got a crush on both Floor and Emma😍💞 Im not sure i can take it haha! (I did never expect such a versatile voice on gorgeous Emma,and her "lower bass voice" is just out of this world,to listen to!)

It's funny to me, that everyone thinks Emma's KZread career isn't as good as everybodies else, just because she's singing covers at her house. She has 1 - 10 million views per video.That's 12 - 120 times more viewers, than Floor had at Wacken and 100 times more views, than Samantha Steenwijk has on her videos for example. Just let that sink in. One video of Emma alone is being watched by 120 Wacken audiences / football stadiums. I think that's plenty of success and maybe better of what she could do the traditional way.

There are not many shows that I look forward to every year but Beste Zangers is. The duet episode in the end is the cream on the season.. Miss would please react to all the duets everybody had 2 duets and Tim even 3!..

I also really liked Tommie singing a suriname song in the local dialect. And for sure: Caruso. Both in the show of 2017. There are gems in every year but I think the year of Tania Cross (I think it was 2017 and the show of this year were both top-notch. The chemistry between the singers was of course different but also fantastic. For the first time there was an opera singer (Tania Cross), Eddy Christiani, a schlager singer who finally had the chance to sing completely different songs (and really well), Maan who showed creative versatility from polka to opera (la Nessu Dorma), Anita Meyers just being very good, a suriname singer, Brace singing Ave Maria and of course the very versatile Tommie Christiani and the diva: Tania Cross.
