Hey you! Seems like there's an active discussion going on in the comment section about the meaning behind the lyrics of 'Let Go'. Some of you have pointed out that I might be misinformed and that it's just a theory that the song is about them considering to disband, especially since they don't seem to have taken part in the creative process of writing the lyrics to this song. I'm sorry if it sounded like I portrayed it as fact. It just seemed so fitting somehow. I think we can all agree that this is a beautiful song regardless, and the possibility of broad interpretation is probably what makes it so touching in a different way for each person who listens to it. It could be about having to let go of a loved one who just passed away or about a break up, or having to say goodbye to a close friend. Maybe sometimes we get too caught up in trying to interpret what the song meant for the members, when really it can mean a multitude of things to us. I personally feel like the lyrics really fit the end of a long-term relationship. But that's just me. I love hearing your opinions and thoughts and I love even more how everyone is kind and civil to each other while discussing theories in the comment section. 💜

I've seen a lot of people who think Tae shines because his voice gets even deeper in Japanese, and that makes him especially stand out among other tenor vocalists. I've also watched a lot of Japanese reactions to their Japanese songs and let me tell you, they LOVE Tae's Japanese prononciation. Some of them even say that they wouldn't understand it was sung by a Korean if they didn't know Tae. That's why in Japanese he definitely shines for a lot of people. Considering he was trending the highest on Twipple Japan because of his voice after Film Out release, I'm not wrong and I'm definitely not the only one who thinks so I guess.

I love V's voice as well. He was great in crystal snow tho. But here I think it doesnt suit specifically in Let Go I just dont feel the vibe but I agree Tae really do standout when it comes to Japanese songs. If I didnt know he's Korean Id probably think he's Japanese

So they've never given us a 100% full explanation as to specifics as to why they were going to quit back then, which is understandable. But from what we do know is things got really tough when they started truly blowing up big in the US in 2017 into 2018. It was around the beginning of 2018 that they started talking about quitting. Not because they didn't want to work together, but because of some of the hardships they were going through as BTS around that time. While no specifics, there are numerous obvious stresses we can assume contributed, like industry stress from both the West & Korea. The West didn't really accept them or was terribly kind to them. They were both better & worse back then, better because they were sometimes fake nice to them, assuming they were just a fad & would go away soon. And the Korean industry, & other music company's, had always treated BTS badly, but the more famous they get, the worse they are about it. So just that alone bombarding them all at once, on top of all the other bad things they'd had to endure from the industry & others already before they started blowing us in the US, I'm sure was a lot to handle, especially since it worsened quickly in a short time, more so than usual. The one thing nobody can say is that these boys didn't struggle hard, from day 1, to get to where they are. Hell, they still have to deal with a lot of the same bullshit now, just in different & more vicious ways, sometimes. They've definitely earned where they are now, every step of the way.

You've been misinformed about the writers. It was written by Hiro, Jun, Sunny Boy, & Uta. It was used as a theme song for a Japanese television show called The Moon and the Wolves. BTS DID discuss disbanding at the beginning of 2018, which is probably why it hits so hard. Jin dropped that bomb on all of us at the end of 2018 during an acceptance speech. According to a Vlive by Jimin, all of them were just going through burnout and struggling, but THANKFULLY they all got through it :)

For me I think that Jin has such a... fragile?? voice, it is the only word I can explain it. The way he sings sounds like he is one step from it breaking but it is solid and controlled especially his high notes!

This song was not about them breaking up like we thought but that was a theme of this album and LYS: Tear, Yoongi revealed in one of their docuseries that Outro: Tear was written during a time the time when they were considered breaking up. It the first part of 2018. They were reeling from their success in 2017 and felt their fame was undeserved, they were also exhausted too, and the members had a lot of issues going on in their personal and family lived. We know at one point Jungkook was bottling up his issues and not talking to the members too.

I totally agree. The lyrics are really about breaking up and letting go of each other. Though they didin't write this song, it really fits the mood and emotions of separation. And did anyone notice at the end of the song, Jungkook walks away in the opposite direction of the other members.

While it is technically just a theory that the song is about them breaking up, the lyrics are pretty specific about a break up. Also, to me, stereo to mono also seems to confirm that since stereo is multiple sound sources while mono, of course, is only one. The part that really confirms that it's about them breaking up to me is the choreo. I don't remember where I saw it, but I saw a clip of J-Hope saying that JK nearly left the group and that he was glad that JK had changed his mind and stayed. In the choreo, if you noticed, JK walks away from the others at the end of the song. The other song that several people have mentioned, Outro: Tear, is a rap line song that describes the pain and anguish of the break up that was missing in this song. Personally, I think that Outro: Tear is about how they felt when they first found out that someone wanted to leave while Let Go is more from that persons perspective, leaving because he feels he has to, not because he wants to or is happy about it. People say it's just a theory because the boys haven't outright confirmed it, but they didn't confirm the meaning behind the Spring Day video for years, either. In spite of that, they gave plenty of hints and clues, enough so that ARMY figured it out but it wasn't confirmed for around 3 years. Just because they haven't confirmed it doesn't mean it isn't true.

They didn't acknowledge the Spring Day theory because they would be speaking against the government and there was a lot of turmoil for years in S. Korea about the ferry disaster. So they waited until they felt it was the proper time to confirm it so you can't really compare the two situations. One was a national tragedy and this is not that. And since they (Suga) openly acknowledged Tear was about their talks of disbanding why wouldn't they do the same for Let Go? Finally, I find it really hard to believe they would do it in Japanese and not Korean.

@@viktoriatoth5809 I never said that they wrote it. "Dynamite" was changed based on feedback from the boys but they are not credited as writers. Jimin's song "Filter" was written according to what he wanted it to be about but, again, he's not credited as a writer. Just because they aren't credited as writers doesn't mean they didn't have any input, especially when the song is not in Korean. Also, this is my own thoughts on it. I'm just explaining why I believe it's about their near break-up. This is my opinion but, of course, you are entitled to your own.

@@bmb1824 Exactly and what I know, JK isn´t the only one who wanted to leave... RM went back to his home too, same J-Hope came back, because he trusted they can finally make it. The song is about Letting go your loved one, so it fits the concept of the album and the choreo is matching that... In this song every member is on their own in some parts of this choreo... JK sings as the last one, so I think it is reasonable, he will be the last one to be alone. And, yeah, they haven´t written this song, if they would, they would want to expres their feelings in korean, like Outro Tear. As we all know, you can interpret most of their songs in many ways.

V is the only Korean baritone singer to be listed in the world top 10 for baritone singer. Also RM and experts in the music industry said that V's voice is the key part of BTS vocal line.

im not 100% sure on this so everyone please take my comment with a grain of salt. i need to look up the song credits for their japanese discography especially the recent album may be different than the old ones since they may not be part of their old japanese label anymore. (they used to upload japanese music videos on universal japan but in 2020 they uploaded on bighit instead so that could also be a change in creative freedom for their japanes music) if im not wrong i dont think bts have much creative control in their japanese discography. the only one i know they did have some say was your eyes tell because it was meant to be part of jungkooks mixtape. but all the other ones the original songs not the remakes of their korean song. their original japanese songs i do not think they take part in the creative process. that being said we dont know if let go was meant to be a goodbye song thats just a theory. but my own personal theory is if they dont have any creative control for japanese songs maybe they are allowed to choose the song and they couldve chose let go because of how the lyrics matched their situation or asked the writers to convey their message. they have confirmed many times in 2018 that they were thinking of disbanding because this was when the hate was VERY bad and they were getting bigger globally and it was a lot of pressure. they also got mixed up in political discourse between korea and japan so it also couldve been bts last time in japan alone even if they didnt disband. like it got very dangerous for them to even go to japan. so yeah there was a lot happening in 2018 its one of the worst years bts and army had along with 2015-2016. every year had its ups and downs but those specific years were terrible. please react to the mistreatment of bts by affectaed to learn more about their hardships in detail. a song that is 100% confirmed to be about their thoughts of disbanding is Outro tear by the rap line please react to it. :)

I’m pretty sure they are a huge artist no matter where they are so they can dictate the mood of the song so it is fair to think they can dictate the mood of the songs and Japanese writers wrote the lyrics for them based on those ideas and feelings. It’s silly to think bts has no control over their songs. As an example dynamite they dictate the concept of the song which to convey the message of hope to fans so the writers wrote the lyrics to fit the concept

It's only a theory/rumour that this song is about them possibly breaking up. It hasn't been confirmed. It could be about breaking up from a relationship with a lover etc. It could also be about loss of someone passing away. We don't know x

They didn't write this song or participated in its production. Because their theme was Love Yourself: Tear, the carried a similar theme for their Japanese album as well. Because BTS is always so personal when it comes to their songs, I always check out the song credits to find out if they did write it. If you want to see them being emotional you should watch Outro:Tear which Suga wrote and produced during the time they were talking about breaking up. Hobi legit cries at the end of the live performance. No one know for sure why they were contemplating breaking up, as they were never explicit about it. I think it was just the extreme pressure of their jobs, and the realisation that they won't have a normal private life.

That break up everybody is talking about wasn't because of hardships. Yes, they had plenty of that but this particular one was for a different reason. Jin admitted in his speech at the 2018 MAMA that at the beginning of that year they were thinking about breaking up but they changed their minds in the end. And it had a very simple reason, their contract with BigHit ended later that year. I'm just guessing here but I think they thought they won't go any higher than where they were then, they were afraid of falling hard. At that time they had the Billboard Best Social Artist award which was unbelievable, they collected all major awards in Korea, they thought they really reached the top and the only way from there is down. Suga said the same thing when he admitted that after receiving the Billboard award he cried in the shower because he was afraid, he didn't know what more they could do from there point on and I'm guessing they all thought the same. So when the end of their contract was nearing they must have been talking about "ending it on the top" and disbanding. It must have been hard on them... And I'm so glad they decided to continue and sign another seven years with BigHit, they achieved so much more since then. There are many theories floating around but I think most of them a little bit over-romanticizing this whole thing, I think this is the most logical and reasonable explanation. Of course it still doesn't make it easier for the boys, it must have been an awful feeling.

I’m so grateful that they didn’t break up because, as a new ARMY, I would never have experienced the joy they bring. Jin and V have spoken about going through hard times more recently with Jin going to counselling and being advised by Bang PD to write a song to help him through. I hope it’s worked.

If you look up & watch their 2018 MAMA acceptance speech, that's where we were told the 1st time ever they had thought about quitting earlier that year. That was a hugely emotional time for the fandom then.

Just found your channel. BTS is BETTER live. Ive seen them live many times and I'm always blown away.

It seems at the beginning of end of 2017 and beginning of 2018 their increasing fame, the tough schedules, the final stages of the Wings tour (and the minor or big injuries they all suffered during that time) caught up with them. They were burnt out. 2018 funnily enough was the year where they acted the most free in front of cameras, as if they didn't bother with the strict rules of the Korean media anymore.

If I’m not mistaken in 2017- 2018 was the time for them to renew their contract so who knows what happened during that time. What we know they took a private vacation together probably to sort things out however it’s all speculation but the lyrics for this song and outro tear seems too closely related and Suga mentioned all of them were in tears when he played outro tear (maybe his part of the lyrics in the song) for the members. I feel this song like a goodbye to ARMY too and We need a cover for this song
