Vocal Coach Reacts To Whitney Houston - All The Man That I Need - Live - Ken Tamplin
Whitney Houston was in a whole other REALM.
She is cited as the most awarded female artist of all time by Guinness World Records and remains one of the best-selling music artists of all time with 200 million records sold worldwide.
Houston began singing in church as a child and became a background vocalist while in high school. With the guidance of Arista Records chairman Clive Davis, she signed to the label at the age of 19.
Her debut album is currently listed as one of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine and is on The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame's Definitive 200 list.
For me, it doesn’t get any better and I could only hope to contribute to singing by helping to elevate it to the level that the she brought to us.
Her performance today left me emotional and speechless. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Correction, she couldn't have "just walked out" because she is sweating. So I suspect she just came off a hard number, was covering the breath and then move into this song...

Sadly whitney was "sweating" a lot more than usual...while she was using. I dont know the dates here so I am not saying/ accusing her during this performance, but it is heartwrenching that drugs really took a toll on her body...hence her vocals. Even at her worst she was better than the best (*I am also a huge Christina Aguilera and Cher fan, maybe you could do a review on one of the?**)

I Am Changing was never recorded in the studio by Whitney but listen to her live version, especially the one she sang in San Antonio or New York...but here’s my final analysis, and the proof is in the voice...I Will Always Love You in the studio is a masterpiece, however live Whitney shined..she went out of the universe while singing this...

I urge you to check out what I consider not only Whitney's greatest live vocal, but quite possibly THE GREATEST LIVE VOCAL performance to EVER take place in human HISTORY. This is from a 1986 concert she gave at the tender age of 22. She unleashed an EPIC 10 minute rendition of the Dreamgirls song "I am changing" and it is absolutely ridiculous, unreal and trancedant! She takes her time in the beginning, but takes off like a rocketship around the 3 min mark. I was literally floored the first time I stumbled upon this never officially released audio recording. It is absolutely monumental in it's brilliance. It's like she's a lone (no background singers, just her amazing band) warrior, in a battle for supremacy against the entire world. I simply cannot imagine there is a live performance by any singer that comes close to this. I urge you to listen with headphones or very loudly on Blu tooth speakers. Don't use your phone speakers as it won't give you the full impact of what she does here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKqLxtCindTNlaQ.html

She is the worlds golden voice. Her voice can switch characters from innocent to angry to sultry and sexy to powerful monstrous that can tear the arena's roof off. She is the most mesmerising and fairy like performer I've ever heard 😍😍😍. First time hearing her voice in the radio we don't have television when I was 15 yrs old around 2009 2010 but I had goosebumps, she is singing I will always love you. I asked my cousin who is that girl singing , he said he does not know. I bet she's popular, that's it I looked for her songs and idolized her since then. 💕💕💕Her name is Whitney Houston. It's sad she passed way too early but her voice is timeless.9

For me she was the best female singer of my generation. Not just because of all the reasons you mentioned but because her voice was extreme pleasant to listen . I remember I was in Boston on April 86 . I had just arrived in the US . I listened to “ How will I know “ and immediately got deeply sucked in . One thing I had no idea is that a great performer also brings the band into another level . Thank you so much Ken for another great dissecting video. You rock 🤘

Flawless!! Perfection!! I too find myself tearing up listening to her sing. She had a voice that only God can give you & she always recognized that & gave thanks for being so blessed. Another woman in her league was Karen Carpenter. She always invoked so much emotion with her beautiful voice. She had that rare beautiful low register. I’d love to hear you review Superstar! purkabe12 I listen to Karen often and each time I’m so amazed at her beautiful voice. I read that most songs she did in one take! John Lennon was a fan too! I guess Karen was walking out of a restaurant in LA & John Lennon was walking in. He said “I want to tell you love, I think you have a fabulous voice”. I guess John didn’t give a lot of compliments & she just didn’t know if he was being kind or sincere! She had low self confidence which unfortunately aided in her demise. Whitney also had low self esteem......😥
