When she was young, she developed issues with her throat and was told she would never sing high notes again. In the Philippines something like that could crush your dreams. But KZ developed her own style so she could keep on singing. Yes, she is a powerful woman in my opinion.

She's a hybrid artist. She made songs her own. Who would do 5 genres in just one song Rnb Pop Reggae Rap Swag Amazing artist. She is absolutely far better than many Hollywood singer wanna-be's She is the queen of swag. Amazing stage presence. One of the most stunning LIVE performance ever! This version is actually better than Adele's. I'm pretty sure Adele will agree.

Yep, the Philippines has awesome and talented singers. Sadly, without support from big international music producers and recording companies, these awesome singers will just go the international route via performances on cruise ships, in night clubs, singing cover songs on KZread, or singing in special occasions during Filipino Independence Day celebrations abroad, and the like. Wish it weren't so. Our singers deserve better on the world stage that is dominated by U.S. and U.K. singers. Our singers can rap, belt, croon, and dance better than many of them. Mabuhay Ang Pilipinas (Long Live the Philippines)!!! 😄😘😁🇵🇭

Although to be fair, most of the time our singers are only meant for karaoke. Singers like KZ are rare who sings in her own style. Most of our local singers are on par with almost every good singer that we hear in karaoke... just that they have better looks which is why they’re more recognized. Those who really have unique voices like Charice did and Ms Lea Salonga will succeed internationally.

Being the best here in the Philippines is very ultimately hard... two obstacles... 1. Support from government or recognition... corruption or greed 2. Society's Toxicity... (this is why in PH auto tune even a little bit = auto kill of career) you literally have to pass all of that to standup... or else go overseas... which is also hard due to many people in Ph can't easily access that kind of travel...

KZ's rendition of rolling in the deep in this instance is almost theatrical. Here's my take on her performance which I believe has several creative layers: interpretation of the story in the song, melodic changes, vocal style, and stage presence. I want to share what I feel about how KZ interpreted the story. The creative decision to start with an acoustic guitar and then the utilization of the auto tune is pure genius. The guitar implies romance that rolled into some sort of a bubble as soon as KZ begin singing with the auto tune. The transition is confusing- acoustic to auto tune - exactly what KZ wants to evoke (what happened after she gave her all in love?). The robotic sound effected by the auto tune is a reference for manipulation as KZ (who feels treated like a robot) sings "you played it... you played..." while standing still in that dark stage, her facial expression is sad and defeated. She wanted to break away from this unfortunate state.When KZ belts out a sustained note with the auto tune, that signals breaking away from the dark - she pushed it away (see her hand gesture before the sustained belt). The camera moved and rolled (underline rolled). The stage is now filled with streaks of light. She's free! She's no longer sad. But she's angry because something beautiful is all put to waste. It takes a technical vocal skill to utilize an auto tune in a live performance especially when KZ is clear what feeling she wants to communicate with her audience. KZ "owned" this song right in the very beginning. The rap is just a bonus. My two cents.

KZ is fearless ! She has two personas. Her normal self, demure, shy, sometimes insecure and self-deprecating. This is what I've seen in interviews and appearances. But, when she gets on that stage, her alter-ego takes over and she unleashes this "fearless, self-assured and super-talented performer ! She sheds all her "self-doubt" just flies to a different level !!! I'm always amazed at her transformation !

It is not auto tune it is a reverb. She's very talented that she can do a lot of vocal effect

I can confirm that it was actually autotune at the start mixed with reverb. I've worked at a few of her performances as the drummer's assistant and her personal guitarist has a foot switch that changes what mode her microphone is in, and in this case it was on autotune mode at the start.

The mix she us using has some magic in it, literally. Hahaha. She used it on It's Showtime. It really can make your voice more beautiful.

I've seen this performance for the nth time (too many to count -- more than 20x) and it still gives me goosebumps! This is better than her Wish bus performance IMO. I suggest watching her Wish bus performance for _'Royals'_ next and then her _'Say Something'_ performance in Singer 2018. You won't be disappointed.

Well if your going through the entire list of songs in the Singer 2018 competition that KZ sings, you will get to see the range and versatility of her vocal talent. She one of those few performers that can jump from one genre to the next. And its not just talent, she puts in the work. The next song on the list is "the hurts you never knew" which she sings in Mandarin. She literally had the song translated in mandarin, english, tagalog (philipino national language) and her provincial dialect (which is different from the national language), just to be able to understand what she is singing and convey the correct emotions.

Hi from Scotland Rebecca, wonderful reaction. That was KZ's introduction to Singer 2018 episode 5. In the next episode she sang a very emotional song in Mandarin. Or rather a medley of 3 songs. Here's the link (one with eng subtitles). Episode 6 "The Hurts You Never Knew" kzread.info/dash/bejne/maWordWaZpmcdtY.html Episode 7 "Say Something" Episode 8 "Real Gone" Sheryl Crow song from the animated movie Cars (done the KZ way). Episode 9 "Royals" Episode 10 "See You Again" I'll give you a little background to the show. Singer is a show, and competition. Where 8 professional singers, both Chinese and foreign, are invited to take part. After all of the singers have finished. The audience votes for their favourite three. At the end of the show, the shows producer gives the performers, their placings. The last place gets eliminated, and in the next episode, a new challenger takes his or her place. Episode 10 saw the last new challenger. Apparently in episode 12, all of the eliminated singers, compete with each other for a wild card to be back in the final shows.

Rebecca KC’s voice sounds different ‘coz she had voice problem during her younger days. Normally any singer would stop singing but KC managed to find her way back to music and became unique that made her voice stands out.

she's got good technique with her voice...i believe her opening line na na na na na na was for her to settle, ease up a bit and calm down her nerves and at the same time to calibrate it to the note and timing of the run...the real artist of her and not just a performer...! she's bound to global stardom...so kz just go ahead full steam...God bless...!

Thank you coach for checking another video of KZ. There are a lot who are “crazy for KZ” and I am one of them. Music is her art and she is brilliant at portraying every colour of the notes. Every time she sings, she becomes a different character. For me, I can never ask for a more versatile performer than KZ.
