    Beth forgot to mention a crucial fact and that is Arnel was discovered when Journey's guitarist, Neal Schon, was surfing KZread and stumbled upon Arnel's Filipino band (The Zoo). Neal was so impressed with the similarity of Arnel's voice and range with Journey icon Steve Perry that Neal contacted Arnel to audition to be Journey's new singer with Neal paying for Arnel's airfare to go to the USA. The rest as they say is history!

    @@forthrightreactions8219 He probably has a more developed tone now as he's older. Voices don't just get smaller/weaker with age unless you abuse them in one way or another. His range shouldn't have decreased that much if at all in his 40s. It's probably roughly the same as it's always been. It's probably just more exhausting to sing for long periods of time but they're still touring, aren't they? Plenty of famous singers who maintain or increase their ranges throughout their lives.

It only took either 3 weeks or 13 weeks to re-record all the original Journey songs with Arnel because of "One take" or nearest to it recordings. 3. This is not his only voice. Arnel's got range/versatility. He does Axel Rose voice (Guns and Roses) as well as a Brian Adams - with the rasp - (I Finally Found Someone - Prince of Tides, impromptu duet with Morissette Amon on the Wishbus). It all on Ytube

    Quick fact about this live video. This was Arnil's first public performance as journey's lead singer. It was held in Manila in an outside sorts arena. The crowd was more than 50,000 strong. What an awesome debut for Arnil. The rest is history.

    Lord GOD Arnel isn’t singing that well anymore. The Journey Live in Japan 2017 was totally autotuned. Arnel was singing at least half key lower for many years now, Steve Perry said he can sing all the high notes and sing all the songs half to whole key lower. Of course he can’t do the vocal acrobatics he used to do for the songs. But to most people he’ll sound better than any of these Perryoke singers. I’m a new SP fan. Arnel is a good cover singer but will never be as great as Steve Perry. Journey hired a new singer to share lead vocals with Arnel like Deen Castronovo used to, then that second keyboard player after him.

  • @ThelSuperlKing

    Steve Perry now is 70......age is not kind to singers especially rock singers who tour regularly. When Steve Perry sang Journey songs with EELS the songs were in lower keys and still he was struggling with the high notes. That was a few years ago and Perry's solo album contains pretty much crooning songs not Journey type high notes. It would be harder for Perry now to sing those Journey songs even in a lower key because let's face it Journey songs are tough to sing by anyone.

  • @lucidam7722

    @lucidam7722

    Lord GOD you saw the first concert in Minnesota where he was rusty after not singing live for decades, he got his voice back at the Los Angeles show and sang super high notes. Also, the Eels band has a double bass player and they play lower key, so he tuned his voice to the band, that’s what great singers do. Even John 5 the guitarist who collaborated with him says that he still sounds amazing. You obviously haven’t listened to his new songs. I’m a new fan. If Steve Perry himself says he can sing the Journey songs and others have heard him and say so too, I’m sure he can. You’re just assuming and there are old rock stars who still sound amazing like Robert Plant. They won’t sound exactly the same and only idiots expect singers to sound exactly like they did when they were young. loudwire.com/john-5-steve-perry-journey-collaboration/

    Ashiqur Rohman Kelly Hansen has to do the same in Foreigner because people prefer Lou Gramm. What Arnel does isn’t special. Steve Augeri had it the hardest in Journey as far as acceptance. Arnel came in when the band became popular again because of the Sopranos and Glee using “Don’t Stop Believin.”

    @@deepbluesea8163 Doesnt take away the fact that Arnel is an amazing vocalist and performer...Try singing Separate ways or Faithfully on even a much lower register and yet it will drain you. Steve was just a replacement...on his own a great vocalist but wasn't fit for the Journey sound which isnt easy though i love Remember Me...But what Arnel does is amazing. Suppose we do let Arnel go ...what after that ???? No shows ...nothing and specially not of the calibre that Arnel pulls off...Judt because he is Asian dont be so naive..Arnel can give a run for theit money to the best out there.

    Ashiqur Rohman Big deal, don’t make it a race thing. Arnel is a good cover singer, he gets lots of help and has another singer also singing lead vocals. The band just hired a new singer who will replace the role of that extra keyboard player who shared the lead vocals. Arnel isn’t doing anything special. This band has no loyalty, they keep replacing the lead singers, they’ll just find another Journey cover singer if Arnel loses his voice.
