I think your question is whether the accent and what sounds like a mispronunciation are distractions to the native English speaker. For me, I find it charming. Listen to his cover of I Will Always Love You when he says “bittersweet”. It’s just so sweet! That no doubt is different for everyone. I’ve always loved accents, perhaps because my mother never lost hers.

For me, it doesn't bother me when a certain word in English is pronounced incorrect. I just appreciate his vocal capabilities and the beauty of his voice tone. There are a few artists here in America who don't pronounce certain words correctly and English is their native tongue.

About the accent- Gabriel has several songs on his channel that he sings in Portuguese. We can appreciate his voice without knowing what the song is about. But as English-speakers, we like to hear our favorite pop songs to be sung in the language in which they were originally recorded. So I'm grateful that he makes the huge effort to sing in English, when he doesn't even speak it.

If you hear him on "I Have Nothing" from 4 years ago, and he's singing in English now, you'll notice that he's been struggling to get his pronunciation better.

i Agree!! Dimash have a big vocal range, but is like a Robot Im no feel emotion, is like a Anime, and the voice timbre no is beauty for me. :) Gabriel voice timbre is beautiful!

Yes, you've got a point regarding language. I have respect for him to speak not only in another language other than his native, but to be able to perform and make you connect knowing he doesn't SPEAK the language fluently. If you notice his old videos I'd say he has improved a lot, and of course, it would be great if he'd have a language coach... I think that the fact of his audition performance in AGT will increase his worldwide exposure as we have already seen with this first song... over 7MM views so far and in every reaction youtubers request. We have a lot more to see from him, and of course, of other participants we've got to know through this platform. Thanks for your reaction Mr. Harris!! always appreciated

Obrigada por reagir! Ele não fala inglês. Entende um pouco, somente. A audição foi em abril e ele está fazendo aulas desde lá. Inclusive, pensou em recusar o convite com medo de passar vergonha por não saber falar inglês. Essa é a segunda vez que ele é convidado. Ele é um menino muito simples e humilde. Não faz ideia do seu talento. Sua audição vai ser dia 19 desde mês. Sim, ele nunca fez aula de canto. É autodidata. Só escuta a música e executa. Ele é cantor gospel. Mas canta essas músicas romanticas em inglês, porque foi apresentado pelo pai. Com 3 anos já ouvia Whitney e cantarolou antes de falar, porque tinha dificuldade na fala. Depois da Whitney o pai mostrou Mariah ainda pequeno. Ele traduz as letras antes de cantar para saber o que está falando. Devido a sua religião, não canta músicas com palavras vulgares.

Vamos lá Gabriel na final Será maravilhoso quando ele soltar a voz .

When the singer Ritchie came to Brazil from England, he was very successful singing with an accent. From the reaction videos I watch, Americans can't even repeat Gabriel's name correctly.

On the subject of diction and pronunciation. For me it totally depends on two things. Firstly, to what degree and how frequently is the diction incorrect. And secondly, is the emotional expression in keeping with the lyric, regardless of the diction,/pronunciation inaccuracies. If so, I can find the inaccuracies endear me to the performance. If not however, it will invariably diminish my listening experience. In the case of our Angel-Voiced Gabriel, he wins my heart with each and every brilliant performance of his.

Interesting analysis. I'm subscribing. First, best analysis I watched so far, at least an honest one. I am Brazilian, and I was annoyed about the English mistakes ( I know the lyrics of that song and as soon as I heard him sing I checked the lyrics), but I think this also might be the reason why they did not select the first song he sang which was Jennifer Hudsons . While others presented two songs he presented one. The mistakes might impact the finals if he faces intense competition. Portugues - A analise dele é interessante pq eu acho que no momento a lingua nao impacta, mas na final do IGT se for muito competitivo isso pode afetar sim. Ele erra a letra e é muito obvio, nao sei se foi intecional para mostrar uma melhora no proximo segmento, mas eu fiquei meio na noia quando eu ouvi o erro muito obvio ... quando ele fala tears e fears, ele fala fears 2 x, fora outras pronúncias mas que foram simples. Melhor analise, sober a voz dele an competicao.

Great React , yeah Dimash is a machine but Gabriel is way more pleasing to the ear , Dimash hits this weird sounding noise when he belts , almost like a female belting who has no control , I don’t like it , so sure they would destroy eachother in many ways
