The band was “stoic” because a former band member had died and Dimash sang this song with them as a tribute. They might have been trying not to cry. If you had the English captions on and watched to the end our beautiful humble Dimash says nice things to them

In that front row, the guy (in the white shirt) giving a standing ovation to Dimash, is the famous ukrainian/russian composer, Maestro Igor Krutoy, who from that day on came out of retirement to compose especially for Dimash and, may I add, those two together are making a dynamite duo. Greetings from Quebec, Canada, A.P.

Hi Missy, Dimash understands the importance of conveying the real story of music through performance. His total commitment to the story in appearance, dress, body language, and emotion is like a mini-opera. Or a Popera if you like. His intense operatic, blues, jazz, folk, world, and pop music training are all elements within the story. Every performance is a work of art.

The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash reinvigorated the song. In addition, he added the final part, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the name of the band is A'Studio (Kazakh pop music group based in Russia, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The late singer (of whom Dimash was a fan) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik along with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the long-haired keyboard player, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash. Subscribed to his channel, I want to see your surprised faces in each song of this Megastar. Greetings from Panama.

Always one of my favourites. Dimash performed with members of a Kazakh pop group called A-Studio. The pianist was the composer of Sinful Passion and the guitarist was also from A-Studio. The original singer passed several years back and the Eastern sound was a lament in honour of the former singer. Great reaction!

This was another very enjoyable reaction. This was his 2018 guest performance at the New Wave competition held annually since 2002 at the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park. The band A-Studio is originally from Kazakhstan. The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebaev, composed the song together with the poet Ilia Reznik, and the song was first performed in 1998. The singer of the group A-Studio passed away in 2015, and in this concert, the group was backing up guest vocalists. The triangle man is multi-percussionist Ilya Pokrovsky, a very talented man and a close friend of Dimash and member of the Dimash team (DQ Team). He plays various percussion instruments and accompanies Dimash in all his concerts. Someone explained that the special tribal riff is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other parts of Asia. A similar technique is also used in some parts of the Middle East. It is referred to by some as a "glottal stop". We use it too when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh KZreadr commented that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique, called 'komeymen aytu'. You can hear it among the Turan Group. Sakha people use this technique too; they call it 'kylyhah'. I read somewhere that the tribal vocalization was a tribute to the deceased singer, as it is similar to a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. This competition was organized by the man in the white shirt who stood up in the first row, Billionaire Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter. He invited Dimash to perform and it was this performance that prompted him to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I Miss You, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, Stranger, and Ave Maria, just to name a few. Since this concert, he has been collaborating with Dimash, writing music with his vocal range in mind, and often accompanying him on the piano. So you'll see more of him. There is another performance of this song of one of his more recent concerts. It is as good or better because you can hear certain parts clearer and the camera stays on him most of the time. Here is the link, in case you want to watch it. He is consistently perfect. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dH6YtJeaeN2pkbA.html

Jens, what you call "tribal riff" is a stylized lament (an element used in many cultures and musical styles), here as a guttural vibrato, Dimash does not sing overtone. This lament is part of an entire song that consists of different layers and ways of telling (sinful passion) about lost love, and not a tribute to a long-deceased singer and does not resemble a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. Someone once threw such a thought, and it is thoughtlessly duplicated by various commentators. Yours "'komeymen aytu" - it "Khoomei" (хөөмей, romanized: xөөmej, Mongolian: хөөмий, romanized: khöömii, Turkish: hööme) is a technique of overtone singing (among others: Tuvan throat singing) practiced among many nations, which has many variations and sounds (very often imitating the voices of nature). These techniques are also used today, e.g. by rock bands. Yours „kylyhah”, is - as I think - kargyraa (in Cyrillic: kаргыра), is one of khoomei technique, more deep sounding style of throat singing - it is also an overtone (on a guttural basic sound, a second sound is simultaneously generated as a result of air compression). Dimash does not sing overtone. Regards

For a 1st listen, the most popular Olimpico from Dimash’s concert- which has far superior camera work that actually shows Dimash more, & does not have the sync problems of other versions- is on Igor Krutoy’s channel. Have no idea why Dimash doesn’t have on his own channel, given it even has his DQ symbol on the video. That performance is EPIC. The one he just released was a fantastic start to his show for fans that likely had seen the other performances. You really think that’s a better 1st experience to the song? It’s so good & so much fun for us dears but I personally would not recommend over the powerhouse performance of his concert & Dimash’s energy with that audience…

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Dimash was appearing here at the New Wave Festival in Russia as a guest of the Kazakh band A Studio who were celebrating their 20th Anniversary and they had sadly lost their lead singer in 2015. The keyboard player Baigali Serkebayev was the composer of this song and asked Dimash to sing it for them. Dimash then composed and added the incredible last part of of the song from the soprano part to the unbelievable 24 second high notes to the crazy riffs and runs all on one breath. He is an incrediblely intelligent, genius level musician who is in very high demand from all over the world, and is about to recommence his solo world tour that was interrupted by covid, in April 2022. In the SOS video he was just 22, here is is 24, now he is 27 and if you can believe it his voice has improved, his range even greater and in his low register he can sing a rich bass and his high is even higher. It will get even better as he ages and his voice matures still more. I hope I get to hear him in 10 years to see how he sings then. Dimash is a prodigy, a true phenomenon and he is widely recognised as the greatest vocalist in the world today 💖 this year at the New Wave Festival Dimash premiered three songs and was so swamped with flowers he held up the Festival and needed help with them all there were so many. He donates his fields of flowers to local hospitals, care homes etc for them to enjoy. He also gets many gifts from fans, sometimes t shirts and necklaces that we see him wearing in photos and artwork etc he treasures them all. He always makes time for his fans with taking photos and autographs, holding hands, giving the odd hug and just chatting. He gets met and seen off at airports, he is very gracious and loves to spend time with fans, he calls us Dears as he says we are as dear to him as his family and he means it, he genuinely love his fans and he shows us this love all the time, he is a down to earth, well mannered and young man wholovesnothingmorethanto meetvyou in person. If only all so called "stars" were like him. He will be coming to the US to live temporarily to promote his music very soon.

You forgot to write (or maybe you don't know) that the former singer who died in 2015 hasn't been singing with the band since 2000. A-Studio has been singing with two female singers ever since. And that completely changes things. Dimash did not come up with a vocal cutout (yours: last part), but add it instead of the original guitar cutout, which (appeared before the last stanza) and, of course, also had an interpretive value for the entire performance. With Dimash, this interpretation is different, more complex. Dimash does not sing the last stanza of the original lyrics of the song.

This is the only time I’ve seen this band A Studio, play for Dimash, they had a hit with this song (composed by the keyboard player) in the 90’s. They are from the same country as Dimash though, so they are probably well aware of Dimash’s epic talents! Dimash did the song very differently to the band though, I really didn’t like the way they did the song when I listened to it, (it was originally more pop).

Yes, that 24 seconds was 1 breath :) The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are a lament to the deceased singer.

Hey, Missy! If you liked that Eastern-flavored middle bit in *Sinful Passion*, you might also really like Dimash's cover of Lionel Ritchie's *Hello*. What starts out as a cool and interesting cover (because, y'know, Dimash) turns into something transcendent (because, y'know, Dimash), with that same flavor sprinkled (and occasionally liberally-applied) throughout.

In Hello Dimash, he stylizes singing on the words "love" and "hello" to an Arabic / Turkish Muslim macam, using semitones, quarter tones, modulation and intonation in the singing. In "Sinful passion", he stylizes a lament, but in a different musical style.

@@EK-tf2eo Couldn't have said it better myself. And, man, I didn't! Tbh, I was trying to be vague so as to entice her without spoiling but, yeah, exactly that. My point being that Dimash weaves styles together in an interesting and exciting way and these songs where he brings in other cultural elements really show off how dynamic and moving that can be.

Hi, i would rather say the band is floored! The mentioned keyboard player is the componist of the original song and the band is called A-Band. You must know the singer of the band just died a little time before this concert and Dimash made, unknown before hand to the band, a reference to that sad occurrence through this Arabic scaling sound, that you like so much. In Afghanistan it is a mourning sound to honor the death. Also the one breath 20sec glide was improvised by Dimash and beforehand unknown to the band

That is not his normal bandmates aside from the triangle player / percussionist. The Keyboardist and guitar player were from the original group called "A Studio" who wrote that song about 20 plus years ago. That's why the bass player looked pretty shocked after that long note at the end.

I know I'm late with this comment, but it would be interesting to see you react to 2 more versions of this song by Dimash, one is at his Arnau Kinetic Voice concert in Kazakhstan, very Rockstarish, the another in Moscow, very emotional, arty, girl swooning version. Hardly anybody reacts to these versions, and some say they're even better than this one, is it even possible? Anyway, its Dimash in different modes.. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa.. Love your reactions!
