On Singer, Dimash was just learning English, so his first songs are rough but the English gets better after a few times so please keep that in mind. As Singer progresses you will notice the difference. I have to agree with you. I can never get bored with Dimash because I never know what he is going to do next. This was also one of my favorites.

There is a behind the scene for Singer in which he worries about whether the audience will understand what he is singing. He talks about the fact that there just wasn't enough time to learn it. BUT...knowing that, he just committed to it and didn't skimp on the rest of the elements of the performance. A true professional.

The performance of My Heart Will Go On was done at least 1 1/2 years later than this performance.....thus his English is so much better. He is studying English and Mandarin and practicing his pronunciation daily and so will further improve. One can only assume, being that it is Dimash we’re talking about, that he is aiming for “perfection” in his pronunciation, as with all of his other accomplishments!❤️🇰🇿😘😀😍🤩🇺🇸😎

The Singer is an unusual show - all contestants are famous singers in China some for decades - the best of the best. The quality is very-very high. Dimash was with 22 the youngest ever and completely unknown in China. Can highly recommend to check out others too - though Dimash I discovered some other great Asian singers I never heard before of - Terry Lin (Dimash's "adoptive" father during the show) , Tengri, Hua Hua... We are quite ignorant about Asian singers in Europe and the same goes for America I think.

When this performance was out, many people criticized his english and now you know why, but the interesting point here is that Dimash is his best critic, he always is trying to improve and he even sees his mistakes when nobody else can see them lol I am sure he was very aware of his english level so he improved it, and I am pretty sure he is still working on it.

Most famous cover songs by Dimash was arranged and re-arranged by another young Kazakh fellow Erlan Bekchurin who deserves a lot of credits too. He helped to Dimash to show off all beauty of his voice, range and technique. They together turn all songs into pieces of art.

The show he participated was a Chinese show called Singers. It invites professional singers across the country together with often one singer from other country around the world to sing other singers’ songs to prove to others that they are capable in singing + transforming to their own rendition. Therefore the show is called “Singer” (real live singers, and not studio-only). There are 500 audience in every show and will vote their favorite top 3 performances. Only one take, and of course they will try to rearrange the song to wow the live audience to remember them and vote at last.

I think he prepares as he takes his art. No other word for what he does very seriously. He might on occasion let a note go where it inspires him during a performance perhaps. All of his songs are great, but sometimes I really feel his emotions even more and his intensity. Then sometimes when his voice soars up perhaps he leaves the where it ends a bit more open. He is however a technician so I think 99% is planned.

I'm pretty sure for a competition show he's very much prepared. He is human and part of why he sounds so good at the time of performance is because of the practice before hand. He also has to worry about the sound system because his high notes or belts can easily overpower the mic.

Yeah bro his English was very rough as this was one of his first English songs and learned it in a week. This was 2017 so you'll notice in other English songs in the show it starts to improve and even now is soooooo much better . So he's getting it down packed . I'd love to hear this song again with his better English, I bet it'll sound better. Also Dimash likes to rearrange every song . So he plays a big role in everything he sings . So hes not just a singer musician , he also produces.

  • @kayrush1706

You are right, Chris, his English is rough throughout the singer competition. He had very little lead time going into it. He has improved significantly in 11/2 years from The Singer. He had complete control of his stage presence and vocal dynamics and tones. As you watch multiple renditions of the same song you will see that Dimash improvises more and more. Some also think he does this to put the lip syncing comments to rest. Thank you for a great Dimash reaction!

  • @clarity123

I think that he just gets bored doing the same exact rendition over and over. He improvises parts of songs to suit the occasion or his mood at the time. He needs to be creative. When he's waiting around, he will make up melodies and start singing to his fans. That's why he turned down a lead position in Astana Opera House. Doing pop he is free to sing however he feels like.

Dimash's English has improved quite a bit since "The Singer." His French as well. If you really want to see vocal fireworks, I recommend "Daybreak" from his Bastau concert. He goes all out in that one and it's one of his faster paced performances. Another amazing performance from "The Singer" but in the 2018 season is Tengri's "Heaven." He's a 58 year old man, but he can rock out in ways that I think you will very much enjoy. His ability to produce distortion and do crazy dynamics with his voice are also quite unique.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Wow, thank you! It’s refreshing to hear the feedback of a rock singer on this performance!!! You are right about his English. This was back in early February 2017, while My Heart Will Go On is from right now, November/December 2018. Less than two years, yet a ton of improvement. By the way, this competition was in China, not in his own country. So, it was quite a challenge for Dimash to compete against talented, experienced and already well-established Chinese singers. He actually came third on this song, after scoring first on SOS and Opera 2. I think it might be because of the English pronunciation because otherwise this was a fantastic performance! He came first again in Adagio. So, you might want to react to those two songs. Thank you!

Dimash firing on all cylinders..epic! His performance on stage is simply an explosion intense emotions of raw energy, and raw energy feeds the soul. His transitions of the different voices are incredible which evenly dissipate into the arrangement of the song bringing a 'unique stylised # ‘FUSION' of sound to music genres a kind of POP OPERA; ROCK OPERA; Neo-Classical infused with SOUL.music, in performance, is a type of sculpture. The air in the performance is sculpted into something. and In a live performance, it's a collaboration with the audience; you ride the ebb and flow of the crowd's energy. The ending was like a volcano about to erupt. That's prepared you to watch his cover of Lara Fabian's ADAGIO. or the DIVA DANCE from the movie The 5th Element. Thanks for your reactions. Hi Chris ThankQ for your reaction and professional comments... I have been following Dimash's journey since the summer of 2017. He has professional singers as his parents and has studied relentlessly since he was 5. His parents and grandparents have nurtured his ability as he competed in many performances in Kazakhstan throughout his childhood. His father and mother were at his London concert.. Seeing his mothers smile and pride in her son made this concert very special. Love and respect filled the arena, I feel blessed to have been there. His performance of Autumn Strong was breathtaking. I found the video of it on KZread and watch it with the awe of my teenage years, which was a long time ago... His Singer performance of Adagio is powerful, but his Sochi performance of Sinful Passion is insane. I look forward to your reaction to them......

Please react to Dimash’s duet with Victor Ma, The Earth Song (Michael Jackson). Victor sounds like an American rapper and Dimash compliments him with his high notes. The song is so so so intense! It was sung during a singing competition and each contestant had to choose a singer to perform a duet. Victor chose Dimash. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Great reaction and thanks for the explanation about his singing techniques as for the improvising goes he didn’t unless you call recordings done in the studio and practiced it on stage and obviously changing the song here and there to fit his singing than i guess he did but his voice is no doubt crazy for sure

the second perfomance of Dimash that I heard, was this 😍 and beyond being a metal head and loving Freddie I was in shock and I know I would have loved this version he loved the opera 🥰 I would be happy if for example Dimash sang ballads of Metal 🤘🏻, a classic would be Forever an one (Neverland) anyway, thanks for your analysis and great reaction!

I'd say Dimash improvises most of the time. Yes, there are times he chooses to repeat his rehearsals, however I am telling you he improvises 80-90% of the time. He is that good. I am pretty sure. especially his vocalises ( those crazy high tunes, without words) are almost 95% of the time improvised.

Another excellent reaction. I've listened many other versions of this song and Dimash is the only singer who doesn't try to imitate Freddy Mercury, he doesn't even want to sound like him and that's great because Dimash has his own style of singing and his own sound. I dare say that their versions are better than the versions of the original singers (Celine Dion, Lara Fabian, etc) I love "The Show Must Go On" with Freddy Mercury but this version was extraordinary. Cheers!

There is a video somewhere if I remember correctly, about Dimash discussing a song with the people of Singer. It seems that the end result was Dimash pretty much has his own mind made up on how he is going to perform a song. Was there coaching on this song, could be. Each singer gets a personal coach. Personally, I think Dimash listens to advice, utilizes what he likes and the rest is his own. Maybe all is his. I do not know. I do know that songs like SOS he has been doing for years and it is all his. That is an excellent question.

Thank you for reacting to this!! I’m a huge Freddie Mercury fan and I think Dimash’s rearrangement of this iconic song is very refreshing and glorious. He said it himself that he’s not a rock singer so he wanted to bring in his own version while keeping the integrity of the original song. Thank you for your opinions!! I’d suggest Confessa + Diva dance before you do Hello.

Dimash is meticulous ...and he rearranges the music himself...there is a clip of Dimash arguing with the music producer about the first song he sang on the Singer... English....He didn't know any except hello before going to China, 2 years ago, where he didn't know any Chinese either...I get very upset with people who disparage his accent..I want them to go to Kazakhstan and in one week get up on stage and sing a song in their language...they keep saying that he needs to improve to break out in the west....Sorry to say..He doesn't need us...we need him... and now.....Idol Hits...Screaming....Please...I so want to see you watch this one.......and Earth Song with Victor.....

It's so annoying people complaining about accent, actually I love his English with his strong kazakh accent cause I love that language and Russian too, and for the he doesn't need American people well, he certainly won't fail without us but yes we need him, he has said that he wants a wider audience, he's very humble and would never say he doesn't need a particular audience.

Doris, an excellent reply. I feel exactly the same way. Those who citicise Dimash's English should do exactly what you say: Go to Kazakhstan and sing a song in the Kazakh language (preferably in Cyrillic notation), with one week to prepare themselves. Dimash truly doesn't need us -- we need him.

hello Doris Cooper! I am absolutely agree with you about his accent. some of the reactors pay much attention to that point but not listening to the song and how he feels it and gets into it while singing. as for me I just adore his voice his stage presence everything he performs is a masterpiece. it's true that "he doesn't need us we need him". I listen to his singing all day. He speaks Russian and Kazakh the two official languages of our country. non native English speakers are sure you have no accent? then during a week he has learned a song in mandarine phoneticaly. could each of you succeed in it? just try and you'll stop speaking about his accent but enjoy singing. sorry if i hurt you.

He definitely prepared beforehand for this show but in concert he definitely improvises! His English is much better now! He started studying English & Mandarin while doing this show. He also sang in like 8 different languages, most of which he had only one week to prepare these songs & he also helped compose bc he is so use to doing it all himself! Mark my words, Dimash will be considered the Michell Jackson of his generation, and by that I mean just an all around brilliant musician! LOVE METAL & YOU HAVE AN AMAZING VOICE YOURSELF! You have a new fan that came up meeting Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Metallica, Pink Floyd ( not that Floyd is metal, they’re just the greatest live show u will ever see! I Love them!) that’s just to a name a few of so the very many shows I’ve seen & bands I met in my teens & early tweeties! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your appreciative and expert analyses and comments. The younger generation here doesn't know very much about Freddie Mercury and the Queen. So maybe we need to inform them that this was Freddie's very last song, which he performed only a short while before his death, when he was "soon turning around the corner." My guess is that this was Dimash's tribute to Freddie. Alas, and what a tribute it is! Excelentísimo!

The composer Eric Serra said this about that song: In that scene Maïwenn plays the diva but the voice is not hers, it is the one of a true opera singer, the Albanian Inva Mula. When the scene is shot she is a young talented soprano, yet her agent was Maria Callas’ one too, showing, if need to be, that she was already a promising artist. Today she is in the world’s top ten sopranos. For the scene to work, we needed her to sound like an alien, therefore we had to create notes that no human could sing. So I purposely wrote un-singable things, some too low, some too high, sentences that were too fast, I would then arrange it with the sampler. So how in the freaking world can Dimash sing it? AMAZING! This guy is actually out of this world!

Hi Chris, Fantastic reaction, wasn't sure which way you were going to go with this !! Yeah hes been working on his English for over a year now and "My heart will go on" was only couple weeks ago. You have to remember Dimash could only speak Kazakh and Russian when he was brought onto the "Singer" competition but because he always tried to sing a song in its native language this meant learning the song and the language within the weeks rehearsal between shows. He has to do all his own arrangements because of the way he sings songs and there is a vid on YT where he has a meeting with the musical director for the "Singer" and he is getting quite agitated saying "Drum not right there" and just leaves the meeting saying "I will sort it myself". One of the guys says he is so stubborn when it comes to his music. As you see some of his concert/Tv appearances you will see that he very rarely sings a song the same way twice !!!👍👍😊

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (you did a reaction to TSMGO!!!) thank you thank you thank you.... Okay, now I'll watch. Okay, I've watched your video. I used to be particular about pronunciation of words and wouldn't want to listen to a singer if he made a mess of some of the words but I knew Dimash was special when I didn't care. His passion and the way he arranges the songs... too mind blowing for me to bother about his English. Anyway this was in early 2017 and he is so much better in English now. Thanks for your reaction, Chris. I was watching your facial expressions 🤣
